Thanks George I will pass the word to the guys and gal that you like it. We should have it all finished up and ready to ship by the end of the week.

I also just recieved an email from from AJ who recieved his Visa yesterday and flew it this afternoon. WOW

Fiirst off I want to say you guys have done a great job improving the quality of the planes Now on to the important thing. It flies really good!! I need to put a another turn of positive in mine but I think it's a keeper for sure!!! Different than my spark, but it's very nice

Andrew

We are glad you like it and I am curious as to how you like the split rudder.

Chip,

I just wanted to make sure that you know that George's address is now in Browns Summit, NC, and not in Lake Charles.[8D]

Seriously though, you are cranking out some beautiful airplanes. Great job to you and Marcelo.

Chip,

I was able to fly Chris' Visa this past weekend. (Thanks for the flight Chris). Very nice flying airplane. Presents well and really has a nice speed/groove to it. The finish is beautiful as well.

Glad you liked it. It makes us feel good when people like yourself and Ryan post because we know you guys have seen a lot of great planes over the past few years. As for my involvement with the models (building/painting) downhere I feel like its time for me to step back and let Marcelo take it from here.

Not that I don't enjoy it but I have had some other opportunities come up and there is really not much more I can offer. Of course I will still be available to answer questions about the Visa and other planes to the best of my ability but Miri and I need our own thing.

I can't wait to see everyone at the nats as well as all the planes (something like 45 ARF's and 18- 20arcs and kits in 6 months) Unfortunately I do not think Marcelo is going to make it this year even though I know he wants to in the worst way (Thats the price of owning a factory)

Well, I finally got mine in the air. It was dead straight and only took one click up and one click left aileron. Everything was very, very close to being right on. I've got a very slight pull on uplines so I may add just a smidge of downthrust. Differential was dead on and it was tracking very well. It should be contest ready pretty quickly.

I'll add to the kudos for Chip and the whole CA team. Everyone at my flying field was blown away by the design and finish quality. I'm a happy camper right now.

Well, the Visa has arrived! It actually got here Tuesday but I was working and didn't have a chance to unpack it until yesterday evening. It arrived with no shipping damage. The Fed Exp driver actually commented on the quality of the crate! I'm very happy with the result on first inspection. I replaced teh covers and put it back in the crate until after the Nats....as hard as that was. I hope that I'll be energized after the nats and get this bird in the air in late July or early august. I will let you know how it flies!

Thanks to all who helped build and finish it.

I thought I'd give an update on my progress. I finally had a great trimming session with mine and it is pretty dialed in now. There was no one at the field, I had the place to myself so I could take off, check uplines and downlines, land, adjust, try it again... It is really flying well now.

Yesterday I was getting frustrated because I was starting to chase my tail. Chip called me this morning and we went through my setup. I decided to push the reset button and rechecked/adjusted my incidence and I shut off all my mixes. I went out and flew it and it was tracking really straight up line. I cranked in just a hair more up incidence on the stabs and it was locked in. I turned on about 1% down elevator to low throttle mix and that took care of the downlines. It was a little windy this afternoon so I can't really tell how my knife edge mixing was doing, but I have zero mixing at this time.

Mine was initially nose heavy so I shoved the batts back and I turned them around so the wires are at the rear. Now my 4350s are about .5" beyond the end of the tray and the 5000's are about 1.75 beyond. My ESC is back by the batts now.

So, now I will continue practicing and getting tuned into it. But I am pretty happy with it just the way it is. I can't wait to get a calm air session so I can double check the knife edge mixing. I can't believe it takes zero mix, where it is set right now.

Here's yet another Visa pic for you. Beautiful flying day at my field.

I recently purchased a VISA while at the NATS. This VISA has the split rudder option. The airplane will be set up using a JR 12X. Does anyone have the program setup for the split rudder option for JR? Having never set up this option I'm not certain as to how it is done.

Thanks for the help!

