Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Here is yesterday evenings crash with the Logo 10. This is what happens when your not 3 mistakes high... (LMAO)... I need new wood blades, main-gear, tail rotor blades, tail pitch slider, skids, and all 3 of the cyclic servos gears got stripped. No biggie, I'll order some new ones as they are cheap since there only the Hitec HS-21's and are only a $20.00 servo. They do so well though, that I'am going to just continue to use them.
Dave outfitted the Logo with them, and he chose well...
The flybar is still straight as an arrow ! I've been using one from the Trex 500, with the Trex 500 paddles that came with the CF version. (plastic) The Logo's plastic parts are very tough ! Its amazing the Logo doesn't even use the tailboom braces/supports like most heli's. You can get some for an upgrade now however... But yeah, it didn't even phase the boom. Lol....
I had to give You-Tube a little love :

Ouch! That one made a bad noise when it hit too. Beautiful flying site. That Logo sounds like the real thing at times. Very cool heli.
It seems as though Exposer room doesn't like me any more. I uploaded three videos of me flying in a real J-3 Piper Cub and 24hrs later they still hadn't converted so I deleted them and tried just one video. It's been quite a few days now and they won't convert it. I wonder it I hit my "Free" limit

Yeah, holy crap, it sounded like Terminator and Transformers sounds combined on the crash.
However, I do think if the helicopter gurus of this forum ever get a band together, it should be called '3 mistakes high'.
Good luck on the fixing, Jeff, looked great in flight though!

Jeff-Michael,
So sorry about the Logo 10 crash, but you know that does happen in this hobby, like it or not.
From the speed of impact, your damage is really minor. I watched the Loop many times, starts at 3:29 on the clock. Not being funny here, just analyzing.. It looked more like a figure "9". The loop started okay. From the 9 o'clock position to the 2 o'clock position, then it seemed like it went pretty straight, with less up elevator. I don't know if you've made any changes to the head or servo horns.
But the stock horns are to short and the way I assembled the head was for sports flying, not 3d. Make those changes and get longer horns and I think you'll be a happy camper with it.
Doing both will give the swashplate a kick in the butt, for response. LMAO !

Dave ~
I saw that "9" also come outta that loop !
Nothing has changed on the set-up since you went over her and in fact the Logo does pretty well doing the loops, but this time at a different field it didn't work out !
Not enough height, and speed for just using the 5-cell lipo instead of normally the 6-cells I've been running through her. It came to me pulling into the loop that I was in trouble as I sensed the 5-cell lugging to keep up. That could be why I faulted in trying to save the ship by simply adding some negative pitch like I've down before to tighten the loop up, but what the hek happened I dunno ! LMAO.... Crashes don't even phase me anymore, so like ya said it comes with the territory.
The thing is really tough though Dave ! I've seen some other Logo's go for around $200.00 used for the Logo 10 with everything already to fly... You may need to save and scout for one in time mister ! It would blow you away how fun and stable the ship is.
Here is my last video with the Logo doing the loops the right way below. You'll see it does good for such small servo arms, and tame settings.

Next victim on the plate : Trex 500..... Now if the rugrats and soccer mom's would get off my fields, I could go fly it....!!!! [&:]

I mean, colors are running, there are stains, looks like some burn marks... Sheesh.

Lol.... I still need to install that red LED light you saw a page or so back for the Funtana... That same red LED was used before on my Vapor, and is a bright little trinkit ! Maybe tonight....

Excellent!!!
Now I think we need to design not a helicopter or plane with LEDs... but an LED that flies.
Am I a helicopter that dreams it has LEDs...
or am I an LED that dreams it's a helicopter?

Man, Eric is getting all philosophical and stuff[X(] I think I'm a Dim light bulb that wants to be a plane
Jeff,
Go fly the dust off of that sucker!
I've flown 5 days in a row now and tomorrow may make 6. I even got the T-rex out for a flight... only one terrible looking back flip though. We've had excellent weather this week.
I wanted to share with the BOB's a great experience I had last Monday. My neighbor took me up in his J-3 Piper Cub and we flew from Kalamazoo to Benton Harbor. He even let me take the controls for 25 minutes. What a blast! I've never been in a Cub before and it was amazing.
Here are 2 videos of the flight~

No way Jay that's cool you got to go up in the Cub ! Did you zip over to Vic's place really quick ?!
I just got back from flying the Trex 500, just to make sure I still can fly and all is good... Whew.... The Logo caught me by surprise yesterday !
Doesn't matter, all so fun crashing or not !
I'll buffer your vids.... [8D]

Jeff,
We flew the wrong way to head over Vic
Those are some great screen shots from the Webbie. I still need to get another... most likely by next spring. I'm finally headed back to work on Tuesday. I hope this time it lasts. Prayers certainly help so if you can say a quick one for me I'd appreciate it

