Are you guys saying it's normal for me to spend 10 minutes looking for the pencil that is sticking out of my mouth? Nothing to worry about then?

That's exactly what we're talking about....apparently it's totally normal. No need to worry.

Paul,

In your case, your memory issue has been accelerated by the frozen tundra, the home of Nanook of the North. 85 and sunny in Fort Myers today. You better put the plane away tonight and dig out the shovel. Snow is on its way.

I'm having withdrawal pains, haven't been able to fly in two weeks because of winds, air shows, and other activities. Maybe tomorrow.

22x8 ones it's broken in.
23x8 on a tuned pipe.

Due to its weight, the Mezjlik won't accelerate as fast as eg the Vess 23A.

Thanks great photo's. So it looks like you t right into the line that goes from the tank to the carb right? And then the vent line comes off the tank and does a big loop and then is set up so it drips out the bottom when it is full right? I can't see that well where your vent line goes but is that right? Thanks for that help. The rate I am going and the money not dry yet. I should be in the air by mid week next week

You got it all right Eric, you can let the vent line exit anywhere convenient on the bottom of the fuse or cowl. The loop in the vent line on top of the tank is the most important part. It will keep fuel from being able to siphon out of the tank and if the plane is tipped up on it's nose only a few drops if anything at all can leak out.

I used a 22x8 mezjlik for break-in on a DL50.
23x8 mezjlik is totally fine on a DL50, or 55 and will accelerate nicely. It has lower load constant than Vess and Xoar.

With a tuned pipe, you could run 24x8 prop.

Super08,

I picked up a useful tidbit when looking at your photo. I don't know if it is yours, but that is a great idea to have the "T" facing away from the fuel dot location.

I use the H9 fuel dots and they sometimes pop out (but not the plugs, thankfully!!) because my fuel line runs straight from the "T" to the fuel dot fitting. Your arrangement would put an end to that.

Thanks!

I use the Madison products Miracle fuelers. They are 1/4 turn and work awesome. Never pop out, just twist them out when you want them out. Twist them back in.

Super08,

Do you have an inline fuel filter? If not, do yourself a favor and put one in.

Bob, yes I did that on purpose and it seems to work good.

Chuck I don't run filters on my planes. I use a felt type filter on the pickup in my gas can as well as an inline filter on the filler hose going to the plane. So far I haven't had any problems with gunk building up in my carb screen. That's not saying it won't happen. But so far it has been working for me.

Thanks, I have saved the link!

I noticed that over the winter some of the fuel lines stiffened up, which I think led to some very small fuel leakage around the "T" and the inline filter when I flew the Yak last week. I plan to re-plumb when I get home from work today. I have a spool of the Du-Bro Tygon tubing (with the milky yellow hue) which seems to maintain resiliency better than the clear stuff.

Not a bad idea. I lost a plane a couple of years ago due to a clunk line that had stiffened and caused fuel starvation at a most inopportune time...[&o]

I am going to start using Viton (sp?) tubing inside my tanks. It is more expensive , but is supposed to last much longer and stay flexible.

Hey my timing was at 39 degrees. I moved it as close to 28 as I could as mentioned in this forum, but it's still more like 33 or something. The motor doesn't start easy and pops a lot from low to ~2/3 throttle now. I'm putting it back to 39 degrees! It started awesome before. I think it popped before though too so maybe my low end is just rich?? Ideas? Comments?
Way back on page 154, only a month ago, I posted this question. I just thought I'd give a post-flight analysis of what I did to fix it. Timing was off, I timed it right - pictures shown on page 155. Jetting was a tad rich on the low end, I slightly changed that. It starts and runs perfect.

Here's a [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeLX07dTAU4]video[/link] I posted of my DL pulling my Aeroworks around w/ some smoke. Listen to that beautiful running motor!
