I bought both of my DLE-20's from VVRC, and I just got a really trick fuel dot/switch setup from them this week. I also like to get my props from them, because they will drill them for you.

Man am I glad...no more T Hobbies adds showing up on my computer any more. No more of the junk fuel line they sell either. The plan they have is max out on profit...period! I have found any good Local Hobby Shop Worth its salt (and some that are not local) will order the same items for you and match & even beat T.H. prices. Must be they have a lot of adds to get rid of...if you order a little part...it comes in a box big enough to ship2 engines. Nuff said I guess, the mods may end my welcome forever. so I will not harp any more. Honest! Capt,n

i won't defend Tower, but through club member discounts i did get the DLE 30 for less than 240 bucks plus free shipping.
personally i don't think there is any real honesty in their "2 year warranty" as they will first try to find something wrong to say it was the users fault, so there is really no warranty at all.
if it weren't for my knowledge of engines and how to rework and repair them, i'd be flying electric................no wait, rubber powered is more like it

now one thing Tower does do though that i haven't had happen is to replace an item when the value is 35 bucks or less without making you return the defective item first, or same goes for when they screwup and send the wrong item.
only problem i had recently though was a rusted looking screw on the carb of the DLE in which they wanted me to send the engine back foir replacement............at the time they were out of stock, so downtime on my build forced me to buy another carb............that one incident left a bitter taste in my mouth.
straight up prices though are fair, but only when buying enough to take advantage of the discount codes.
otherwise, the LHS matches them all day long.

WOW! This thread seems to have turned into a Bash Tower Hobbies. I purchase most of my "stuff" from the LHS here in Ocala BUT
they get it from Great Planes (tower hobbies). I had a problem with the carb on my DLE 20 and Tower replaced the whole carb, back
plate and all and did not even ask for the old carb back and shipped it in THREE days so I am very pleased with there service, maybe
others have not had such good service. I did have to download the manual from the internet as the one that came with the engine was
one page in Nipponnese and English and of not much worth. I speak Nipponese but I sure can not read it! Again, I thank all for there
input on my questions.

Hey guys I know this has been covered because I have been reading this tread for a couple of months.
Hears my problem.
I have a brand new DLE 30 Rear carb.
Mounted it today and tried to start it but nothing happened. This is not my first gas engine.. Had a DA 5o, And an RCGF50cc but this is my first 30.
Did some test on the tank and its good. I squirted some gas on the carb and it fired for a couple of second. But after that nothing.
What can I do??

Airborne, that is an excellent choice! I have one myself, and there are two more at the field also. Can't beat it for the price!! The plane flies great!!

trickpony it is possible to mount the 30 on it, but it will take some work. The plane has a firewall to prop distance of 150mm or 5.9" which is much shorter than the engine. you will need to either cut off the firewall and move it back or use shorter standoffs and bury the carb through the firewall. The plane is showing around 13 pounds which is a little heavy for a 70" wingspan plane. I would guess it must be built rather strong as most of them now are 9.5 to 11.5 pounds for a plane that size. So with that in mind it is not going to fly as well due to the higher wing loading.

There is a thread in the Warbirds section where we are discussing installing this engine in a World Models GS mustang, and a video of one flying with this engine. Looks like a great combo to me.
Thought some might want to take a look - the thread is "World models 80 inch p51 engine advice"

try squirting gas in the carb a few more times. Sounds like it has to get the carb wet in order to pump the gas for the first time.
I've had to do this now and then.

Super, I have this plane right here, with a rear carb DLE30 on it. The cowl sits right where you put it, and there is plenty of room for this engine. I can take pictures if you want. No need to touch the firewall! It is very light and flies like a dream. In fact, it is way lighter than my AW 90/120 size Yak with the DLE 30 on it. It's like we're talking about two different planes here maybe?

Hi everyone:
I have a problem with my DLE30 side carb version which has 253 flights in it.
Before I begin this is the set-up I have to fuel my plane.. In my gas can I have 3 fuel filters : one inside, one before the fuel pump and lastly another one before it goes into the plane's fuel fill up line.
Here's the problem:
It's begun after these last 6 flights. After you start the engine up and wait the 10 seconds for it to heat up before throttling up. in which its in idle. I start to throttle up and as soon as I get close to high speed the engine starts to hesitate like either no fuel or air is going into the engine at high speed.. yet you throttle down back to idle it stops.. do it again be it slowly or suddenly throttling up and does the same thing.
I checked the carburator's fuel filter and its extremely clean, some one int he club recomended I blow some air into it to make sure it wasn't pulgged up beyond that.. did it and nothing. someone also suggested to close the choke and open it as soon as the engine begins to sputter in high speed.. I did and it worked but 2 flights later problem again appears..
During all this I had not moved my needle setting as the plane is perfectly tuned.. I moved them a bit specially the high speed it helped a bit.. then 2 flights later yet again the problem appears...
Does anyone know what in the heck is wrong? how to fix it?