Dude, that's is one BRIGHT LED for sure. Your videos and still shots are awesome. Funny you should mention I consider a Logo 10 / 600 size.. I e-mailed Vic about a week or so ago talking about it , and it's on my platter for sure. Watching prices on the 6 cell batteries, they'll be way down in price next year. Competition in the heli world is on fire. Prices coming down, so sit back and reap in the benefits. Gotta be patient.
I'm good at that. LMFAO![8D] Similar to a procrastinator!
G401B gyro: I finally got it dialed in great... I lke to test it with POPS and PIROS, if it does good in those aspects, you've got it on the money.. No tail wagging, hippity hops, just solid.
HEY JAY,
Sure just cruising along at the stick, that had to be a great experience. Did ya SH$T your pants, or pee a tad. LMAO !

I'm jealous of course.
I'm so glad your going back to work, a novena is in process. God Bless ya Jay.

I got that LED when I was in Cali out of a cereal box...LMAO... I think it was a Star Wars light saber or something ? Anyway, I gutted it and went for the glory, and use it now for my own toys.
You'd love a Logo. The best chopper I've ever flown period..... So stable my dog flies it sometimes...
And there much cheaper and simpler than the Trex-line... The wood blades are so awesome and VERY cheap ! $20-$25.00... And look how strong they are after that crash... There rated at 1700 rpm's, but I've used the 6s and juiced them blades past 2400 rpm's and no prob...
Some guys are just using some bigger batts from HobbyCity I believe, and there already cheap !
Yeah on my punchouts, I always sway the stick to the side instead of straight up, and my tail will kick because of it sometimes... Drives me mad when I see that. I went from 13% Expo today on the Trex 500 to 20% Expo to see if that helped, but no... Maybe I'll try a bit more...Heh...
I just got back from another flight at the field with the Trex 500. So fun ! My hands are still sweating ! [8D] I found out that orange sunset's, and orange canopies = BAD... (LMAO)... Lost total visual a few times doing loops. All I heard was a bunch of commotion, and the bird came out of it somehow. I'll have to check the video to see what the hek it was doing up there.
Take care Chief....

Dave and Jeff,
You guys are great[8D] I appreciate your prayers
I had no say on the landing, Larry did a great job! It was bumpy has heck that day but I felt at home. It's amazing how hard it is to keep the wings level and the ball centered. I had to keep on top of the rudder all of the time. It sure was beautiful seeing Lake Michigan from the air though. What a great experience
God Bless!

Need advice guys. Would you say that a 500 is tougher than a 450? I had the dumbest crash yesterday from 3ft up and I can't believe how much I broke. Tail boom, 2 servos, main gear, fly-bar, feathering shaft, main shaft, and finally bent the rotor head. I was thinking of getting rid of the 450 and jumping to a 500. I bet the parts can take more of a beating. What do you think?
Jay ~
You still know how to do that drywall stuff right ?!
Here is a few flights with the Trex 500 I squeezed in yesterday right before dark. I really need to work on keeping my stick going straight up to keep the tail locked, instead of swaying the darn thing to the side. Its bugging the crap outta me ! I bumped up my Expo to see if that helps for today.
So fun !
Flight 1 :

Dang I forgot how slow You-Tube is to download a video ! Vimeo takes nothing ! Crazy....

JAY HUSK : I have A SPECIAL reason for extending a big THANK YOU for the great film of a flight in the J-3 CUB
I have always been a devotee of that plane. We are direct contemporaries (1937) and it has always held a big
fascination for me. Most of my big trophies in RC were gathered from full scale models of the J-3. The trailer was
painted in the J-3 theme, remember that ? and the license plate was: J-3 CUBS / I have never been a fan of anything
but yes of the CUB.
The ONLY thing missing forever was an actual flight INSIDE. I came really close twice up in Dallas but narrowly missed
out by bad timing and eventually that the owner died.
SO : your film of the flights was SUPER IMPORTANT..... you understand why ?
Thanks again and again. I DO have a real Pilot License (since 1974) and I feel confident I would have been able to
pilot that Piper on that flight.....
Rick,
I'm very happy you enjoyed those videos. I am truly Blessed to have been able to go up in it and to also have been able to take the sticks. The Cub is very agile as it doesn't take much to move her around. I have more videos that I will get up on you-tube. I never realized how cramped the cockpit is. @ 5'6" I was all knees and elbows in the front
My Grandpa learned to fly for the US Army Air Corps in a Piper J-5 Cruiser. I have done that model, modified Sig 1/5th scale J-3, which is hanging in my basement. It won't fly until I can convert it to electric some day. More videos to come!
Jeff,
I'm always stunned at what you can do with your helis but again I have to say you fly in the most beautiful places. I had to call to Rhonda so she could see the clouds below the tops of the mountain on the Vimeo 2nd flight video. What beautiful scenery!
Eric,
Thank-you very much!
I pic of my grandpa and the J-5 cruiser and my recreation.
Blessings,
Jay

