Jim, I've set mine aside waiting for DPM to mail the 4-40 pull pull connectors that were missing in my kit. Still have not ordered my spinner yet. May be a few month's before I get to the field to fly it since i'm going back to work evenings starting next week. Plus I have to finish my house renovations I stopped last fall when it got too cold. I'm not stalling, I just have too much to do for one old man. I'd love to go to toledo again but! Haven't been there since 1975....I built a scale helicopter I bought after the show then just for toledo but never made it back. Started it in '75 and finished it in '83. Slow build with moving out of state for job and all. Still have it and it's now a conversation piece. I did take third place out of 5 in '75 with my first kavan jet ranger at toledo. Prompted me to do a really scale heli and go back. I'm showing it tomorrow at hobbytown USA in a model contest. Back to cubs! When I get back on mine i'll take some more pic's. Think i'll wait till I fly it to do the lights, I did buy two small flashlights to use the lens from. Got them at ace hdw. Next winters project.

Jim,
Check post # 433 and 435 they make one now for the DPM cub. They made it from picture's Tom Eustler and I sent but I think according to post # 433 the cowl had to be cut some. I'm not sure on the price but seems I heard somewhere it's $65.00 but don't quote me. Don't know how he did it from pictures. Mine has slowed down now that i've gone back to work but i'm about to order my spinner and a few other things to finish. Never did get my du-bro pull pull links from DPM they said they would send. Take care,
Bud

Jim,
I'm on the thread for the long haul, may be a little slow logging in from time to time due to work but i'm staying!!
Howard, if Jim doesn't mind my jumping in I have some pics of mine and Jim said this is what he did. Info on material is on post #367 and one picture. The material is bathroom plumbers pipe that hooks up to the water closet and is available at home depot. I have new front and side views now. This is of course if you're using the O.S. 160

A bit off topic, but I have a question: Will my Saito 130 TD twin pull the DPM Supercub around satisfactorily? I had it in my GP cub 60 (a pretty heavy cub) and it handled it fine. I love those OS Gemini's but I'll have to wait a spell before I can afford one of those AND the DPM Supercub

Daniel,
As Jim said...should fly fine. Not familiar with saito but be prepared to throttle back.
One guy has a YS 120 and has to bring it back to 1/4 throttle. You might want to check the width of the engine to see if it will fit in the super cub cowl without having to cut. Hope you'll post with us when you get started.

Thanks, Bud & all. I ordered my white Super Cub today, but....they won't have any in stock until June [
] Dadgum it!
Somebody on this forum said the DPM Cub cowl width was around 8.5 - 8.75 inches and my Saito 130 TD is 7.5 inches in width...should fit OK. I am going to ask Keleo to do the exhaust pipes for me so that they extend out the proper location on the cowl bottom, right rear. The Saito 130 is well broken in and runs very reliably w/o glow ignition on board. I am beginning to like this engine with it's unique "Harley" sound. The power is, well, e-eh - not that much, about like an early FS 120. That's why I'm hoping it will be enough for the DPM SC.

For those of you using the O.S. 160FT that do not want a large hole in your cowl for the needle valve (I hate holes in my cowl) here's how I did mine. Some of you may already have done this but having the cowl curve under and measuring correctly can be a bear! Put the cowl on using the cowl screws and then place a piece of tape vertically onto the fuselage at the end of the cowl.
Remove the cowl and measure from the tape to the center of your needle valve. Now place the fuselage on a hard surface...not a rug...and measure up to the center of the needle valve. Put the cowl back on again with the screws and using the first measurement you got from the tape measure out again from the edge of the cowl and mark with a pen. Now using scrap balsa or a small dowel (I used a 1/16" dowel) cut the dowel/balsa to the length you got from the hard surface and hold it up to the cowl and mark again with a pen at the top of the dowel. Double check and drill a small hole and it should be right on. Sorry i've been away from the thread lately but between work and waiting for parts to finish my cub i've been a little busy.

[&:]Thanks, Bud...think I'll do the same. I decided to go with the OS 160FT rather than my Saito 130 - I always wanted a 160 twin anyway! It's now on back order along with my DPM Super Cub - should be here in May-June time frame. I also got the EDR-103 glowlite package and the Keleo Exhaust headers (I'm not as handy as you with the pipe bending). Can't wait for these packages to arrive- this thread has gotten me revved
.
BTW, what do you do if your idle needs adjusting? Did you cut a hole for that?

Hi Daniel,
You'll like the EDR-103, very nice unit. I didn't do any hole for the idle adjust, was bad enough having to drill a hole for the needle valve and a vent area in the bottom but then the real one had a vent opening. Never really had a problem with the idle adjust once it was set but if I need to I'll adjust with the cowl off and see what happens with some runups. Worth the wait on the cub, I ordered mine in December and got it in july. Keep us posted.

Hi Jim,
Just got home from work. I got everything last week, my tru-turn spinner, 12mm reamer, 18/6 prop, HD switch and my instrument panel has been ordered. Hooked up my pull pull sunday and just need to finish touching up the interior. Hope to have everything done soon for a photo shoot on floats and then it's back to wheels for the maiden. I'll run up the engine in the yard first before I even think of the field to make sure everything is ok, never ran the engine yet. Been kinda busy with work and my three nights a week has turned into four but hope to get back on the cub. The way our weather has been that may not be for several weeks....cold and windy and misty rain lately. Where's spring???? You have yours ready to go yet? Hope it's warmer where you are. Later.

Well...I've made it this far. Have to add water rudders and cable yet for floats. Then it's back to wheels and check all throws again before maiden. Got my instrument panel yesterday so the interior is all done. Hope everyone is enjoying theirs and waiting to see some new reports.

Bud,
Congratulations! That is one gorgeous looking airplane! Great job! Don't even sweat the maiden, it'll fly like a dream. I flew mine all day today and it's such a sweet airplane. Keep us updated on how she does and also if you can, post some pictures of the finished interior.

Thanks a lot Orvel, glad you're enjoying yours. Did you mix any rudder in on yours? Here's some interior shots as you requested. The servos are behind the rear seat and batt. and receiver are under the floor. So far the balance is right on. I dropped the instrument panel lower half down and mounted my onboard glow light and charging jack there. Covered it with the same thing I used for the top of the dash.....thin black rubber pad about 1/16" thick from wal mart 33 cents.
