Aegis, I have a Magnum 180 2 stroke on mine and will let you know how it flies with that. I know it will have unlimited vertical and may even be a bit overpowered but if it flies well with that engine @ 55oz. then the OS 160 should be perfect for it @ 32oz.

anyone have any thoughts about this plane (extreme cap) with a bme-50 on it. main thing i would like to know is what would it do, if anything to the wing loading. i have a o.s. 1.60 on it now, and it flys great. lands better than a trainer. but it would be so cool with the bme-50 on it. plus i already have the engine . or would this just "screw-up" a good thing. thanks

Have you read the entire thread? If not, you should. It will answer all your questions. The gas engine of choice seems to be the BME44. It is light, powerful, and fits inside the cowl well. For glow, either the O.S. 160 or the Moki 1.80. I fly mines with the Magnum 180AR and it is a little on the heavy side though it has lots of power, so I am swapping it out for the Moki 1.80. Read the thread from the beginning, you will be glad you did.

I would have definitely gone gas if I had the money at the time but all I had was the Magnum so I put it in. The BME 44 will allow it to have unlimited vertical, hover at half throttle and land like a trainer what more can you ask for right? Is that all you are waiting on, an engine?

Sorry markdam, the info I posted earlier was for my Wild Hare, I actually used a 3 inch aluminum spinner made by Magnum that I got from Hobby People. I did have to cut that one. If you don't want to cut, you might have to go with True turn. I'm not sure.

I know this thread has been going for a while, but I hought I would add my setup.
I have been sitting on the box for over 10 months, and just decided to open it last week and put it together.
I am using a Mark/Moki 2.1, HS5625 all around and thats as far as I have got.
I am trying to install a Du-bro heavy duty pull-pull system and use the control rod that comes with it, but I think it will cause the wires to rub against the fuse'. Anyone done this? Hints?

i used the dubro pull pull with the heavy duty Air wild hobbies cable ends http://www.airwildhobbies.com/MoreIn...&level=2&id=33
i crossed my wires so they wouldnt touch and little or no contact on the fuse
IE: left side of 3" servo horn has ball link on top and right has ball link on bottom wires crossed in fuse and exit out ill try to post a pic tomorrow
im interested on how yours flies as im using a Webra Bully 35cc (2.10 cu in) on glow twisting a 20x8 NX at 7900

I will let you know when I get it in the air, the sooner the better.
I still need a few more parts, which I am hopefully going to pick up at the Toledo show.
I did make a few mods to the cowl, i.e. a small cut out for the head of the Moki. Took me a while to make sure that the fit is right.
The pull pull I cannot make the wires cross as I used the straight bar that came with it. I think it will work OK, will let you know.

Has anyone had any problems setting up the throws for this aircraft?
I am using the control horns that came with the kit, but can't seem to get enough throw for the maximums on the elevator and the ailerons.
I am nearly an inch short on the elevator and ½ inch on the ailerons. I am also only able to get minimum on the rudder, but that’s because I am using the bar control arm that came with the Du-Bro heavy duty Pull-Pull.
Any suggestions?

Have you flown it like this? The mechanics don't look good. But what do I know. [sm=bananahead.gif]
BTW, I like the fact that you have used the ball links on both ends, what is that you are using in the center of the threaded bar, I would like to do that.

You are right, the mechanics don't look good but it works fine especially since this is such a light plane and the elevators are counter balanced. Those are fiberglass rods made with 2/56 all thread and Hi Tech 625 servos on elevators and ailerons and 645 on pull pull rudder. I have flown it like this many times with no problems.

Tom,
This looks good, what sort of max throw are you getting at the leading edge of the counterballance?
Also have you flown yours? How does it fly with your throws?
I have yet to fly mine, and worry that I will not have enough throw.

I'm just finishing mine. I'll check the throws for you, but I won't have a flight report for a while.
They're predicting up to 4 inches of snow this weekend.
I've read that this Cap flies extremely well with the minimum recommended throws. That's where I plan to start.
I just did an initial balance. Looks like by placing the battery. just aft of the radio compartment, will work out for me. I shouldn't need to add any dead weight!!!
