I didn't say that you didn't have Sr.'s temperment, anger issues, etc........ I just couldn't picture the physical likeness :-)
Hey, history has many examples of the not-so-bright being extremely successful. In my case it must just be good looks (I couldn't even type that without gagging).
I call your unknowns.....at least when you are winning, so I feel pretty well insulated, lol. Carry on my friend :-)

Lol I guess black and white can make silver(grey) Anyhow on to more important things then Kleins health and welfare. I just got home from the paint shop, where I was finally able to unmask the first wings and stabs with the Ultrakote on the bottom. I cannot put into words how happy I am with the results.
Steve's and Todd's are ready for clear and they are almost perfect. When I say almost I am not talking technique I am refering to the overall quality. I have to rate these as easy 9's so there is still some room to improve but they are really, really nice and they
are the first ones. Super lite and clean. The wings and stabs are very flat looking (No washboard) and that is what I have been looking for.
Today I think we made a huge leap forward in two areas. One was the Ultrakote, paint system (proving it works) and the second was in how we are going to be doing the sheeting from now on. As many of you know, with even the best models coming from Asia you still see the washboard in the wings.
That is from sanding the sheeting after it has been put on the core. (Foam or built up) Well today we have figured out a way to eliminate that. Normally I am happy to tell all,but this has been a lot of work and (Sr, Jr moments) so I am not going to go into great detail on how. The bottom line is I am completely satified with the wing construction.
Once again Mike,I am sorry that you ordered yours last week, everyone else no problem. I would be posting some pics but I forgot to bring the camera with me. Also Marcelos has had to be away from the shop for the past few days (And has been somewhat distracted when he was there) because Lorena had some health complications. Its not my place to go into detail but the important thing is they will both be ok.

Sounds great. I'm off to China in about an hour so I'll catch up on the progress in a day or so.
By the way, I am really impressed by how well the Passport handled the winds at both Phoenix and then again this last weekend in Yuma. It really is a nice flying plane in the wind.
Pedro Brantuas asked me in Yuma how I liked the Visa and how could it possibly be better than the Passport. I described the feeling of the Visa to be like a Passport "S". Kind of the sport version if you know what I mean.

Sorry Todd I was finishing the Envision and didn´t get to the paint shop til last night. They are preparing yours and Steves wings along with Kleins and Landis fuse´s for clear today. With the new system it has taken us a couple extra days to get all the steps in exactly the right order to simplify the process. Its definitely the way to go in my opinoun, pics tonight I promise

From your past posts in this forum as well as others I concidered you another AM1024 and I really don´t appriciate anything you have to say. My apologies to everyone that has supported myself and CA over the years but from this individual I feel it is totally uncalled for. Maybe I am wrong in this desision but they are my girls and I will not bring them into this good or bad. Once again I am sorry for my feeling about this but they are non-negotiable.

Ok I know I had promised pics now for a couple days but I have been going in 20 directions at once until now. First of all I really need to thank Steve and Todd for aloowing us to try this on there planes and for being a little patient this last week in waiting for the results. I have attached two pictures that I think speak for themselves. Both are of Steve Hannahs wings. The first is the new light wing for his Passport that is all ultra kote covered. The second is for his new Visa that is paint on the top and ultrakote on the bottom.
You guys be the judge.

Mike we are about ready to do some serious flying. In the last 3 months we have completely change just about everything. The wings were the last thing and now I think we have a pretty good handle on them. I attached a photo of the new sheeting being held up to a light. Before it was ok but in spots you could still see some light through the joints and I did not like that at all- Reason being is that the epoxy would seep through when we sheeted the wings and then of course we would have to sand the sheeting. In the last |0 days we have sheeted 12-14 wings and they have all come out perfect. (No Sanding)
I have been practicing a couple times a week but I think Marcelo has only flown a couple times since I have been back. Our first contest is next weekend and I am going to make him go fly this coming week. With the new fuse constuction, the new wing construction, the new finishing techniques, the new landing gear, and last but not least te new (ROUND) wing and stab tubes I am hoping we can slow down a little.
On the other hand we have just finished the Envision and that is going to be that last new model (F3A) for us this year. However in a weak moment we decided I needed a completely new 43% bi-plane if I was going to get serious about Clover Creek and the shootout in the future. I had been wanting to do something different then an Ultimate as it has been done to death and there is only one other full scale plane I know of that is equal to the Ultimate or better. Its called Advantage so that has been our side project. We are building it just like an F3A model from the ground up. Its a Weaks Solution Fuse on Ultimate wings and its absolutely a gorgeous bi-plane.
Enough for now I am starving

Mike Klein's and Dan Landis's new Visa's. My apartment is just around the corner from the paint shop so I walked over to check on the clear. Today we bought the new Dupont Clear and I have to say its incredible. Its 4 to 1 and is dry to polish in less then two hours. After looking at these Visa's I don't even think they need to be rubbed out at all.

Chip,
The wings look great. I'm anxious to get this stuff and see how it all turned out. I'm glad you guys poured all the effort into this, thanks. Anyway, you should really have a nice production setup now. Getting a new plane into production seems like a ton of work, so I'm sure you are ready to get some flying time in for sure.
I look forward to getting started on the Visa when I get back from China. I'm sure it will look awesome, the pics are fantastic.
Steve.

Thanks Stephen! The CA gang did another great job! Gotta give a shout-out to Uncle JAS as he is the one that put these colors together for me last year. I had done the red, black, silver and metallic blue many times....he substituted the light blue and I really like it. I really want to thank the guys at CA for putting together some really sweet layouts for the colors......I have zero imagination when it comes to this stuff. As a CPA, I am all right brain.....I leave the artistic creativity to others and when they deliver results like this, I am glad that I left it to them.

Guys, just got the first batch of Visa "fan" spinners in today. Weight of spinner and backplate is 30.6g (1.08oz). You can see the milling detail in the backplate pics and the milled openings in the spinner cone.

You need to read about Isocyanates.
Base coats are one thing; clear is quite another!!!!

I own a body shop and have been painting cars for 30 years. I know all about isocyanates. I didn't think my question was that difficult. I wanted the Part # for the "new" clear that Chip used, maybe it's new to the west coast and I haven't seen it yet or maybe I have used it already. My "color" question was meant to ask what was applied under the clearcoat: Dupont ChromaBase basecoat, ChromaPremier basecoat, Chroma single stage urethane or something different.
