This THREAD that ARROWNAUGHTIC inaugurated has been a real COMPANION for me and I want to post how much ENJOYMENT it has given me. It is SAD to see how transitory everything is in this world. Everybody has moved on to BIGGER and BETTER THINGS..... (as my first wife said in Divorce Court)..... I guess it's time to move on, myself. It bugs me that I never really did catch up with everybody. Still, I will not give up the EFlite Blades yet, just because I have never given them a REAL CHANCE. Paraphrasing here : DE BLADE HASS BIN BERRY BERRY GUD TO ME ! he! Thanks CHOPPERSRULE, AND CRASH-CRASH, WNUK, LOOKYJ, AND ALL THE OTHER BROTHERS. I hope y'all get to really FLY a radio Heli. I am now going to the workshop to make the PRO work. Sad., BUT IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS THREAD HAS UP AND DIED.......sniff sniff........RICK

I hope you don't mind me jumping in, but I must say your posts have keep me entertained during the dreaded battery charge time. Thanks for helping to pass the time. As I am sure you both well know, that hour and half between charges can seem like eternity.

Hi men.............. been a couple days since I posted in here. Been working a little more lately so haven't had much time to play with the heli's. I did get the rebuilt blade back together and went out in my pajama's this morning. Was hovering ok and i set it down pretty hard and rebroke the frame............ I got another one from lookyj and will do the swap later this afternoon. Have to go put some money in the bank and pay a few bills but should be back up to snuff tonite.
Barrrick............ we are all with you in spirit my friend, looks like your build is going good. I am looking to reinstall the DD tail on the blinged out blade ( I used the free frame crash sent me to build a second one) so I hope the DD tail with the stock mount does ok. Thank goodness lookyj sent me that frame also........ Or I would be heading to the LHS today also.
crash........... tried to fly the cub again this week..........no luck...broke the gearbox this time so will have to get some spare parts for that before its race ready again. I haven't even taken off the cowling, it needs a rest from me.......heh
Been keeping up with the forum and reading daily but haven't been posting as much about the blade. I want to have 2 decent flying helis and then will post a pic of the fleet!

Noguy and Mrasmm,
I've got 4 batteries for the Blades, 2 / 1200mAh , 1 / 1000mAh and an 800 mAh. Guess what, the 800 mAh battery, makes the little heli moves so much quickly and responsive. Just from the weight factor. I don't know how long the 800 mAh would last, I rarely fly one session over 8 minutes max. After 8 mintues though it's still going pretty strong.

Yea mrasmm, I really believe that this heli is really designed around remaining as light as possible.
Guys that are really ripping it up with this heli are flying even small and lighter packs than the stock pack.
Well tuned and properly setup this heli is very capable.

yeah choppers, I think it's crazy. The 800 pack I have is 66.5g and the 1250mAh pack is 102g, so that's like 35.5g difference if I figured correctly, and that is only about 10 or 12% weight increase to cause that kind of repsonse. I think the bigger pack would be alot better for scale mode flying though.

Well fellas, concerning the no arming on the HBK 2. It turned out to be pilot/newbie major error. I had that silly, throttle trim lever up.
Needless to say, but I'll say it anyways, now it's working fine. Up to flight 9 now. (keeping better track) After adjusting the belt tension on this little critter several times and adjusting the HH gyro, it's about as stable as a T-rex. It is a little nose heavy, working on that issue. The motor does get got, when it burns up, I'll get another brushed motor. If I decide to keep going with the HBK 2, I'll go brushless with it. I want to put at least 30 flights or so before my final decision. So far, I give it a [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif] out of 5.
No crashes YET![8D]

Things are going good with the CP and the Trex, no problems at all... The Honey Bee King2, had 5 great flighs with it, very impressive, for the cost. Now I'm having a problem with it arming, the Gyro light keeps blinking and the tail servo doesn't move. Hmm, either a bad gyro or a bad servo.. Not a big deal, I'll get 'er fixed.
If anyone has questions on the Trex or Honey Bee King2, just PM me.. Just running out of heli time.

Mrasmm,
My post was just an FYI thingie, that the weight on the CP is obviously critical in it's performance. Also, I agree 110% that a bigger pack is much better for scale mode, making it much more stable. Oh, 10 to 12 percent on a heli that weighs in at just over 10 ounces is alot, IMHO. They are designed on the edge.
With my abilities, and lack of reflexes, I should probably add more weight!

