I use 1/4-20 nylons on birds as big as 25, plus pounds. If necessary, I'll drill and tap for additional bolts.

HA! Good point, but some planes seem to need VERY little coaxing ( like ... tall grass...) I can't count how many Revolver's (59" and 70") I've completely replaced the stock landing gear area on (I currently have two of each model). It's a standard part of my build \ re-build now.

btw - looking at this plane I highly doubt it needs flaps to land gently. If I got one I'd fuse the flaps to the ailerons for a higher roll rate (I have done this on other planes and it does help.)

Also, this plane looks light. I bet this plane moves nicely with a DLE 35.

Installed the DLE 35 yesterday, yes it will be light. The gear seems fairly substantial, time will tell.
The flap/ail. assembly is pinned together, it's up to the builder if he wants flaps, I do not so will not cut them apart.
Likley a week or two out from completion..........

Hey microdon2;
To me, the DLE 35 wake this plane up!!! Right now I am trying to find a good prop and engine setup. Right now I have a Xoar 19/8: Beechwood prop and it look like a good match, but I have some Falcon 19/8" props coming in tomorrow. So this weekend, I will be trying them out and compare then with the Xoar props. My bird has over 11 flight and the landing gear is holding up!!!

Its fixed, Like I said the damage wasn't that big of a deal. In fact there really was only two broken pieces of wood. The rest just came unglued. I had the proper color of monokote on hand and beefed it all up with some hard wood blocks. I went ahead and made a hatch in the opening behind the landing gear. I will put my reliever batteries in there, I was going to do that anyways.

Microdon2- You are right, the plane does not need them. I don't think I have but 30 degrees of deflection and it just floats and floats.

Thanks Super08. Took it out again today, flies much better when there is gas in the tank. I also replaced the stock main wheels with a pair of dubro low bounce wheels. maybe it was just me but I had tendency to bounce this plane on touching down more often then anything I had before. No bounce today on any landing.

Hey Guys;
Today was a good day with clear blues skies and light winds, so off to the field I went!! I came very close to running out of gas on two flight!! The engine quit on roll-out!!
I have to set-down tonight and set-up a timer, to keep me from running out of fuel.
vicrider, you did a great job on the repair. The weather look good for the weekend, until Sunday night when rain and high winds come in for next week!!
Big Brown did leave me a box of Falcon props at my door, so, tomorrow and Sunday will be test day between Xoar and Falcon props.
So far I am very happy with this plane and when Tower get them back in-stock, I will pick up one or two more!!! lol

Success

I got 5 or 6 flights on it today. Flys very nice but is a but nose heavy for my taste. Otherwise it is a great addition to my fleet. The winds really picked up towards the end and it takes them in stride. It will make a great windy day plane. A couple of guys at the field are interested in getting one.

Oh and forgot to mention it is extremely neutral in KE. Just pulls slightly to the canopy. For elevator to flap mix I had to use 16% down elevator with flap. Who ever it was that asked what the difference is with full span ailerons vs. just the outer ailerons the roll rate is almost double with full span activated.

Congrats. Sounds like you had fun. Mine took about 12% down elevator mix for the flaps on my futaba. Thanks for the info on the flaps/ailerons, I will do what you did and mix the flaps with the ailerons, The roll rate on mine with the recommended throws is kinda slow.
