Oh yes all the birds survived and rolled right back to flight table under power everytime,,, AWESOME !! there were 3 walk of shames that day but I was not a victem,, well this time anyway, next week could have a new story lol.

Adam sorry to hear about the funtana crash, but glad shes ready to go again,, Its all apart of the hobby....

I went about 30 some odd years also with the finger balance method, but when it was close I always cheated a little in favor of which way it needed to go,, I was only hurting myself though, but it does work and never had a problem, so now I am accurate to the centimeter lol. and I think I bought the CG toy just to buy something for the hobby one day, its definitely cheap enough, probably the least expensive thing to invest in and lasts the longest.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAW! I got a full day of absolute beautifull flying in today. The weather was about 70 and a little breezy but it sure makes the harrier landings look efortless. Ok so the flight report, I put the new prop to the test on the 40 and it was absolutely perfect. I can climb like crazy out of a hover till that little yellow bird just disapears into the clouds. I LOVE IT! I didnt get the new prop on the 150 due to some issues getting it bored out for the shaft and I need some washers cause it one of those apc junkers. I know that big tigre is going to be a little tamer with the new prop so I need to get it on. Oh yeah for everyone about the large 2 strokes and fuel consumption.........I flew my 150 for a total of 9 flights at 12 minutes each and used probaly a quart and a half of fuel and I was flying the hell out of her. I have all 2 strokes on all of my planes and the way I see it is if I burn 1 gallon every outing that is way more than 18 dollars worth of fun. If you do the math were can you go all day and have the time of your life for less than 20 bucks, if anyone knows tell me where it is and I am leaving to go there NOW! I have the big magnum 180xl 2 stroke on my 28% cap and I run 1 horse more than a g62. In my opinion at 5.2 horse I wouldnt even think to pull her off to put on a gasser, and one flip of the prop every time and its alive with no issues of timing or tuning to deal with. Ok now thats been said I had a blast today and many more are coming.......Fly safe!

Well, the weather man was wrong again today. Only, this time the weather was good!!! Got about 6 hours of flying in today. Mostly on the T@$T but 2 sucessful flights on the Edge. Thanks for all the help on tuning the Saito 1.80. Shes running great now. Turns out it was lean on the bottom and the top ends. Slight head wind down the runway helped me pull off some great harrier landings with the T@$T. That plane is gonna ruin me for all others!! Glad to hear some of you fellas had great days as well. Keep the reports coming in!

Went out today with the wind nice and steady. There were quite a few others there, but nobody was using my channel. The day turned out great. My OS 55 AX and Tango worked as a team, never once letting me down. I did try a few stall maneuvers, but I guess I sort of chickened out. The club superstar stick jockey finally got something different for a new machine, which was a treat: an RC Boys Decathlon! He was flying that thing like a T_-_t, full elevator deflection and every thing else. He would deliberately tip-stall at altitude, and recover. He had it tumbling out of the sky like was some S.P.A.D. gone mad. I thought he was going to lose it a few times, but he continued to play with the wind like "Tommy" played with the pinball on that Who song. I wish I was that good and had some of his money!

Having more money to throw around just makes one careless.........it's the poor schmuck that has a little "emotional investment" in his plane that's eventually going to be a better and safer pilot in the long run. I know of guy with a hanger full of the "latest and greatest"......and every time I've watched him fly........his planes follow the same flightpath.........this big sweeping arc from takeoff to rubble pile.

Have to aggre with that downtrodden. A little emotional investment makes a big difference. I still have 3 planes i havent flow. cause i have put so much time into trying to get them right. That i don't want to see them end up in a pile of rubble. [X(]

Yes I agree also, when you have money to throw away, you seem too, even if it is crashing away,

T_ _ _ Ted Great to hear,,, thats what its all about...[8D]

Plowboy,, yes its tough to want to take anything else off knowing the T_ _ _ T is sitting right behind you, but we manage LOL

Norfolk,, You'll get there sooner then you think, Just keep getting out there and Fly Fly Fly it will all be second nature soon.

Down,

So true. Well put. The more you have, the more you spend and the more you have to lose. I have learned a few life lessons in that regard here in the last 6 months. A little humility is good for the soul.

Thanks for the encouragement, Waldo and others. The guy with the Super Decathlon certainly has money to burn, no doubt. And he has crashed others that were even bigger! As for me, at times I can make the Tango look a lot like a trainer when it's in the air, even getting it off the ground as long as I'm facing the wind. So far, I have learned to recover during takeoff when all heck breaks loose in a cross wind, I guess I don't think I just react, sort of a reflex. Man, I hate it when that happens, it's almost as fast as a blink!

I ended up with a hard landing today, was too far up when I flared. Well, it came down hard enough on the soft grass where it hit the prop. Bent the gear slightly, but man it's a tough bird, nothing else out of the ordinary. The prop is just fine. I didn't even notice the gear until a couple flights later. Want something with a strong gear? Just add a Tango (or is it a high-wing T-_-t?) to the herd...

I had the idle set too low on the 55 AX, which resulted in a couple dead sticks got that fixed. I got to thinking that I could put my Tango up on a high-start and go looking for thermals with the Spirits and Spectras!

Well my Nylon bolts have finally worn out Stripped on both TVV!$T. So off to the hardware store for some metal ones. My friend that i fly with said that the nylon ones are used Cause there meant to break.
Well i figure if i come in and do a cart wheel with my plane there isn't going to be much left anyway. And it's alot better then having the wing Break away from the plane in flight. As i'm sure we have all witnessed on Youtube. All my other planes have metal bolts holding the wings on So what's the difference i won't be replacing bolts every year.[:'(]

I told him the manufacture put nylon bolt's in these planes cause there cheap and mass produced. Nylon's cheaper then 10,000 Quality Screws. Bet that the pitts python i dream of getting one day when i get rich doesnt have Nylon screws holding its wings on.

