Slingshot,

Flip her over and you want to be around 5-3/4.

8-1/2" is better. And I'm not talking planes. Patty says, "Hello."

slingshot, I also measured out the cg point as you described and got 6 1/4" from the leading edge at the wing root. The cg is on the wing tube and just about an eighth of an inch forward of its midpoint, by eye-balling it. I haven't flown it yet, probably will in a week, if you want to wait for a report...

Don't let anybody fool you. Bolly props are good. There only problem is ripping at high RPM. This can be made better by reshapping the tips. For the 3.2 Brisson says 22 X 8 is the largest prop they recommend. A 23 X 8 or 22 X10 should drop the speed about 500 RPM's . 3W makes a prop that is almost identical to the Menz. Both would be a good choice. I have 3W and Mejhlik props and to be honest they are very close in performance.
I hope this helps.

Default 3 MAIDENS TODAY!!

after a skecthy first flight with severe rf problems over a month ago...
she came back with a vengeance today...

she had 3 wonderful flights with a nice breeze straight down the runway...and only 1 other guy in the air...

we did a few flatlaps...a couple of loops...a few snaps...and so on...
she flew beautifully and landed practically on her own...

i cant wait till dawn.

wow.

I finally got tired of waiting for a ZDZ 50 and ordered a BME 50. I considered DA, ZDZ 60, 3W and Taurus. BME won primarily for the fact that its carb is side-mounted, which allows me to mount the motor without cutting into and weakening the engine box. It looks like a throttle linkage will be easy to hook up and access to needle valves is from the bottom, so I won't have to butcher the cowl too much. Price was pretty good too, came out to $600 with a pitts muffler. Can any of you show me some pictures of BME 50 mounted on Patty and give me some advice before I mount the engine?
Thanks in advance.
