I thought so too when I wrote it back in February. Henry could have at least taken his own pictures instead of stealing mine, lazy schmuck.

Jody,

Your photos are crystal clear, not resized like on the rcaer link.

Thank you for providing the original thread link.

No sweat, not anyone in here's fault, I just take issue with anyone who steals and puts their name on someone else's hard work whether it be mine or anyone else's, especially for commercial purposes.

Any of the Stihl oils are good mixed at 32:1, the white bottle, HP Ultra is what I use.

The plug cap on my DLE 30 Rcexl ignition doesn't fit the CM6 plug. Which cap do I need and where do I get it? BTW Thanks Jedijody for the tutorial on replacing the cap. I think I can do that.

The cap does fit your spark plug, it's just very hard to get on and off the first few times. You have to push very hard, if you don't wear a glove it will likely hurt your hand and leave a mark.

You were exactly right. It took a bit of doing and a pair of leather work gloves but it finally snapped on there. Ran the engine for the first time today and all I can say is "Wow." I am impressed to say the least. I am running it on an older Goldberg Sukhoi at 12 lbs. and it really flies it great.

You are one lucky Guy. That Carl Goldberg Sukhoi was one of the best made kits around. I seen a guy place a G62 on one...never had a bit of trouble. It would pull out of a hover like a rocket! His name is Pete & run Petes Hobbies out of Grand Rapids Mich. Capt,n

Yea I know. I've had this particular one for several years and this is the 3rd engine I've had on it. I got lucky and found a guy on RCU selling a brand new set of wings, new canopy, belly pan and cowl for it. I hope I don't ever need them but since the plane was long discontinued I figured I'd better buy them just in case. I had another one, kit built, before that. Ended up selling it or trading it..whatever. You are right though they are definitely good fliers.

HI All,

I just bought a H9 Sundowner F1 NIB and am looking for an engine for it.  I am thinking
of the DLE 30 on some sort of pipe, maybe a macs.

Has any one ran a 14x12 prop on this engine and what RPM did you get?  If I can get
9000 RPM on this prop, that would get me to about 102 MPH down hill.  That is fast enough
for me to still be in full control.

What do you think?
Cheers Tim

<hr />PM Antique, he should know. He builds engines for use in the National Pylon Race people & is quite a smart man for sure. Best Regards Capt,n

That would be just great! Could I ask what brand your CF 14x14 is?

Thanks

so I have the 30 all mounted up and am cutting the cowl in my question is I have these pipes hanging down quite a bit from my pits muffler is there a reasonable minimum lenghth I can cut the tubes down, so there not quite as long , ideally I want them as flush as I can get them to the cowl, my concern is affecting performance or back pressure.

any insight into this, I wanted to ask before I cut them too short and need to buy another muffler.

Some pitts mufflers have a crimped area right at the outlet of the pipes.

If yours are just straight pipes with no crimp on the end, there is no reason you cannot cut them off

Has anyone seen a post on an installed smoked system for this engine? I guess I'm trying to figure out where the best place is to install the fitting on the stock muffler and I have also been told that I need to distrupt the stream of smoke oil at the end of the fitting. What is the best way to do that? I was thinking of using screen door screening but I'm not sure how it will hold up to the exhaust heat?

Metal door screen holds up OK. It eventually gets clogged with carbon.

Thanks w8ye......I guess the screen idea wont work very well if I have to JB weld the fitting into place. Can't take it out to clean it. Any suggestions?