I'd use CA between the rudder halves and put one servo on channel 4 But I'm not flying FAI

Larry,
I have done it on Passports with both a JR-9303, and the new 11X which does it better. I don't have a 12X so can't send you a file. I understand the 12X and 11X programing is very similar so it should work fine. I could explain it easily over the phone, but it would take a long time to type. If you like, PM me you phone number, a time to call, and I'll walk you through it.

I'm envious, I reall would love to have a VISA!

Steve is correct it should not be a problem. Between he and Tony F they should be able to get it straight. I am sorry guys things have been a little quiet on the Visa front but I have been extremely busy with family and preparing for the Nats. i really want to thank all of you guys that flew the CA stuff at the nats it was a real honor for me to see. Since my return to (Miriam) Argentina I have been super busy getting things set up for my new paint shop and working on making the planes even better in the future.

I need to keep this short as I am at a family function but I really need to say thank you to a few people that have made this all pòssible. First of all Miri for the inspiration I needed to work and prepare for the nats. Secondly, all the modelers both here and in the US that believed in us and have been absolutely incredible. I know there are many more people out there that have helped on the way but I need to run.

Also I would like to congradulate Andrew and Ja on there great flying and I look forward to representing the US with them at the up coming worlds

I am in the process of setting up incidence for wing and stab. According to instructions I was given the canopy floor is set to -2.25 degrees which puts the plane at level. The wing would be dialed to 2.75 positive making the wings set at a .5 positive. Stab will set at +2.25 degrees or 0 in relation to the wing. I want to verify this as I will need to reposition the adjusters down in order make this work. (By this I mean drill new mounting holes and move the whole piece down) Before I do this I would like to get some feed-back.

Thanks
Larry

Hi Larry,

The wing should be at +0.5 degrees and the stab at 0 degrees.

Are you saying that you have to reposition the stab anti rotation pin? Or are you saying that you need to reposition the wing adjusters?

You shouldn't have to move the wing adjusters. On my Visa, which was an early model, I had to lower the stab anti rotation pin a bit so that it would align properly. Not a big deal.

I am not sure about using the canopy floor for alignment. I didn't find it to be exactly square from one side to the next. So, I put my plane in a cradle and adjusted the thing so that it was sitting in a level and square attitude. I put the wings on with the fuse at the level position (for the correct flight attitude I wanted to see the fuselage at) and then adjusted the wings to be 0 degrees. I then put the stabs on and adjusted them to be at 0 degrees. This was the easiest way for me to get everything levelled out. Then I went back and cranked +0.5 into the wings. It turned out great. Maybe later production models are OK to use the canopy floor as a levelling basis. You can try it and see how it turns out. But always go back and level the fuselage on your table and see how it looks with wings at +0.5. Make sure it is sitting in the attitude you want. The wing adjusters shouldn't need to be moved. You can also check and see where the wings end up relative to the molded dimple mark on the fuse. The wings should be lined up pretty close to that mark. The dimple in the fuse at the stab locations doesn't match the right position, at least not on mine.

Default RE: CA Models VISA

If you have any doubts about aligning a CA Model plane you should do the following:

1. Jig the fuselage to the correct amount of THRUST (zero, up, down - get the correct # and set the fuselage to this, providing the motor and spinner backplate look to be mounted correct and flush with the nose of the plane).
2. Set the wing and stab AFTER you jigged the fuselage to the correct thrust setting.

What you want is the correct angular relationship between the motor, wing, stab. I have setup 2 Genesis, 2 Osmose,5 Passports. CA Models is VERY GOOD about the nose and thrust settings in these models and I would assume the Visa is the same. A friends' Visa motor is flush to the fuselage nose.

If you do this, and have a wing incidence between 0.3 and 0.5, and a stab of zero, that would be quite sufficient as a starting point.

Thanks,
Jim

Larry,

Jim and Steve are both correct. I do not think you should need to move the wing adjusters but anything is possible. Feel free to PM me with the details if you should have anymore questions and I will try to help you figure it out. If I am not mistaken you bought the Visa at the Nats from F3A Unlimited is that correct.
