it's real problem.

Why ? your motor cycle not operational?
some times I wish these charter clubs have club vans to pick up menbers who don't have any transpertation.

Let's see, what could be some options for you? Are you sure you've talked to everyone in the club? Is there a phone/email/address list?

You can try a new club, try finding someone local who might be interested in flying, put an ad in the paper for a ride-share...

The club van thing doesn't work for a few reasons: insurance and vehicle costs and maintenance costs are not cheap, and it's hard to designate people to be drivers. Most people are fine with carpooling and that generally works for most people who need it, but of course not everyone.

Maybe you can try park fliers? Then you wouldn't need a club?

My bike works just fine It's my first bike and all I want to do is ride it. Unfortunately my planes are WAY too big to get transport on a motorcycle, but I believe I will find a good balance between riding and flying at some point.

Maybe you could get yourself a donkey and a cart. Hay is a lot cheaper than gasoline!

HA!! I'm thinking about selling my beloved HAWG so I can have more room in the garage for planes! It was nice riding weather yesterday, a bit too windy to fly, so went riding instead. I know, I know, priorities need to be re organized! HA! Did manage to run another tank of fuel through the decathlon. Had to tweek the throttle throw a bit. Also adjusted the aileron travel. Oops I just remembered that I didn't check the Tx rate lever, I hope it was set to normal and not dual rates when I may the aileron adjustments. Hope to maidan the Decathlon one night this week.

Yeah, even better they could send personal stretch limos with champagne, caviar and a few super-models while they're at it. I mean, most clubs are just rollin' in the money, they need to spend it somehow.

Just make sure your cart isn't tail heavy on the way to the flying field.

Sounds like RC flying is a luxury that the OP is going to have to forego for a little while. I don't think I'd be talking about going flying if I didn't have a car.

Let me ask you this... how old are you?

I can understand a kid who's parents may not necessarily be supportive looking for transportation to the field. In that case, find a few club members you can trust and befriend them.

An adult however is a different story.

I know this is off topic for a beginners forum but I think it needs to be said here. We all have been in some pretty tough situations in life, I am no exception. When in those situations though you have to set priorities. Things like model airplanes, jet skis and 65" LCD TV's gotta wait. The more basic stuff has to come first such as reliable transportation, a good job, safe place to live, no debt, savings, etc. All the fun stuff comes later. I personally had to wait quite a few years before I had the disposable income to get into this hobby. I actually could have done it much sooner except I was too much into cool cars, credit cards, beer and women.

I'm not trying to sound harsh. These are the realities of life though. Once priorites are set and a plan is put in motion however it won't be long until someone can be the guy showing up at the field with the brand new dually and 14 foot trailer full of goreous, expensive airplanes. Only you have the power to get what you want in life. Anything can be accomplished with discipline and hard work. The world, "the man" and everbody else don't owe you thing.

I truly understand when one begans this hobby that all you want to do is fly. I bought things I could`nt afford. Flew when weather conditions were less than desirable and so on. It was very addictive and still is.
But if you concentrate your efforts on resolving your car issues, your problems will be solved.
You say you`ve just started your training ? I,m surprized your instructor does,nt give you a ride. Most instructors I know , gain so much pleasure from instructing , would be more than happy to give you a ride. These people are some of the best hearted people you,ll find in the hobby.
In your other post in the forums , you were given a huge list of Clubs in your area, contact the ones closest to you and go from there.
I wish you the best of luck, Take care of your basic needs first and the hobby will take care of it,s self.

Thanks, Chuck....you beat me to the punch.

If you're not a kid, then I'm going to be a little harsher than Chuck:

If you can't afford an $800 pick-up (or a $500 car), I don't know how you can afford this hobby. Luckily (in this scenario), I'm 19 and my dad provides the pick-up . However, I approached him with an idea to cover our other cars (the ones we love) without the insurance company charging my brother and myself incredible amounts of money. I literally figured out how to get the truck to pay for itself over the course of 1 year.

I'm just thinking that you can get cars for VERY little. Your copy of Realflight plus a $200 electric park flyer and a few gallons of glow add up to one car option. Priorities will get you through, and solutions should never come down to you getting anything for free. Especially if you really think you deserve it.

I'm 49 going on to 50,
and yes I lost my car about 5 years ago, but I won't go into detail about it.
I wonder what Real Flight Sims goes for these days

Do you have a job?
Do you support a family?
How do you make it to the grocery store?
Do you walk to work?
If you don't have a job and are able, then why complain about not having a car?

Depending on how you would answer these questions might be the reason why no one will help you get to the field. I wouldn't help someone not willing to help themselves either. Maybe theres a lot more to this story than is being told, but you haven't painted the best picture of yourself. My apologies if it's true, but don't have bad feelings for those who might criticize because you have not revealed this information. It's just a harsh reality that there are many folks out there who are in much worse scenarios and can't help it, so I go out of my way to help them. Maybe you are included, but at least you have a plane.

RealFlight, airplanes, club dues, AMA membership, and all other luxuries such as meals out, cable TV, cell phone, etc. would be nothing more than a future dream if I were in your position. My focus would be a decent job, affordable but reliable vehicle, decent place to live, insurance to cover my butt if something happens, money in the bank and so on.

Are you just trying to get people worked up here by making up some bogus story? (I am starting to believe this is the case) If so, you are succeeding. Or are you really just this mixed up? Either way it is sad.

I am going to be harsh this time... a 49 year old man should have this stuff figured out by now... period. I'm sorry but that's how it is. I've been in a few tough positions in my life and without exception the person to blame for it was always me in every case.

If you are for real and really in this predicament, sell your planes, work your a** off and get your priorities in order. The fun stuff will come in time.

I'm done commenting. Hopefully one of the moderators will lock this ridiculous thread.

Voyager

If you are considering a real flight sim then you can buy a car. I have been homeless in the past had all my household and plane stuff in a storage place. I have bought cars that will move on its own power for a $100.00 it may not be pretty but it moves you just have to look and haggle with the seller. I drove a Geo Metro for a while I could get two forty size airplanes in it. Not pretty but great on gas. Lousy for hauling airplanes. The real flight sim is $200.00 Take $150 and go buy a beater car that moves and then buy a simple simulator on ebay for $20 and you have enough left over for some gas.

If you have been without a car for five years there is alot more here than just a ride to a local field.

Just my thoughts I am a year younger than you. Be 49 on the 5th of Sept.

The guys at the field don't care what you drive they just want you to come to the field and have fun flying. You contact a club member especially your instructor he will probably come get you!! I know I would if I was there. Because I have "been there, done that."

In that case, I would be one of the first to volunteer to give you a ride. I might even let you use my fuel. I might also have 2 lunches accidentally packed. I appreciate hard workers, even ones that might have fallen on hard times.
