I would like to hear from anyone that gets this kit. What hardware and engines ect. What comes with the kit and the quality of covering etc from unbiased and non-BME connected sources. The plane looks to be built to fly much more than the other that is built much heavier. I may let both first shippments go by before ordering just to see what bugs and or problems come up. There are so many new planes this year that are just not out or very slow to get out. I hope this company can do it!~)

Hey guys... just got off the phone with Max at BME and he told me the shipment has arrived!
It's been a long wait and as I watched my buddies fly thier WH Edge & Extras I began to wonder if I made the right choice in selling my WH Edge...
Fortunately I've been flying the Double Vision and enjoying it so it's not been too bad...
Can't wait to get it...
The second shipment is on time and due in the harbor on Saturday so there will be plenty for new orders.

Good, I was getting antsy. I sure hope its 1.5 Lbs less then the WH and is built well. Needless to say fly well also. To bad it was not here now the weather is rain in Pa and looks like it will be for this weekend.[

Hi Ronk
I do not want to kill your hopes but i really doubt a plane in similar size and wing area to WH Edge can weigh 1.5 lbs less for the same hardware and engine. We are talking about ARF here, not builder kits... Anyway good luck whith your project.
I am going to read all posts on this thread. I have a DA-50 sitting around waiting for WH Edge or BME edge
. We'll see!

Scoub... you've already determined in a earlier post that the BME Edge will have similar (actually a little less) wingloading due to it having a little less wingarea.
The difference will be that the engine will be draggin' around 1.5 lbs less weight... increasing the power to weight ratio significantly.
Mine and my buddies WH Edges came out to right at 18 lbs with smoke... 17 1/4 without. Another club members WH Extra was 18 lbs without smoke...
He's had to fix stab and wing incidences... one stab side was 1/2 degree off and the other 1 degree. Mine has an aileron hardpoint installed 1/2" off from the other requiring that I install another hardpoint to match the geometry. Almost every other hardpoint had to be redrilled because they were all drilled crooked (especially the rudder). Wingtube was too short and very tight, paint chips & runs on the cowl, etc. The answer to these things was "It's reflected in the price."
Lots of guys are loving the WH Edge and love the way it flies... it will be interesting to see what is "reflected in the price" of the BME.
At 17+ lbs, a 50cc is at it's upper limit and comes out of a hover slowly... drop another 1.5 lbs plus and...
But it's all conjecture until some of the Edges reach their anxiously awaiting new owners... I'm one... and I do hope they meet expectations just like evryone else... for me, the WH was somewhat of a dissappointment... and to this day I still can't figure out how they advertised it as 15.5-17 lbs (17 lbs exactly with a G-62)...

Maudib, do you know when the on line instruction manual will be updated for the BME Edge? Max said the first shipment will not have instructions with them; they will need to be downloaded. After waiting this long hearing this is a bunch of @#*^. The people that get them will need to know CG, travels, etc. Whats on there now falls a little short
. From building and flying other Edges I can come close but man, what is Max thinking[:@]? The good news is that my Edge is to be shipped 7-21.

Ronk,
I don't have anything to do with the writing of the manual other than posting it on their site... In fact I really have no "pull" or say at all... I'm a web developer that was contracted to develop & maintain their site...
I would think there will be the critical info available by the time everyone needs it... CG, recommended throws, building caveats... etc...
Cool beans on the shipping tho... can't wait to get my hands on it...

Maudib, I was not trying to put any blame on you. If that is how I came across I do apologize. Max said he has the manual completed but has not had time to "get it to my web site builder". Jest seeing if you had any info.

No apology needed...
I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't directly associated with BME or any of my other design customers. When I see a plane I like, I talk about it. If I have issues I don't suppress them. (as is the case with the WH Edge... I think Tom is a great guy and has been a pleasure doing business with, AND while the WH Edge is a good plane, there were just to many things about it that I just didn't care for.
The Double Vision on the other hand (yes I do Chip's site too) is an awesome plane... the instructions are goofed up, the covering doesn't stick to itself very well, and it's heavier than I was originally led to believe.... but I did say awesome... and it is. Everytime I fly the plane it is a sheer joy. It's very capable, walls like a Yak, flatspins nicely, locks into a hover like no other plane I've flown and lands like a feather... I do wish it was 15-16 lbs so that the DA-50 had more umph out of a hover, but at 17 (+ an oz or two) it flies very light and I hope the DA-50 will pick up the power with some time on it and when I switch to synthetic oil and a 22x10.
Didn't mean to "push the DV" here, but my point is this... if the BME is a dissapointment... I'll be the first to sell it and share my take on it... if it's a winner, then (like anyone else who likes their stuff) will promote it and the company that makes it because I want them to succeed and bring even more great planes to market. It's my personal goal to find the best flying aircraft (for me). I love the DV and 68" Yak... my two favorite planes... I really am hoping that the 87" Yak is even better than the 68" as EF suggests...
EF isn't a customer, but has brought some phenomenal planes to market... I promote them on that premise only.
Back to the manual.... I haven't heard anything from Max, but will contact him today... the moment I get the manual, I'll convert it to PDF and put it online... and this thread will be the first to know about it.

I'm happy to here the manual will be ready soon because My Edge is on its way! I'll let everyone know when it gets here; first impressions, photos, etc. I have all the items ready 3.2 FPE, 5645's elevator and ailerons, 5945 rudder, 2000mah 6v NiMh and pcm receiver(Futaba), 3.5" Dave Brown Ultimate spinner and Rocket City hardware. I will try to post as the construction moves along.

I am glad to here BME is shipping the Edges!
Someone in RCU has already gave me that comment on the Hitec servos:
The 5945 are Fine they are the Coreless ones...good price and almost half of the power consumption of the 5645.
Is it a problem to use 5645? The 5646s cost are very attractive to me!

Ditto on the 5645's I also have used them for two years and no problems. I use 5625's, 5945's and JR8411's if there is a power drain difference its not enough that I can see or be worth thinking about. With my 33% Ultimate I have four 5645's on the ailerons, two 5945's on the elevator and a 5735 on the rudder. I have a 2700 mah Nimh in it and can fly eight 10 min flights in a day and have power left if I wanted to fly more. I'm trying a JR8611 on the rudder of my 33% Extra so far so good. Will most likely change my Ultimate's rudder over to one to save weight. An once here an once there adds up! BTW the Extra has Four 5625's on the ailerons.

The 5645's are fine for this plane... plenty of torque, etc... especially if you go 6 volt... You'll need more on the rudder tho I'd think... Maybe 1 5945 there or better yet the new 5995TG if available by the time you need it... otherwise the JR 8611 would be an excellent choice...