I wish I could tell ya something Joey, but I've only crashed my T-500 once and so comparing from me wouldn't count...
That T-500 crash did cost $160.00 though... The last Logo flight which got stuffed into the ground much worse came in at $67.00 in damage and that chopper has 7" of more rotor than the T-500. Ivan over on the Struggling Thread wrecked his T-500 and it also cost him about $150.00... Some get lucky, some don't...! Like Chopper and Vic say "It all depends on the angle of the dangle"....
[8D]They are more stable, so maybe then crashes will be less ? Dunno... I'll have that answer in time. You'd love a 500 class heli for sure though ! There much more powerful and quicker than the 450 class. My T-500 is pushing 1.97 ponies and the T-450 is only 1/2 a pony with the -6 Scorpion in her. The T-500 will lick the 450's ***** twice !

But I would say never to sell the 450, simply because its always a good trainer, and really is the perfect size heli for most flying areas. Practice with the 450 and beat her, and save the other stuff then for the 500 is what I do....
Jay ~
Great picture of Grandpa Husk.....
[8D] I've always liked those Cub's also ! I can't believe the size of that one Rick had.....!!!!!!!!!!! Holy moly there ! So awesome.....

WOW a guy takes a few days off and you go nuts writing
Jay, what a treat to take that plane ride! Must have been real fun. Gramps old photos and your matching model are the best too.
Jeff, stunning pictures and video as always. I stuffed my 500 last week. I lost two servos (stripped) boom, boom struts, main blades! (that hurt $$) Thank goodness I was only using the HDX blades Glenn turned me on to for $30.00 instead of my nice Align 65.00 blades. As you will recall and thank you again for your photos, I stepped up to the
Hitec 5245 MG's. For now I will be "careful" as I am flying pretty hard with th 500 so I will easy up a bit until some cheaper blades arrive. I am now doing everything with my 500 I can do with the 400's. Nose over flips, tail under flips, side rolls both ways, and of course the old fashon loop-de-loops. Been playing with inverted stuff too. I can hold on to it upside down pretty good. But make no mistake, I cannot fly upside down or inverted to use the correct grammer here.
Rick, great picture of you and your plane. My buddy was looking at the screen as I was scrolling down that page and he YELLS look! ! ! that plane... it's HUGE........I must add he is my newest noob! To anyone in the hobby or not, that is one KICK ***** big plane any way you cut it.
Joey, Man sorry about your crash. Now I am worried about the head and tail you just had me buy for my 400. You said it was indestructable! I am holding you as my warranty provider on the that head....... LOL
Erik, keep creating! batteries, wire and LEDs are your friend!
Chopper........................take a napper
Me: I had my Sunday fly with the guys. Flew the 500, 600, and old T-28. I joined a Fly Club (private). You join, pay your membership fee and get a key to the private field and thats it! No meetings, No Officers, No nothing but flying. I went over there today to get given the once over by the click there. Overall theyI lifted off the 600 and flew slow and easy. They chatted on and then 2 minutes into the flight I shifted over to Idle-up. Of course the 600 came alive from the slow pokie flying had been doing. My buddy said then they catted but while doing so walked out where they had full view of me and the 600. Well I guessed I passed muster as a couple of them said "nice flight". WOW I thought this stuff over when I got out of Junior High School...........LMAO
Enjoy whats left of your holiday weekend guys...Smiles JPEE

My buddy said then they catted but while doing so walked out where they had full view of me and the 600. Well I guessed I passed muster as a couple of them said "nice flight". WOW I thought this stuff over when I got out of Junior High School...........LMAO
Enjoy whats left of your holiday weekend guys...Smiles JPEE

That was another great video in the Cub ! [8D] I remember when I was very little my grandma had her pilots license and I went up a few times with her. And then my uncle had his also, and he had a little Cessna and it was a blast going up with him also. Everything sure looks different up there ! Now we know what the big guy sees looking down at us huh ?!

I've been thinking about ya lately, and hoping you've been safe from those devastating California wildfires near you....
Glad to see your doing good.... Thanks for the report ! Hey, you've crashed your 500 a few times right ? Do you think there a tougher bird than the 450 class for Joey's sake ? Your skill level flying, has passed mine by far, and I give you a big congrats ! [8D] No front flips or rolls from this pilot yet... Yikes !