Well, I got the nose heavy problem resolve on the HBK 2. Sometimes, I feel like a total idiot and forgot to wake up or something.
Remember back when, I mentioned that on a new heli, I always put the training gear on for the first few flight to get the hang of it.
Well, STUPID ME, had the traing gear a tad to far back, duh, tail heavy.. Took those Ba$tards off and now it's as sweet as apple pie.
It's the simply things that can get ya, everytime. That's two (silly mistakes) , on one bird in less than 2 weeks. At least I didn't crash, that's the good thing.

Lookyj,
Two things, first and most important is the following that you posted, and very true. Alot of knowledge here and the comradrey is great, we talk about our daily experiences with the heli, good or bad. Help each other out in the blink of an eye. As you said, Hang out with Friends!.. We can always cry on each others shoulders or whine abit in bad times and everyone understands. We all have that bond, and that's GREAT.
Item two: You got me interested when you said your first post was in February. Hmmmm, I knew I was close in that area. So, being a data freak, I checked it out. You're first post was number 109 on February 3... My first post was number 116 on February 3.
Do-do-do-do, Do-do-do-do, sci-fi.
Your Post:
Rick Ol' Buddy, this thread will NEVER DIE!!!
there is such a collection of information, advice, and comradery on this thread that is has taken a life of it's own.
thank you ALL for making what this thread is, has become, and will always be....

Crash,
Sorry to hear about the busted up hand and going into surgery, hang tight. Yep, when it rains it pours. Let us know how the surgery comes out, best to get it corrected rather than deal with all the pain. Wow, you waited 2 years to get it corrected.. Hmmm, I'm the same way, hate going to the doctors office for anything.
I'm like you, I have a nice big area in the basement too, 13 x 35, and a 7 foot drop ceiling. I have it fixed up with real nice paneling, except for a few deep scratches from blade strikes, it looks great.

Setting the proportional and gain are tricky, a little here and a little there. It takes some tweaking and many trial and error hovers to get it where you want it. Before you start the process, plug in a fresh battery pack, spool up and let it spin in normal mode to where it's getting light and let it run for about 2 minutes, then adjust the proportional and gain. Give'r a try.

Cripes, 11 years old! I've got gear older than that and I'm only into forward flight. Of course it didn't help that I took a 15 year break in the middle!
Anyways, got my Blade CP Pro in the air yesterday for the first time in a week. I had a crash last Sunday and since then it has been WAY too windy or raining. After the crash there was a wobble, and the main shaft needed replacing, and now once again it is nice and smooth. I took it to a larger park where I had some room to move around more instead of my cramped back yard. I'm really loving this little heli so far.
Also got the Corona in the air for the first time in a few years. I used to really like it, but everything felt so sluggish. (I think maybe the fixed pitch response vs. the collective of the BCPP) I was having some difficulty staying ahead of the throttle changes. Also the tail was giving me some issues, so I went back to the BCPP. That made me appreciate the BCPP even more, so now I'm getting rid of the Corona to make room for something new.

lookyj,
Thank You,
I've been waiting for him to post that info for about two months. It was originally referred to in RC HELI magazine. I even called Horizon about it! lol Their response was, "Well he's a busy man".
Did you just find it?
Edit: Upon further looking, I see that it was just posted on 6/19/07. I think he really did everyone a disservice by even posting those setting. In the magazine article you will find that he has a lot of modifications that would change those settings compared to another heli. He has changed the blade grips to leading edge input. He is using the 3n1 in combination with the G90 gyro. He has shortened the tail boom.
IMHO, settings thrown out like this, out of context, are good for (possibly) a point of comparison only. The best way I've found is to use a guide such as Finless' video for the TRex:
http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.p...8466bcd6040067
so that one understands how the settings are actually affecting the helicopter.
Again, just MHO.

