Bobby,
How much clearance is there between fire wall and the muffler?
Thanks<br type="_moz"/>

About .125" Cat. I pulled the cowl and engine off last night and applied 2 layers of Aluminized tape just in case it got to warm in that area. Should be fine though...

I tried the stock DLE muffler, The Bisson and a generic Pitts style from China off of Ebay. All required either major cutting of the bottom or side of the cowl. I spoke to JTEC and he informed me that there muffler was only .75 inches thick along the body portion off the cylinder head as well as set at a shallower angle. This allowed it to fit completely within the cowl.

Well you guys, Did my maiden. What a rock solid airplane ! I chose to install a set of Williams Bros 4 1/2 inch classic tires for training purposes. Some of you were saying that three point landings should not be attempted because of bounce. It may be with the stock tires but I've had no problems and this is on an asphalt runway. OS 1.20 gives it pretty much scale power at 4500 feet elevation. Because it lands smooth, I also switched to the second landing gear with wheel pants [ but yes, I installed the Dubro 4 inch inflatable tires just to be safe]. Well worth the cost this ARF is. My new Super Stearman should be arriving tomorrow, according to the UPS tracking......

I also have a Syssa 30 CC coming for it. I am presently finishing up a Giant Super Sportster with the same engine, which I had in another plane. The engine was great, the other plane wasn't what I was looking for. So I stripped it out and I'm using the engine and stuff on this.

I'm going to love the Giant Super Sportster, I'm sure, but I've always been a bipe man and I've been looking for the right biplane for a while now.

After a LOT of deliberation, I ordered in my Super Stearman. Let's hope this combo does it for me!

Jim,
You will love the Super Stearman, my firend has an RCCC 26CC in his and it flys very nice. I run a Sato 1.50, four stroke in mine.
They are a blast to fly at the same time. ( I won't say in formation, we haven't gotten that good yet)

Thanks, Jim! It arrived today. I still need to look it over carefully, but it looks really nice.

Nice looking Stearman.. Where was the fly-in held? It looks like it was a pretty good-sized shindig. The last one...I'll guess the Old Town airport?

I finally took mine out of the box today and accounted for all the parts. Looks like it'll be a beautiful bird when it's done. The Monokote job on it is WAY better than the job my Super Sportster had, I'm pleased to say.

It was the State of Maine Scale Shootout held in New Gloucester, ME at the end of August. My Stearman is parked next to Charlie Nelson's Waco.

Sweeeeet. Wish I could have been there. Sure miss home sometimes.. I was actually up there at my place in Plymouth ME about 3 weeks before the shootout, just couldn't be there at the right time to make the event..

That appears to be a thoughtfully set-up bird, Bobby. Items made to be removable for access, well-labeled inside, volt-watches in the cockpit for both batteries. And a nice, neat installation. Very nice.

Hope you don't mind if I imitate one or two of your well-thought-out applications on mine!

Had I not already bought mine, I would have bought this. Alas, I'm stuck with it.

If any of you guys are really thinking about having a Super Stearman, you should look at this one. He's done the hard work for you already.

Thanks for the compliments Jim! I put a lot of work into the plane and really don't want to get rid of it. The plane is sweet if I do say so. I thought I priced it to sell fast but over 2500 views and no bites on it Losing a chunk as it is and really don't want to lose anymore. Need a second one Lol.

Thanks again!

Bobby

Do you know anybody closer to me I could meet and than have them deliver it to you? To ship this such that it made it to you in the same shape it left me in would cost ATON!