Since chuck993 doesnt seem to state he has a TVV!$T. B

I just got the Twist 40 a couple of weeks ago, it has a Evo 52NX in it with an APC 13x4W, flies great, lots of fun...I already had a crash and a rebuild on it, then tested it out this weekend, flies great...LOL

Also, reference nylon bolts, they break during some crashes saving the wing and fuse, I can testify to that...metal wing bolts will not break, snaping the fuse, wing or both...

Well boys had a little accident.....was finishing my basement and nailed through 2 2x4's and the nail continued to my hand but all is going to be ok I guess. I have to show these pics to you all. Kind of weird looking but kind of cool too, I hope no one has a weak stomach. My hand was 8 inches from the gun and the nail went through 2 pieces of 2x4 before hitting me. I am sure glad those boards were there or my flying season might have been ended quickly (work too). but the flying part would have ruined my summer. Enjoy and watch out for flying objects.

I have seen more than one guy put a nail through his finger. What usually would happen is a carpenter wouold be holding a piece of wood and the nail would hit a metal plate or another nail and turn around shoot right out the side of the wood and going through a finger tip. Never a pleasant experience to even see let alone have happen to you. Hope it heals quickly.

well I dont feel anything right now.....thank god for prescriptions. I just talked to the orthopedic doc and he said my xray shows a good split but really nothing for them to do except let nature do its job. It does hurt a little when the meds wear off but nothing I cant handle. Oh well I am going flying in a little while so we will see how she works.

Good luck with your flight Twisted. I have had a nail through my hand and know what that feels like, at least it didnt go all the way through. The nail i had in my hand went all the way through the center. I was 10 when it happened no stiches or anything my dad just pulled it out and poured hydrogen peroxide on it and bandaged it up i healed but it sure hurt like hell for a few days.

Well welcome to the TVV!$T thread Chuck.. I guess i'll just replace my bolts with the nylon ones if i can find any at the hardware store. Guess it may save the plane if it crashes. Plus keeps it a little lighter.

GOOD GOD MAN,,[:@] Ahh the joys of work Its a good thing that was all it hit. Happy flying to you, and yes lets not be ending the flying season that fast,, hell it just started for me.

I was almost the victim of a head shot one day, we were holding the frames to walls together when I was building our garage, and another guy was going to shoot from the bottom plate into the stud and his 1st shot missed completely and all I saw was a flash of Silver and then a small breeze from a nail flying by my face, I took the gun from him and then realized he ended his work day at noon with his construction crew and they extended happy hour that Friday, [sm=bananahead.gif][sm=spinnyeyes.gif] well when he got home and saw us working he decided to come on over and see what we were doing and offered his help, had we been paying attention I would have seen that big ol bird fed cat smile and never allowed him to even touch the gun,,, LOL Gotta stay on your toes constantly I tell you.. Dude!!! That is so freakin' cool Twisted!!! Great picture. Sorry it happened to you, I'm sure it hurts but thanks for sharing the pics!! I had a guy on my crew once who was shooting 2 x 4s together on a table jig and he kept putting his hand on the board to be nailed to pull it tight but way too close to the nail site. I warned him time and again but of course he didn't listen and he got bit! He didn't want to go to the doctor so I grabbed a pair of dikes and yanked it out. I thought he was gonna pass out!! It was really kinda funny, (in a sadistic sort of way).

NorForSo Try using a lot more throttle on takeoff and remember to keep the wing toward the wind slightly down. Full throttle!!!

That's what I've been doing. I get it rolling, then gun the throttle to get it up there as quick as I can, full throttle. It often goes vertical and usually won't drop a wing. I level off and slow down once it clears. The best thing to do, is let the Tango windmill so you're facing the head wind, then go for it. If you use too much aileron to keep the wing towards the wind down, it'll over-correct. Maybe using low-rates during takeoff would be better in a cross wind.

twistedskies: I'm not sure what to make of that hand of yours, but you look like a stud! When you grin and bear it, those are the types of clients the emergency rooms like best. One of my pinkies met an APC prop once, which I bandaged up and flew a couple flights anyway. Went home, put my stuff away. Went to the ER and asked if I could "borrow one of their sewing machines". Left with some pills, about 7 stitches, and maybe a new recruit to the hobby! With a little luck, maybe you could convince one of the nurses to switch careers .

I really hate to do this I am sure I will be talked about so badly..I just mostly read on here.. I do have a twist atleast....But twisted there is no way that nail went thru 2 2x4's and then into your hand..The paper is still on the nail..I have been in construction for about 10 years now..I have saw my share of nails in things..Fingers,legs,arms.. I have saw it all..Never have I saw a gun shoot a nail thru 2 2x4's and keep the paper on it like that...Judging by the paper on the nail and the full round head it was shot out of a knock off paslode nail gun..Which the most PSI you put into that is 100 at the most..85 to 90 for normal work..So at 100 PSI that will just sink the head of the nail real good into the first one..And before any of you say I am lying I just pulled out my bostitch nailer, Shooting a 12 d nail..which is 2 3/8" long and cranked the air up to 102.."Hated to push it any farther" And just sank the head of it in..110 PSI will blow the seals out..
Sorry to make anyone mad..
