Wick246,

I know exactly what you mean on the spending part, Let us know how the blades and bearing work out.

Dave / Choppersrule

ORIGINAL: wick246

Thanks Chopper! I need to slow down the spending until the next check but I will give those blades a shot just to see if they work. There are also 2*6*3 bearings on clearance for a dollar under the E sky 5005 menu on the left. Different part number but correct size. Worth a dollar for me to order some and see if they are the same.

There are a lot of Esky parts that ARE interchangable. Tail boom, motors, tail motor housing...prices are a LOT lower than Eflite stuff. I recommend using Esky where possible. A little competition will force Eflite to lower their prices and in the intrum...you save a lot of $$$. I did exactly what you said, I ordered 3 tail booms at $1.xx ea not knowing if they would work. Got them in...A direct match and I saved about $2.50 on each one.

Well, I am getting nowhere fast on this Futaba radio........ Have posted ?'s in 3 different forums and zero responses. Am beginning to wonder if the computer radio thing is a closely guarded secret and known only to those who have passed the trial of fire and blood. Tried to email Futaba directly, got an automated response that I sent them a blank email. Might go back to stock and just bag this whole affair for awhile. Catch up with you guys later....after a couple beers and some nap time...heh

Arrow,

It certainly is a frustrating hobby, one way or the other. You're having difficulties getting help with your new radio. I don't have the Futaba so I can't help ya on that one.

You may have read about my major crash yesterday, I was so mad at myself last night I couldn't hardly see straight. I MUCH BETTER today, thanks to CRASHCRASH and his words of wisdom. I'm rebuilding it,, AGAIN, second time in about 2 weeks.. Luckily there were no electrical things damaged. So the repair is not that much in $$$, just time and a few bucks.

Arrow: I can under stand the Few Beers, But, what's up with the NAP stuff, tuff it out. (Jes-Kidding you know that)

CRASHCRASH:
Again, thanks for the Boost... I do remember your history of problems, with all the interference problems you had. Trying several 4n1 and 3n1's, different servos, even the dyman receiver. I'm glad that the DX6 got you flying again, now you can concentrate on that aspect of the hobby..

Thanks to all you Weeeeeeeee guys on the thread, everyone has good inputs and good questions, we are all here to help each other,

Dave / Choppersrule

Even with the book in front of you...might as well be in chinese if you haven't delt with it before. I'm just now understanding the total complexities of the DX6. Futaba...I guess they could tell you...but then they'd have to KILL you....It's super TOP SECERET. Take your time...go through the menus without changing stuff on the radio with the book in hand and see whats what. The technology will not be all that different than the DX6/7 so we might be able to at least make suggestions. Don't expect a five minuet setup...aint gonna happen. Took Luckyj forever, took me at least a week to get it so I could even fly with it. Hang in there.

Remember reading about my flights yesterday? Took out the tail skid and one side landing skid. Got it back together and it just didn't seem like it was flying right and that I lost a lot of stability. Today, I threw on a new main motor. Man!!!! what a difference! I still got two new tail motors and a main motor comming from BPH. Then again, if you hover like I do...you'll go through them. I'd guess I hover 2 to 3 hours per day (what else am I going to do with a broken hand?). I did get that 1916 Mauser finished up. What a thing of beauty it turned out to be. It kicked my hiney though. Never had one take a week to restore. Back to the heli thing... Never broke a landing skid on a CP or a CP-Pro before (stock skids). That was a suprise. So now...thinking about superskids. Dave, post a link where you got yours.

1916 mauser??? Hmmm can't picture it must have pics!

Hang in there Arrow - maybe trying too hard to be ready to fly next week. You'll do fine, just keep to what you know until your group fly is finished. Beer, sleep and time away are all good for resetting the frustration level. I've got a new bottle of Crown Royal a friend brought me and I sure could have used it this week (job stuff), unfortunately I'm also on call for work until Monday so no alcohol. []

Ya guys........just got most of the servos set up right, my ELE is still backwards and can't seem to get it to go right. Tried reversing every channel but still no luck. Got the pitch and AIR set, just need to find the right combo for ELE. Throttle was backwards but got that sorted out. Might be able to actually hook up the motors this week, And maybe blades on by Wednesday.
Thanks guys for your words of support, I do realize its not a 5 min process. Good call on the multiple model memory setups too , that should help iron out some of the bugs. No beer yet, but its calling me................. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee....................... Beer!

