HEE hee hee I'm just about to try that one again--the inverted CX!
But here's a crash report!
I was just testing the 2ESC thing, strapped it on piggyback to the CRex
and was swooping and hovering, it flew so well I decided to try a fast pirouette (never done inside with this heli, only the CXs)--that worked pretty well, again, left, right, left, right, faster, faster, woops! drifted into the bookcase, I dumped the throttle--But I forgot I was flying in IDLE-UP! so it dead-chickened hard for a couple seconds before I snapped and hit the throttle hold...
2 symm blades crunched (repairable)
1 main shaft, bent, 1 tooth on the gear stripped ( 2 spares on hand but this one is fixable if i can stand the noise of the missing tooth)
one pitch link bent (straightened)
one washout link lost (found)
TRex canopy popped off and went flying, no damage
The most fun I've had all day--ROTF as Dave would say!!!
Definitely pilot error--it was towards the end of the battery, system performed really well, hard flying idle up and lots of swoops to load the gyro/tail motor, and the mosfets were barely warm after the crash.
No more worries about frying a 3-in-1 just because of a few seconds delay in powering down after a crash...

OK, all fixed and flying again. The one gear tooth isn't that noisy, shaft straightened, so flying again at zero cost after a pretty severe crash, really, dead chicken dance and all.
Darn--those blades are starting to look ratty.[sm=confused_smile.gif]

I just ordered a BCPP along with some other stuff. ([link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5082446/tm.htm]Thread is here[/link])
The one I ordered comes with free training gear(yay), but it seems as if maybe the G90 gyro is another add on I should get too.
I'm so jacked...I can't wait...

Ofnsve,
A lot of loot, $$$$. You'll love the CP Pro and the bi-plane is awesome. Nice choice on charger too.
Take it slow with the heli, have you flown one before, I see your excited that it comes with free training gear.
If you've never flown and don't have anyone to help you with the heli. Read and try Radd's school of rotarty flight.
Here's a link for that: http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html
Good luck and have fun,
Dave / Choppersrule

choppersrule, I know it's a lot of money, but I thought if I'm going to do this I'm going to do it right. I did a lot of research before sitting down and spending that much in less than ten minutes online.
I've never flown a heli before but have experience with planes. Also, before I purchases any new equipment I bought the G3 flight sim and have put in a lot of hours on that. So the free training gear was a nice thing to get. My friend has a Blade CX and he said I could have his training gear if I didn't get any with my copter.
Thanks for the link to Radd. It is now a bookmark here on my work puter and at home so I can read through it at both places.
And here I sit waiting for my stuff.....

Commander,
Here's a pic of me, the old guy, hovering the Pro in my basement. Took me awhile to get the confidence to fly in such a small area though. Have loads of fun with it, been doing the helis for about 1 year. And lots of $$$$$.

Ofnsve,
Sounds like you did your homework, doing the research and being sure what you wanted. Yea, 10 minutes online can cost any of us a few bucks. Last night, online, I ordered some spare parts, and some needed parts to get one of my helis back in action. $100 bucks in just a few clicks.
Take care, go slow and have fun,
Dave / Choppersrule

Hi Fellas, Choppersrule here,
Spare parts?
Hobby Zone has parts for all the Blade helis, CX, CX2, CP and CP Pro, plus a lot of upgrade stuff. Only reason I'm posting this, is that I've been using them for almost a year now. And I've never had any parts backordered, plus they deliver in 3 or 4 working days.
Here's the link, try it out: http://www.hobbyzone.com/rc_helicopt...ade_cp_pro.htm
Same pricing as most sites, I think the most is controlled by the manufacture.

My latest, a "Cloaking Device" for helis. Only trouble is I can't make the blades go away. Any ideas? It works on the principle of a spindled electro-manis fluctuation expulsion concept.
I can't figure it out, can you?

Alex,
This hobby is to much fun, but $$$$. I like being creative and taking things apart to see how they work. Been like that forever.
The super-landing gear is Cloaked, I did that with the linear-molecular transverse aculite diversion technique.

The formula for that is: a2*q1c / 33h7 + 64lst - pi * L6G9.. hope this helps! Still trying to make the blade cloak. Been working on this project for 30 minutes.[8D] Should have it figured out by noon tomorrow.[sm=50_50.gif]

Oh sure, you can make a heli invisible. Big deal, I'd like to see (listen?) you try to fly it after, that would be the challenge.
I've gotten into fast forward flight with my CP pro and I am doing good. this thing really moves out good. With my regular CP I just put a brushless in, used the e-flite 4100kv. I have flown it once, but it was windy so I didn't stay up long. Talk about power though, I can't wait to max this one out and see how fast she goes. I can't get over the power it has though. I think at this point I am going to keep the pro pretty much stock, and hop up the CP. The pro is going to get a set of super gear though. Both will get CF mains eventually.
Upgrading the regualr cp wasn't too difficult. I opened up my 4 in1 and soldered in a cut down extension to the chanell three signal and ground leads. Then I soldered the ESC power wires to the deans battery connector in addition to the 4 in 1 power. I added a lipo softcut device to it also. I am unsure as to how the soft cut will act in a heli. Should be interesting.

Ifixairplanes,
See attached before and after cloaking.[8D] In the cloaked mode, the helis is about 3 feet in front of me and about 2 feet off the ground.
Glad to hear your making progress and having a lot of fun doing some modes.
If you get the super skids, get the Super Skids Version 3. It's much more beefy than Version 2, the skids are a little longer and the battery tray is bigger. So you can put in a 1200mAh battery with no problem. With Version 2, the 1200 battery won't fit.
It's a little more $$$, but you'll be glad you did. I have the V2 on my CP and the V3 on the Pro. See picture, V2 is on the left and V3 on the right. I think they are almost indestrucable. Also, the battery tray that comes with V2 or V3, you have to use rubber bands to secure your battery, if you use the velcro tape, just use the original battery tray from your existing skids. Buy the kit, not assembled one. Only takes about 10 minutes to put together and mount on the Pro. Everything is included, nice outfit.
Had to turn off the omni-port cloaking treslin modulator, so you could see them.[sm=49_49.gif]

Jellyson,
I like the blue box on the nice wooded floor, must have an understanding spouse. Cool control. And I do have a pair of the Quantum Cosmodyne Omni-Polarized Sunglasses, very expensive too. Mine are the contact lense type, there standard glasses made me look like a nerd.[sm=49_49.gif] Did you see post 286? How'd I do that?
Any more challenges,

Seriously, now, I haven't been able to fly outside for days because of the weather, but I have some data: The DD tail motor does draw a bit more current and some folks are wondering about shortened flight times. I mostly fly a 1320 mAh lipo, and I just timed a pack. From plug-in to soft cut-off was 16 minutes (7:57 to 8:13) or 15 to be conservative. All in Idle-up, hovering, swooping, bouncing, flying as hard as I could in the living room space, to try to load the system as much as possible.
15-16 minutes. I needed a shower and a beverage when I was finished.
Then I saw (didn't see?) Dave's cloaked BCPP, and there went my evening.

Must have taken awhile for the pitures to post on input. Hmm, Blue boxes, in the house and the garage. You must be a heli-freak, like me. I have a portable, heli-pad, with it's easy to carry hand hold. It's light and can even fit in the trunk of your car for that trip to the field, were the grass is tall. Also, you can store the dumb thing on a nail. Nice hovering.
See my heli-pad[8D]

Box is electrical tape, floor is fake wood, no spouse just a landlord, and a rug...Garage is actually my place of employment--boss in other room, wondering what the noise is...
Cool helipad, gotta make one of those for the park...
