OK.
Ill probably fly with the following:
XOAR 13x8 elec. prop
46 BL outrunner, eflite
LiPo 5000 mAh 4S Thunder Power
Castle 80 amp speed control
JR 537 servos (to be confirmed)
Do you think I can degrade the speed control? I kinda have a budget

The speed control is one part you don't want to skimp on. I think the Power 46 will pull 55 burst amps, so you could use a 60 amp ESC. Just don't go full power too long. You really don't need full power except on take off and if you get into trouble
Good luck!

Good luck!

trib,
I use the prop adaptor from the Power 46. It looks very close to the scale pointy spinner flown by Don MacLaren. Most WWI planes didn't have a spinner. Just a bolt pattern on the prop. But Mac's did. I painted mine red to be just like the documentation shown in the profile from Sopwith Camel Aces.
The Pro 60 Eflite esc has a switching BEC, and is getting good results. I would go with that one. I use DS821 servos that came with my DX7 radio.
As for barrel rolls, look at the Camel do a nice roll in the middle of this flight footage!

TCLARIDGE,
Are you sure that the 60 amp esc will do? Remember that I am using a 5000 mAh battery, BL 46 outrunner, and a 13x8. You could be right, ist's just that I was told that I needed a bigger esc.
thanks

trib,
Hardware is very extensive, so you just need glue and the electronics you mentioned, and battery and motor of course. I think the Eflite Pro Esc 60 is good enough. Max pull will be a little over 50 amps static, and less in the air. Or go with a JETI 77 and and Ultimate BEC. That is what I am running now.
If you get add-on #3 for G3, I can post the electronic setup and the H9 variant. Let me know if you want it.

Maybe they told you you needed a bigger bec not esc. It's pretty much stretching the limits of the built in bec in the Castle esc. I'd say either add a ubec (stand alone) or an rx pack.

As for the O-rings, I only used one per side, and I keep the others as spares. No LUB to be used, just keep them dry and clean. The suspension is very scale with one O-ring per side. I like to have the LG take full deflection at 2 x AUW, or one side takes full deflection at AUW. Works great.
I did break an O-ring when I stretched it. So I don't do that anymore.
GG, what do you measure for watts at full static throttle? What are your flight times and battery mah? I like the idea of swinging a bigger prop!
PS GG is spot on with the Esc and BEC. And I heard of some issues with the Castle BEC setup with a Spektrum system. Not sure of the issues, but might be worth some research if you are using a Castle.

To get a nice WWI warbird finish, paint ALL parts with Topflite Lusterkote Flat Clear. I painted the cowl, struts, basically everything with it. Take your time and do it in a well vented place outside if possible. You shouldn't paint below 50 deg because it gets gooy and doesn't set well.
This makes repairs harder, as the paint melts if ironed. MAKE SURE TO IRON EVERYTHING BEFORE PAINTING. If you do need to make a repair, and the paint smears (it will), just rub it down with steel wool, and respray the area. Good as new.

I have been running my Power 46 with a Castle 80 amp ESC and using the ESC for receiver power. I haven't had any issues, but have had issues with other Castle ESCs with my Spektrum. It's probably a good idea to use a UBEC or recevier pack just to be safe.
Instead of the o-rings use those hair scrungies that girls use to tie their hair back. They work great and last much longer. Also, if you want a good pilot figure for you plane check out Aces of Iron. They have some awsome pilot busts.

T, from what's left of my muddled mind, around 43 amps, roughly 9 pounds of thrust(nothing like 1:1
) and right around 45+ mph. As for duration........honestly I don't know.
And it ain't a Camel unless the man/ dog(?) himself is behind the controls

H9 Camel is close to 1/6 scale. I prefer the Tamiya flat clear spray. Be ready to go through a few cans using the 3 oz size. Doesn't take a big blast or thick coat though. Just dust it, let it dry, and see if it looks even. If not, hit it again. Take your time and it will be worth it.