Barrrick,
Sorry to double post here, but I was wondering if you have Adobe Acrobatic Reader installed? On that page, there is a link where you can download it. Also, have you seen Jermo's video on the DX7?
http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.p...8466bcd6040067
Go down to the video link. It's "OK", but could be more thorough, IMHO.

barrick,
orl's right if you go to the original website the files are in pdf format (you need adobe acrobat) I posted some jpeg files but are kind of difficult to read because of the size limitation.
he's also got another point about the mod's. which there is no mention of in that article.
I too watched jermo's vids, but found to be a great starting point to learn the basic programming of the DX7 but not real informative on the actual settings.
here's the settings I've been using for sometime now with great success...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=5612660
Blade CP Pro with AR6100, and DX7
Step 1)
Connect the servo wires to receiver AR6100 as follows:
AUX1 - Right Rear Servo*
GEAR - <empty>
RUDD - Rudder
ELEV - Front Servo*
AILE - Left Rear Servo*
THRO - Throttle
*Left and Right Rear servos are based on the orientation of the helicopter placed in front of you with the nose pointing forward (away from you), and the tail facing back (towards you).
Step 2)
Create model in DX7:
While powering up DX7 hold down Scroll and Select buttons to enter “Model Select Modeâ€
Set initial settings for model in DX7…
[SWASH TYPE]
3 SERVOS, 120*
[INPUT SELECT]
AUX2 = INH
GEAR = INH
[THRO RECOVERY]
INH
[TRAINER]
INH
[TYPE SELECT]
HELI
[MODEL NAME]
enter a name for your model like BCP Pro
power down DX7.
Step 3)
Bind AR6100 to DX7
Plug bind plug into BATT connection on AR6100
Power up DX7 make sure correct model is selected, power back down DX7.
Remove motor connections from BCPP 3in1
Power up RX by plugging battery into JST connector
AR6100 should have a fast blinking amber light
Now power up DX7 while holding bind button on back of transmitter.
The AR6100 should go through it’s bind process,
Everything is ready when AR6100 is solid amber light and 3in1 is solid green light.
Powerdown AR6100 by unplugging battery
Turn off DX7.
Step 4)
REMOVE BIND PLUG FROM BATT CONNECTION ON AR6100!!!
Step 5)
Program DX7
Turn on the DX7 and enter programming mode for the current model by pressing SCROLL and SELECT buttons

Step 6)
Power up Heli and check for correct control of the servos,
see pages 16-18 in the manual.
“Position the helicopter to view it from the left or right side. Move the left-hand stick up and down to check the collective pitch control. When the stick is pushed up, the swashplate should lower, increasing the pitch of the main blades.
With the stick pulled back down, the swashplate should raise, decreasing the pitch of the main blades.
Again viewing the helicopter from the left or right side, move the right-hand stick forward and aft to check elevator pitch control. When the stick is pushed forward, the swashplate should also tilt forward. With the stick pulled back, the swashplate will tilt toward the rear.
While viewing the helicopter from the rear (tail boom toward you), move the right-hand stick left and right to check aileron roll control. When the stick is pushed to the left, the swashplate should also tilt left. With the stick pushed right, the swashplate will tilt to the right.â€
Step 7)
Plug in main and rotor motors, power back up and FLY!
orl's right if you go to the original website the files are in pdf format (you need adobe acrobat) I posted some jpeg files but are kind of difficult to read because of the size limitation.
he's also got another point about the mod's. which there is no mention of in that article.
I too watched jermo's vids, but found to be a great starting point to learn the basic programming of the DX7 but not real informative on the actual settings.
here's the settings I've been using for sometime now with great success...

Blade CP Pro with AR6100, and DX7
Step 1)
Connect the servo wires to receiver AR6100 as follows:
AUX1 - Right Rear Servo*
GEAR - <empty>
RUDD - Rudder
ELEV - Front Servo*
AILE - Left Rear Servo*
THRO - Throttle
*Left and Right Rear servos are based on the orientation of the helicopter placed in front of you with the nose pointing forward (away from you), and the tail facing back (towards you).
Step 2)
Create model in DX7:
While powering up DX7 hold down Scroll and Select buttons to enter “Model Select Modeâ€

