IBEF's work fine. I have used them for about 4 years. Usually those who oppose their use are people that never tried them but stand vehemently opposed to their use. Opinions can be based on experience, or something else......!

DLE30 question guys. My first gasser. Do you do the first few flights without the cowl like the manual recomends. I've had folks tell me thats not needed. I fired her right up today and ran it a few minutes. Man did it start easy, didn't even need to choke it

Many companies make prop drilling guides and if you call valley view rc they will drill them for you

I ran about 1-1/2 tanks of fuel through mine before I placed the cowl on. I did have to do a bit of adjustment from the factory settings, after it was warmed up. On the low setting I'm about just a hair under one full turn out. and the high end setting is about 1-1/4 turns out. Good transition, no burbling at mid to low rpm and a good idle. Maidened with the cowl on and haven't touch the mixture screws since. Mike (ACF)

I have always ran my gas engines with the cowl on for the flights. The Waco had maybe 2 minutes run time before the first flight and she ran great!

I'm wondering if anyone who has a few of the DLE-30 engine spacers left over would be willing to part with them for a little $ ? Let me know, I'll pay-pal you, or can send self addressed mailer with MO or paper money. Thank's for the help, Mike.

Mike, pm me and send me your address and tell me how many you need. Don' worry about $$. they will fit in small envelope and cost maybe $2.00 bucks to send. Not worth a money transaction. Mike (ACF)

Valley View RC is one of the best rc business's I've ever dealt with. They go the extra mile. And if you ever need advise on the DL engines, Jodi is the "go-to" guy. Best of luck with your maiden. Mike

Well, look's like it's the end of this thread. Strange how the kit WACO YMF can have over 500 replys, The Pica/Cox ARF somewhat less and the GP version only about 25. Have we lost intrest in this one already ?. This [ I believe ] is truly one of the better ARF's for us Bi-Winger's. ACF, SkyPi, Skill, Where you guys at ?. My excuse for not posting more is that we are having quite a bit of very high winds here in N. Utah. Very strange this year and just too risky to fly for now. Hope to hear from you guys. Seeya for now, MM

Methinks you will see more interest once the GP Waco starts shipping again at the end of May, oh that's right it's now 'early June'. See you in July. :-)

MM, you are right. This thread needs to be re-energized. I have been flying and loving mine. The 30 is way more power than I need but it fly's great and is a show stopper. I flew mine this past Memorial day along with my P-51. Had to fly a warbird. I have really gotten the hang of flying and landing the Waco so I have no bounce and do a nice scale roll out. I am thinking of adding a small smoke system to mine to give it that extra wow factor. At the moment I am flying with a 19x7 xoar but once the engine gets broke in I will be going to a 20x6. I have a 2 2000 mah batteries. One 4.8 for Ignition and a 6.0 for receiver and they allow me to fly all day!

Hope the rest of you guys are having success with yours!!

And for Glow-Fuelers, like me, The OS 1.20 works just "Peachy". Only a few flights because of the strange weather here but, it's really a smooth flyer, just like the GP Super Stearman. They pretty much go hand in hand together. Both are very relaxing and enjoyable to fly. Just wish the winds would stop, it's howling at least 30 to 40 MPH gusts outside. What in the heck is going on ?. MM

OK Steve, here's one. OS 1.20 works very well at 4500' elevation. Simple by the book install. Just luv it. Smooth, easy to land, a very good plane and investment. MM
MM,

For clarity, are you using the OS 120AX (2 stroke) or the OS 120FS (4 stroke)? I have both and I have a DLE-30 and not sure which to install on my still in the box new GP Waco. Thanks

Howard

MM, I've got about 12 flights on mine so far. We've been getting a lot of wind here too, except on the days I work.....Gads, I bring it to the field and people just stand there and stare and drool, and say, "that's the nicest bipe I've ever seen". My reply is "You to can have one of these baby's". I agree with LeeDees in that they are back in stock at tower, we'll see some more interest in this one. I have had one minor issue with mine, mostly my fault. I've had 2 pretty hard landings early on and have a hair-line crack down the LE of the R. gear faring. It's about 1-1/4" long and is hard to see unless you really look. Certenly doesn't have any adverse effect. Mike (ACF)

Howard, This plane deserves a good 4-stroke. My personal rule is - "2-strokes for speed, 4-strokes for torque". I'm sure many will dissagree but you decide. Mike, I too, have discovered a hairline crack on the leading front edge of LG. I had one kinda hard, bouncey landing. Not really noticable but there just the same. If you guys want a real "eye-ball" popper, price check some of the replacement parts for this plane........ WAY OVER-PRICED ! I always buy a spare set of pants and a cowl but this time........ MM

I know i've raised the question before but now that we have a few of the guys with some actual flight time on the Waco, does anyone think my idea of flying it with the OS FS91 will work?

I point out that many GP Stearmans have been flown successfully with the FS91.

While I do believe that it might fly it, it would be very minimal in performance.
