Kevin @ Jtech is making a batch of that same Cessna 195 type thin wraparound muffler to fit the Dle 20's. I called him a few weeks ago and ordered one. He said he would make a run of them for the Dle 20. I just emailed him to check on them. They should be ready anytime now.
Thanks,

I have the DL-30 rear carb with the Jtec wraparound. Plan on using a 19 x 8 XOAR. Have the engine installed. Took some cutting of the fuse forward of the fire wall plus some cutting of the cowl. The Jtec muffler required a little more cutting than I hoped for but it's all on the bottom of the cowl so it's not really noticeable. Can't up-load pics at this time as I'm in San Diego until the 19th.

Hey Minn, what muffler did you use and can we get a pic of that area PLEASE...please
She looks great
Duh, after looking better at the pic looks like stock DLE muffler. Am I right?

Thanks Mike
Those photos confirm that I could live with the stock mounting. I mean the head is stickin out why not the muffler. I think it looks fine.
You just saved me 80 bucks and a long wait
Thank you
Joe

I used the Jtec pitts wraparound (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXADRD&P=0) from tower. Unfortunately they are back ordered again. It's a close fit toward the firewall but it does not contact it. All-in-all I'm pleased with the install. Haven't had time to fire it up yet. That will be first on my agenda when I get back home. Glad to see some of you are ready to maiden yours.
So far I can't find any majors issues with this one. I was impressed with the alignment and matching of the cabanes and innnerplane struts, everything just matched up perfectly. Anyway, itch'n to get home and get it in the air. ACF
Just looked at the muffler Cannonball is using, and it appears the pipes are straight down as opposed to the Jtec I've got that has the down tubes raked back about 15 degrees, not that it matters that much. I've got the same one only a little bigger on a DL-55 flying my giant Sun Dancer, and it sound great.

Finally got my muffler in today and it is NICE!!! Got it mounted and the engine final mounted. Just have to balance, recheck everything, and smooth up the edges around the engine and muffler. Then it is a go for a maiden this Sunday!

Nice job!
The $80 for J tech muffler sure saves some cowling![sm=thumbs_up.gif] I think it's worth it.
Just wondering how much $ would that be for each square inch of the cowl saved... :-O

Thanks Guys! The only concern that I have is cooling. It does not have a lot of air exit so that will have to be watched. I ended up cutting a lot less than I thought I was going to have to. As for balance where are you guys putting yours at. I have to final balance tonight and I think I can just move the battery.

Thats the 30 right? I can't wait to see how she balances out. Cooling! Cut your vent holes on the sub cowl like minnflyer did as well as it shows in the manual. That should cover ya. HEck, we all want to cut the cowl less but if you think of it this way..."You already have a huge hole in the bottom of the cowl" a few more wont hurt it
it is a shame to cut but I'd play it better safe than sorry

Just realized a question I wanted to ask. Is everyone using 2 different batt's for the servos as well as the ignition? A club member suggested a Single A123 for both using a IBEC? Any thoughts on this?
I'd like to know what most are using

Minnflyer where did yours balance at? Lablover I have 2 batteries. A 2000 4.8 hydromax for the ignition and a 2000 6.0 for the receiver. I am like minnflyer in that I just don't like the idea of sharing the receiver and ignition battery.
