They give you two small washers (#3 and #4) I only used #4 and the pitch was fine...I think (maybe that is the problem I'm having with my red light comming on too early though).
I'll have to look at that but I got a house full right now so I can't work on the heli. It does sound like my head speed is quite a bit faster though but I thought it was just the gearing. The auto hub and gear is sweet though isn't it?

Micro-Heli...I recieved the stainless spindle, auto hub and shaft from......HO-Chi-Min City, VIETNAM. Packaging labled "product of Canada" the parts are in.[:@]
Hey! crash

I got my MicroHeli main gear and shaft w/auto hub on Thursday evening. This thing is awesome I just finished installing it today. I got 1 question for you after you installed it did it throw your pitch out mine was about -5 to +7. I didn't check it at first it would barely lift off the ground(I thought my batt was done). So then I checked the pitch and it was out of wack(was fine before install).

Yeah it is. I forgot about that #4 washer(Instructions say for MicroHeli frame only but installed it anyway to line up motor pinion) I guess that probably would have thrown pitch off. Well I fixed the pitch and tracked the blades and I'll try again tomorrow.

Crashcrash,

Good pic of the DD setup... Finally, something that's working for you...and so far happy with it.

I got mine set up about an hour ago, works fine, but the motor still gets really hot, like Ouch hot.. That's with the heat sink on to.
Does yours get hot, I mean like can't hardly touch it after 5 minutes of flight.
Crashcrash and Oracus,

What web site did you guys get your MicroHeli main gear and shaft w/auto hub at?

Are you satisfied with it?

Is it easy to install, and any mods to the shaft?

Here's a few pic of the dd setup, don't mind the masking tape on the leads to the motor, it was during testing.

www.microheli.com

Listed under the Blade CP stuff. VERY EASY to install...no mods needed. This thing is the cats meow! The hub and shaft are sold seperately and you have to buy both (Or maybe it's a kit?).

The jury is still out on the DD for me, I've got problems but I've got to experiment. Motor gets quite warm....got a loss of power (I think). I had the main motor too tightly meshed with the gear and flew it 3 times like that and I might have damaged my main motor doing that. I've got it loosened up to where its right now but the damage may already be done to the main. So I can't directly blame it on the DD yet. The DD does put a higher current draw on the battery and the battery gets warmer than with the N30 motor. I'll post my findings.

I got mine from HeliHobby 7 items down the page [link]http://helihobby.com/html/micro_blade_helicopter.html[/link] I ordered the $21.99 version. No "mods" but you pretty much have to use the #4 spacer/washer btween the gear and frame or the motor pinion wont lineup right. And then "CHECK AND READJUST PITCH". The DD is look nice guys mine did not arrive today so maybe monday or so.

Crashcrash,

Thanks for the quick response.. I've heard a lot of good about the MicroHeli main gear and shaft w/auto hub, gear is perfectly round and the main shaft much hard metal, don't what it's made of..

Had four, 5 minutes flights with the DD, works good, but not sure about the motor lasting very long as hot as it gets.

Oracus,

Thanks too, for your quick response.. I think Crashcrash beat you by 30 seconds or so.(Yuk-yuk)

I'll be ordering one later tonight or tomorrow at latest, heard they are the nuts.. Gears perfectly round and shaft much stronger than stock main gear.

Again, Thanks,

Choppersrule Here:

I haven't posted a Tip of the Day for awhile, so here's one.

TIP OF THE DAY:

Magnatize your screwdrivers, it makes it real easy to get those tiny little screws to go in properly, without all the hassle of dropping them all the time.

Pic #1, The four small discs you see under the screwdriver are industrial magnets,, you can use any magnet.. Just stroke the end of the screwdriver, about 20 times across the magnet.. Go in the same direction each time, not back and forth..

Xcuse my speling, I tok a cors in fonics (I tok tha sam clas as Arrow)Yuk-yuk ArrowNaugtic(I'm always watching)

The Main Gear / Shaft is the best bucks I've spent so far. The E Flights were bending at the slightest smack of the blades this thing is tough. E Flight will miss my 6 bucks a week. I tossed the 2 new motors for the DD in a box and went back to the stock set up. My Pro is flying nice. Monday maybe I'll fool around with the DD again.

Rcmiket,

Thanks for the information, I kinda thought it was a good way to go. Read a lot about it.. Gear is much better and shaft a lot tuffer..
I remember the pictures, from an earlier post you made , but, at the time I wasn't interested/ready to get the new gear.. Now I am..

Auto-Rotation: Great to have, however, I'm not at the skill level for it to benifical. It only works with a lot of speed in Forward Flight. But it's there if you need it.

