Has anyone had troubles with the pull starter?
First weekend mine has the pull cord come away
Second weekend the round bit the cord wraps round sheared in two.

Im now hoping the spares are in the uk.

Thanks Lee

All the spares in the UK come through Irvine ltd http://www.irvineltd.com/products/cars/CENGenesis.html there website needs updating. If your lhs dosen't have the parts and Irvine do you should get them in a couple of days. I had to get a front wishbone took 3 days and a new servo (under warranty) 5 days.

I highly recommend you upgrade to the Roto starter! Way easier to start the truck.

Powerslave,

Here are a few tips. When you are priming the engine. Make sure that you prime it until the fuel JUST enters the carb. This is all that is needed. Literally only a second or two of priming in needed. If you prime it too much the engine floods and the ROTO-Tech Starter will struggle when trying to start the engine. Remeber, only minimal priming is needed. Also, always make sure that you charge your battery. There is nothing worse then going out to run your truck, Getting to your destination or track, and your battery begins to die while starting the truck.......

A letter to Irvine Limited Uk

Dear Ian

As per phone call to you please find enclosed part number GS 092 Dogbone for replacement with which the pins have fallen out.

I also seem to be having trouble locating the M5x5 grub screws for this truck which also seems to come loose and fall out as have many other screws e.g. the base plate screws to the point I have had to rebuild the entire truck to cure this problem.

Could you please tell me where I can get these and other parts in the UK, as I cannot seem to find anyone who wants to stock Genesis 46 parts. They just tell me they sent back the trucks due to too many faults, which I can’t disagree with as mine has spent 2 ½ weeks out of the 4 weeks I have had it, at the shop which is about 45 miles away from me for repair because of faults. E.g. would not start from new, faults with radio gear because as I was told they are very low budget components so I had to pay for a better one to be installed which now works fine, front end rebuild to repair damage due to the fail safe going wrong even after it was replaced so I have had to remove it in order to be able to run the truck safely.

I really would never recommend this truck to anyone except as a £550 ornament as it spend more time in bits than as they quote “ready to rockâ€.

Many thanks

I did not get any reply to this letter and the part turned up 12 days later after a number of phone calls [:@] not a next day turnaround as they promised, so yet another 2 weeks in bits so making it 41/2 weeks out of 6 it has sat without use.[]

Sounds like you've had all the problems that i have had[] i managed to get some grub screws from a local trade screw supplier called Allfix. As they are quite large compared to any other nitro model none of my lhs had anything close. Was your Genesis roof scratched when you got it? the shop i got it from were very apolagitic (can't spell that) and took some hi res pictures and sent them to Irvine ltd but they have not replied in 3 to 4 weeks so i guess they don't give a toss. I won't be buying anything that's supplied via Irvine ltd again, when my steering servo went up in smoke they sent a new one out in a few days (good for them) but tried to charge my lhs for the privalige ffs.

thanks CEN you guy's are great and i dont care what anyone says i think the genesis is great i love it heaps, granted ppl have had there problems with it from time to time and from what i can understand CEN are doing all that they can to help out, maybe a RTR RC truck should not shave any problems but hey im only new to the RC game (the genesis is my first) and im in love CEN have gone out on a whim and made a truck that is the biggest tuffest mother of god truck and all in all have done a great job the only things i would have to say is that in my case the pull starter was no good piss out on me in the first week but hey i could say that part of that would be luck of experience starting these suckers.
and the controller looks a bit cheap !! which is no biggy but work fine so no real complaints, Only have had it for 2 weeks and have crashed it into a tree the supplier in australian was great and had the replacment hear over night,
i know this maybe not really related to the topic but im getting a little anoyed with all the *****ing that has been going on in some of these forums and think that CEN deserve to be given a little credit despite some of the problems that have been occuring, i ask this question to are all these people with issue after issue following the guidelines of operation ??? these things are a highly technical bit of kit not a toy !!! i just think at time a little credit and thanks would not go astray for CEN being inovative and stuff after all this is what make technology go forward not backwards. last but not least can CEN really test there products 100% for all conditions of use if they did the thing would never get released, Everyone is different and as such we operate our product differently.

lets start a thred with all the cool things we have done with our genesis and the cool things that we have tryed and mybe not been the best anyways here to more sideways action and all the best from australia
happy RCing to all,

powerslave,

Thanks for your comments. There are thousands and thousands of these trucks out in the market. The complaints found here are a "small" Fraction. Message boards are places to seek information about your vehicles, however some people think it is a way to release their frustrations. We have and always will do our best to make our customers happy. As , we know that the GENESIS 46 is above and beyond its competition. It is simply in a class of its own. Look for racing results in the near future. We will soon be racing the GENESIS to prove what it has at the tracks.. ; ) THANKS AGAIN.

Regards,
CEN RACING

BILKO1
yes the shell was scratched due to packing but everyone i looked at was the same so no point in complaining cause your right they don't give a toss.

powerslave
You would be a bit pi**ed off aswell if you lived in the Uk where the only support you have for these trucks does not want to know. I am sure if we did have Cen support in this country we would be able to all sort out our problems but we dont, and as for following the guidelines of operation there is not much you can do when 2 new cen failsafe fail in a row and write off the front of your truck, me one time and the model shop had the same problem with a new failsafe when i took it back, so had 2 new front ends and im sure the model shop knows what they are doing even if you say i do not which i can assure you i do. Have you thought that maybe people want to know the problems with these trucks so they know what to expect when buying one, think about that. And do you think it is right then for a main supplier to ignor any letters of complaint ?

Fitted the new GS 092 Dogbone lastnight and guess what within 10 minutes of running it today (in first gear only as I'm still running it in) the pins fell out once again. Guess that will be yet another 2 weeks with no truck [&o]

I really could understand these problems from a truck that had been raced a few times but this has no more than 3 hrs running time.

Homerxp,

If your local CEN Rep's are not taking care of you in a timely manner then you can go through the US Department. If you contact [email protected] they may be able to help you out. All that they request is that the customer pays shipping fees if shipping out of the United States.

I have already rang Cen in the Us but was told they do not ship to the Uk so i am a little confused.

I think it was released here to soon as not many parts are available here yet and i'm just fed up now with Irvine Limited because they say ALL parts are avaliable if ordered through my local shop, so i order them, then Irvine Limited say they dont have any in stock because no arrangement have been made with Cen Us for that part e.g base plate screws. And why does it take 2 weeks for a next day turnaround if they have the part in stock.

They also told me that there have been no other problem and no trucks returned to them, 6 out of the 7 people I know that have these trucks have had similar problems so once again they have lied to me saying its a one off and it happens i really dont call 13 faults acceptable but do i get any acknowledgement to my letter of complaint, the answer is the same as everyone elses No they really dont give a dam about us.

Irvine really do need a swift kick from Cen head office.

I know this is a pain but would it hurt if they told us the truth for once so we know what to expect, then maybe we will not complain so much.

Thanks

I have already rang Cen in the Us but was told they do not ship to the Uk so i am a little confused.
I have also contaced CEN U.S. because the truck I had, was one of the first batch cars and I urgently needed the care-pack... I contacted CEN U.S. and they told me to send them the orange failsafe and sales-receipt... unfortunally this did never arrive in teh U.S.

After a few mails they told me that the we willing to issue me the care-pack, but that they couldn't ship outside the U.S. I told them that I was willing to pay the extra costs for shipping... 2 days later I got a message that they would send me the care-pack... I didnt have to pay anything for it...

Sometimes it takes very long for CEN to answer any e-mail...
