The have all sorts of useful stuff.
Every decent sized town has at least one old school hardware store with a good fastener selction too as well as stores that specialize just in fasteners. You may have to buy a dozen or so to meet their minimum purchase but at least it is available.

Well, my WACO is done.....the Saito 180 gas fits perfectly up front, not sure what prop to use. I have a Solo props vintage style adjustable pitch that looks really good up front or might use a Mezlick 18x6. It balances perfect with the Mezlick and a little more nose heavy with the Solo...nose heavy is ok though, certainly better than tail heavy...now just for a nice day to go to the sod farm and do the maiden...can't wait to fire up motor...

JR Hobby Hardware had the exact bolt I needed, Thank you! McMaster would only sell 100 ea and no one else had anything over 2.5" so thanks again that is what is so great about this forum and the Brotherhood!

MM All I can say is WOW! We had 86 today and tomorrow is going to be 63 and I was complaining. I guess I will stop now! ;P I Have monday off after the TDY the last 2 weeks and I hope to get mine close( no muffler yet) to being done. I can't wait for the next nice weekend!!

Well, I have been waiting for the flight results also. The WACO's are out of stock till late May. I keep waiting for my ship to come in for I can buy one, but someone keeps moving the dang dock. It will be fall the way it looks. You guys fly em and enjoy em. I will be waiting and watching.

Just a few pictures of my Waco build. Using a DLE 20 with stock muffler and changed out the tail wheel. Also installed a servo for the choke.Have a broken turtle deck fairing due to shipping damage. Do not know when they will be able to replace it. Maybe not till May.

I like your tail wheel set-up,who makes it? My Waco will be here Friday. I'm not sure what I will use for power. I will see how the DLE 20 works out for everyone using that set-up. I'd hate to cut the cowl for the muffler with the DLE 30

A friend of mine has the GP Stearman, he has the Saito FG 20. His exact words are "The Saito FG 20 was more than enough power and flew in a scale like fashion."

I also have the GP Stearman, I will probably set it up to try the DLE 20 before starting on the Waco. I believe the 20 will be more than enough power based on all the feed back that has been reported.

Hellcat, Excellent install, but are you aware that the area under your tailwheel screws is all balsa ? Even soaking that part with thin CA may not hold up from repeated landings and strain. Can you tell us if this area has been re-worked with a Basewood plate implant and epoxied ? I'm not trying to be rude, I simply care enough about your plane not to see any possible problem. If you have re-inforced it, great. Respectfully, MM

Well guys mine is done and here are some pics of it. I am waiting on a muffler from Jtech and props from Valleyview. Hoping for a maiden next weekend. Have to balance when the muffler and props are installed but she is a little behind the cg at the moment.

The tail plane wires would be scale as the full size has them. The airfoil on the full size is fairly thin even though it is a steel tube frame with flat ribs going over the spars. I don’t know if the GP Waco needs them but it wouldn't hurt to install them if just for looks.

Look'n good. My DL-30 should arrive on Mon. along with a Jtec Pitts muffler. I have the same "Miracle" switch/fueler set as yours and installed it in the same location as you did. What fuel line did you use. I've got Tygone on my Giant Sun Dancer but have to change it out about once a year as it gets stiff. I may use the black neoprene tubing this time. ACF

If we do flying wires on the tail, maybe we should go all the way and install them on the main wings. Problem is they'll be a pain hooking up and disconnecting at the flying site. This one won't fit in a Dodge Carravan assembled. My Sig WACO SRE just barely fits and that's nice. Have any of you guys checked the wing incidence on your planes ? 0 on tail, 0 on lower wing, 1 degree neg on top wing with mine. MM