A GENERAL NOTICE FROM RICK THE OLD ONE :
I am going OFFLINE (today SUNDAY June 24th at 11:30am) to have my PC Upgraded (double memory - triple speed - FIREWIRE ! and Video complete setup ( YEAH! ) [will be able to POST my flights !] thankxxx LOOKYJ ...
.... probably will be OUT for about a week.
NEWS : I am STILL not able to figure out how to do the PITCH corrections. I look at the Heli and cannot follow all the VERY CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS y'all have provided. I must be SENILE ALREADY, and not knowing it.....sheesh So the PRO and the Blade just sit on the bench.......can't figure out how to fix them.....will eventually resort to the LHS for help.
I am also INSTALLING de FS-1 complete with the wireless control.
A HONEYBEE KING II - is on the way........$146 is NOTHING, for what I get........hopefully I have FOLLOWED my Bros. and some good will come from that.
I was SO READY to move out in FF and spin, return with nose in hover, etc etc Still got the CX-2 and that's my faithful toy - STILL ORIGINAL from the box !
When I come back I WILL DO THE DX-7 INSTALLATION IN THE BLADE......the set-up post is a KEEPER.
I have re-joined my old ModelAirplane Club. I quit when my wife died. Went back for a visit , found out they have a new dedicated HELI area ! and it's only 7 miles from this house. A Place to FLY !
HOPE TO BE BACK SOON - Y'all are my great and ONLY friends - thanks RICK

Good luck Rick. Hope to see you back soon.
Here's a pic of my blade and Corona side by side. I never realised how small the blade was until I put them next to each other for the pic. I think I have my wife almost sold on the idea of a T-Rex, so the Corona is going to have to go soon.

ArrowNaughtic,
I understand the working extra, me too. Never been out flying in my pajama's, but I'm sure it's comfortable.

Sorry about your bad luck with the main frames, I went thru the same thing months ago. Broke 3 in about 2 weeks or so.
Things have just Clicked for me, been doing this stuff for 18 months or so and broke every part you can name. After the Click, I have about 100 flights, on my two blades, HBK 2 and Trex, since May 6th. I remember that cuz I was on vacation then. Only 1 dinged blade in 100 flights. Wow, that's history for me.
Take it slow and good luck on the rebuilds and the Cub,
Dave / Choppersrule

Rick.......... we all love ya and hope the upgrade goes smoothly.
Just got done rebuilding the BCP, This time the tail looks like it will hold. I set it down yesterday a little rough and snapped the boom and part of the frame. I am saving the new one Looky sent me just in case this last ditch fix doesn't work. As soon as the liquid sunshine lets up I am heading outside for a fast test hovor. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..............Blade CP!!!

Pongo,
Same question as Crashcrash, is the Corona a Fix Pitch Heli. The blades look like it in the picture, hard to tell for sure. It looks like a sweet bird.
Excellent job on the canopy and tail boom on the Blade, looks outstanding.
Just give the wife a tad bit more attention and the Trex is yours.

Take care and good luck,
Dave / Choppersrule

[8D]And remember to give your wife more attention than your T-Rex when you get it. I'm making that mistake right now

I'm still setting mine up and haven't messed with the Blade, I still have to switch the 9t for the 8t. Finless Bob(Helifreak)is a incredible person for info on setting up heli's. There's no way I could do it without watching his tech videos!
God Bless All!

Radioflyer / Jay,
Ya got me ROTF with that one, Give the wife more attention than the T-Rex.
I think it was ArrowNaugtic, could be wrong.
I'm Choppersrule, in my humble world, I'm Mr. Choppers and the wife is Ms. Rule, hence Choppersrule. Oh, gosh, help us all.

May 2nd of this year, myself and Ms. Rule has been married for 32, yes, not a typo error, 32 years. LOVE that woman to death.
Yes, Finless is a marvel, I've watch Many of his videos and he has help me considerably in the workings of the heli.. I'd recommend that everyone watch them, just for a learning experience.
I think, I've learned to fly, after 18 months or so, I have about 100 flights in the last 6 weeks and only dinged one blade.
As I always say, take your time on your new T-Rex, what a heli. You WILL love it.
Bless Ya Jay,
Dave / Choppersrule

Heh....get this fellas............ after getting the Blade all together and testing hovoring.......I now have the glitches! Never had them on the other blade......ever. I am using the RX from that one and the Crystal is from the stock TX and installed in my Futaba 6EXH. I did notice in the house when setting up the servos again and checking pitch that the servos were jumping a little. I was moving the TX around some and think maybe I have a loose connection on the antennae in the TX. Would that cause glitches?