I see you have the Super Skids too, another good investment, they are tuff and look pretty good too.

DD tail system: I'm tinkering with that too, I've already gone thru 3 motors, I got 2 more and they just seem to run really hot..
I'm leaning towards a dual motor setup, just another experiment.. If those two( dd and dual ) don't pan out... Back to stock and have some fun..

Thanks again for the input,

Dave / Choppersrule

Yes...the auto hub and shaft are the best $$$ you could spend. Like you...I've shelved the DD and went back to stock. I'll be ording a few N30's here soon. Tower still owes me a good CN12, but I'll just sit on that for a while. Stick with what works.

Oracus,

Hmmm, INDY 500 time, that's like 16 miles from my house, love the Indy...

Quickly, I don't have that knowlegde base on photoshop, not sure who has it on this site.. I highly recommed to start a new Post, stating what you need and why.. Something like,, "Need Help on a Indy 500 Canopy". Mention the type of heli you have and a basic design you may want. Let your mind wonder on this one, it's got to be Cool.

Sincerely,

Dave / Choppersrule

Yeah that would be the best route too I think. I will put my imagination to the test but I am going for a Tony Kanaan theme.

Still looking for a rotor head bolt that is the shear pin for this CNC head........... I am going to try helidirect next and see where I am supposed to find parts for the head that they sell. Anyone know who sells HDX300 parts?

Arrow...call them (helidirect) and talk to an idiot...errrr... I mean representitive, and see what you can find out. If you get the run-a-round, take it to a local hardware dealer and gauge it out...we know it's METRIC. To shear...it has to be very soft (grade 2-3?). You can get a generic replacement fairly easy...it's a bolt...that's all it is. You need thread pitch in metric and length, plus type of head (socket head allen/pan head/phillips?).

Check the Yellow Pages for places that deal in just bolts nuts screws etc. Here in El Paso we have 2 such places. Everytime I'm in a bind looking for some weird size or length they have it. If I don't know the size I just take the motor or whatever down there and they size it for me. Makes for some unusual conversation about our hobby. Good Luck.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, mine was spent spraying cabinets for a friend so didn't get to work on the blade at all. Will try to get a little time in on it tonite. Also have to check out choppers magnetic screwdriver trick. I am a little confused tho......... Should I have the tip of the screwdriver pointing Magnetic North? Or True north??
Barrrick, nice lil addition, We have 2 in our house also, A lil blue and a red one.........they play nicely together although I did put the lil blue in the fishtank last week! Was able to open it up and ran a hair dryer on it and it still seems to work ok.........

ArrowNaughtic,

Wow is right, no post for a long time in this heli-world.. It's that time of year where everyone has a lot of outdoor work and STUFF to do.

Magnetic Screwdriver Trick: It's best to have the magnet pointing East, then run the tip of the blade from North to Northwest.(Yuk-yuk).

Choppersrule Here:

Like most, I spent about 7 hours today, running errands and yard dutys, I'll skip the details.

MY LATEST MODIFICATION:

It's on my test machine, the CP. With lipo batteries. I installed a 10 tooth motor. It's against all logic and recommendations, but what the heck, it's my heli and my $$$.. (Sound familiar?)

I do use two heat sinks on the main motor, always have. No goop(heat sink compond) on them either. Just make sure they are a tight fit. Squeeze them in, before installation. Oh, use the 7.5 amp fuse protection, just in case.

RESULTS:

Bottom line, awesome head speed. Motor didn't overheat, still cool. Best hovering and slow FF I've had in awhile..
I was using flat bottom woodies.

Try it out, it's only 10 bucks for the motor.

Dave / Choppersrule

RECQUIESCAT IN PACE - - - R.I.P.

The very short life of a baby HELI in the dangerous BARR household.

I (the guilty party) was aware of the interest the flying heli created in my dog BEAU and my cat JACQUES.

I was not prepared for the JUMPING ATTACK the cat did on the flight, knocking it clear out of the air onto the ground
and much less the CockerSpaniel's attack on the fallen bird ( Cockers are bird hunters ! ) In less that half a second
the HELI lay on the ground in the pieces you see in the pic.

ps I drove 30 miles to the Mall , purchased a new HELI and got THREE MORE as gifts from the booth seller.... ( I helped
him make 4 sales while I was there, translating for foreign tourists )....pic 2

the ADVENTURES of an OlePhartt with nothing better to do......

RICK

ANY INTEREST IN BUYING SOME MICRO-SIZE HELICOPTERINIS THAT FLY GREAT ?