Am thinbking about sending in a tech request to Eflite too............. They might have some basic settings for the Radio also.

Arrow...make sure you don't have the same problem as Lookyj had, the pitch and aileron servo's had to be swapped at the reciever. That'll drive you bonkers trying to figure that one out.

yeah, it's officially a shop!

As I've said before, half of the fun of this hobby is building the helis and getting them set up..... and MOST of the Frustration. I've been buying parts birds online for the past couple weeks and bringing them back from the dead. I've sold two of the CX's to some buddies of mine.

Most of the helis in the pic don't have the 3in1's... I only have 4 flying helis, and plenty of spare parts.

I've found a way to take some of the cost of this hobby. However, less cost = more time.....

arrow,

about the reversing of the servos. My biggest problem was I was following the manual in regards to the back servos... which is reversed when dealing with the programmable controllers, well at least the spektrum DX6/7

not sure about futaba....

barrick,

you got a couple of nice looking birds there!

Crashcrash,

With all the hovering you do, and motors you go through, you may consider upgrading to the Brushless, they last like forever. I've had mine for several months an it keeps on ticking.. And the power difference is awesome.

1916 Mauser, can't picture that either, but I know it's alot of work, I use to redo the British Springfields .303's. Lots of fun and rewardiing. Got any pic's?

Oracus has his eyes open on the Super Skids, check it out.. To order from Gary, the site is "super-skids.com", It's $30, shipping included.

Wick246,
Crown Royal, hmmmm, good stuff, I understand being on call. Did that for 19 years.

Lookyj,

Nice fleet, Most I ever had was 7.. Hey, most of them are yellow. I know you're addicted.

anyone use the Century Gear and Main Shaft with the Blade CP?

CNE219 - Main Shaft, Pin and Collar
CNE218 - HB ELITE

my LHS was out of the micro Heli AR shafts... and the Century AR shaft and gear found on bladecprepair.com... so I bought these to fix up one of my helis...

Once assembed, the pinion on the motor and gear aren't lining up right. It seems there's a more of a collar where the shaft attaches to the gear, keeping the assembly from sliding all the way up...

anyone have any ideas?

Have a look at the measurement on this page lookyj. He compares the stock shaft to the Century one and they should measure the same. Note that the holes drilled in the new shaft are different distances from the ends.

Lookyj,

Hmmm, brain is in gear, thinking........

If I understand you correctly, you can't get the main shaft to get through the bottom bearing of the frame...Get the dremel out and grind some stuff off, only problem with that is you'll never get it perfectly round, then you'll have a tad of slop at the bearing.
Option 2, hmmm, a bearing for the Century, if it would fit in the main frame.

dave,

a picture is worth a thousand words....

see below.

In the first pic you will see there's an extra plastic lip on where the shaft connects to the plastic gear. this is the difference between the pinion and the gear lining up once installed... see second pic.

I thought about using the dremel to shave the extra plastic off... but as you said this will be impossible to get perfect and can introduce some slop...

is there enough contact? see second pic...

am I just trying to get this too perfect?

also I just realized the motor with the best fit (longest shaft) is a 10 tooth pinion.... hmmmm, I wanted to go with the bell-hiller mxing, and LiPo's on this heli....

anyone use bell hiller with 10 tooth and NiMh packs? I guess this would be the downsized CP Pro... seeings how I'm using the 3in1 from the CP Pro.

going to check if any of my 9 tooths match up with the gear.....

LOOKYJ

a QUESTION for you !

I am installing the RX 6100 in a little CESSNA...... It has an outrunner motor , connected to the ESC which in turn has a connector that goes directly to the RECEIVER .

The ESc is a BATTERY as well as a THROTTLE CONTROLLER

the 6100 offers two adjacent PINS : " BATT" and "THRO"

in my case, where do I connect the ESC ????

and in these cases, there is NO SWITCH ? just connecting the battery starts up the whole system ?

RICK ( always bothering y'all )
