I am still working on flapperons. I have eliminated the Y connection to run the 2 wing servos off of channel 1. Now I run the left servo off of channel 1 and the right servo off channel 6. And when I call for flaps on my flap dial I get both aeilerons dropping simulatneously. Can anyone give me a hint as to how much travel is appropriate for the flapppersons. Also any comments about how much up elevator I should mix with the flapperons? Jim T

Just had a great flight with the twist. I agree that you must try different props to see what you like. It took me three tries to find the one I liked. Now as far as finding the right women? Well I think she found me and after reading all this I wonder? What kinda prop am I? I must have the right balance cuz it's been 15 years.Hmmmmmm. LOL

KaptKaos,
Didn't mean to bust your bubble. Besides you can dream about that as dreams don't cost anything. As long as you dream you are ok, it the reality part that kills you.
I would not want you to have to sell your Twist and give up this hobby becuase there is nothing left. Just trying to look out for your best interest.....
Have a good weekend.
BuzzKill
I prefer a good women too. Props are only good for flying and mixing epoxy.

Hey Pat,
I have mine flaperons set to 20 % and do pretty good. I drop about 1-1 1/2 inches. Might be a little to much starting out...
As for props... I have tried just about all of them, besides a three blade and as with everything it depends on what you're going to do when you fly...3D hit a 12.75 x 3.25 or sim. If you just flying anything should work great, but go higher then a 13 ish blade and you'll hit the blade on either take off or landing...

I throw away the props since they are so heap, I mix epoxy and paint with my heli blades since they cost $75!!
Thanks for the prop tips, I picked up a 12x4, 12x5, 11x6,11x5
Thats the closet I could find.
I found an old OS61FSR that I had in the old days, it was wrapped up in saran wrap and still had an oily coat. I wonder how it would fly with that....

Twist2,Sorry about your plane.I`m not being a smart *&^.I had a very soft crash landing my US 40 and broke it in half right behind the wing.I was complaining to my friend who tought me to fly. That it was a very soft crash and it should not have broke. He told me planes are made to fly not crash.Again I`m not being smart but my friend had a point.

The one thing I have noticed about (almost) all ARFs, is that they sacriface strength for weight...Big Time!! Not only do they use plys that are half the thickness as I (or kits) would use...But they put WAY too big, and WAY too many lightening holes. Unless you grease them in, they are going to break by design. Heavy engines are also tough on the frames. Also the cheap glue that they use doesn't seem to penetrate the wood at all. I say, that until they improve in these areas, we as a whole, boycott the damn things. If we all quit buying their junk (but beautiful) planes...MAYBE they will start building them stronger. In the real world, we can't grease all of our landings. The damn things are built to fly...AND THAT'S IT !!
Twist2...Don't be discouraged with the Twist....Just buy a bundle of tri-stock with your new plane (ARF) and reinforce..reinforce..reinforce!!!
Cheers Guys !!

I never liked that silly knob. Try setting up the airbrake switch so that when you flip it, both ailerons droop a set amount, and the elevator goes up a set amount. Quick and easy.

Thanks Ernie for you comment. One of the fellows at our field has said the same thing. Once I see if my throws are in the ball park I will reprogram the radio to use a switch instead of the flap dial. By the way you called them an airbrake. I called them flapperons, and then there are spoilerons. Does anyone know if there is a big difference between flapperons or spoilerons? I was wonding if they are just opposite or are they in fact just the same, and would both of them be considered an air brake? Jim Tucker

ED,
Nope, fly with both hands...the nick name is due to a plane accident where my left thumb came in direct contact with a prob at 10k RPM...
ouch, and hence the name...

Has anyone seen the plug and pray version of our Twists on Horizons web site? You know we are flying a really popular plane when they copy Microsoft (plug and play)!! http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...ProdID=HAN2875

Damn I am gonna have to have one of them!
Oh and by the way the Sport Propeller,12.25 x 3.75 (APC12338) is not a good prop for the Evo trainer on a twist.
I have been testing props today.

Some people like the "click" in the thottle. Some don't. If you don't prefer it, most radios can be opened up and adjusted to not click or to be a little lighter on the clicks. I do a lot of electric 3D stuff and I hate the clicking. I opened up my Flash 5 and bent the little thing that makes it click to where it barely touches the gear so I get a slight bump but no click.
I'm not sure why heli's don't have it....maybe the same reason?
