The closest engine that "might" fit your needs could be a Syssa 1.80. It has rear exhaust. I don't thing turning the jug on a 20 dle is possilbe as there are porting issues through a cut-out piston skirt.

edit: just found Jody's pics of the internals in post#625 and I see the cases isn't symetrical so the answer is no.

Crazy question but is there any reason why the cylinder couldn't/shouldn't be rotated 90* to relocate the exhaust outlet to the front or rear? I've been offered an ESM Stuka in winter camo for aridiculous price and the DLE20 is my engine of choice. I'd like to fab scale exhaust because the cowl is so narrow there isn't room for any available exhausts without hacking the cowl which obviously detracts from the scaleappearance. My thought is to have the exhaust exit to the rear into a canister like the pitts and then an outlet on each side going to the scale exhaust tubes and I'll probobly start with the profile exhaust the VVRC offers.<div>

I'd post the pictures to illustrate why but since it's no longer possible to post pictures on RCU you'll have to use the link below to find where I posted them before.

You cannot install a DLE20 cylinder in any position other than it's stock position, it cannot even be turned 180*.

Jody,
Must be something wrong with your computer? I manage to get the pictures up there but have to agree that there is a problem in the I. T. area?
Here is a picture of a DLE 20 showing a good view of the top of the crankcase and the bottom of the cylinder. If you compare the two, you can see why the cylinder can not be rotated.

Thanks Jim, that's the picture I was trying to upload. I've tried both methods of uploading and all I get is the 500 sever error. I can upload pics to two other forums with no trouble at all. It must be a problem with whatever RCU server I get connected through.

This picture loading problem has been around for a couple weeks. I wish they could find the problem. I manage to get around their problems.
That picture I put up there is just a link to the picture in the thread.
First thing you know, those I.T. guys will reload parts of the program into different areas and those hundreds of links will not match up any more and bye bye picture.

None are (yet) missing there. But "smilies" are missing a bunch of images.
Your link (above) doesn't work, yet the same link as such does work;

This one works as well.......

Hopefully you're not experiencing the dreaded "ID TEN T" computer error.[sm=sad_smile.gif]

Custom exhaust is the way to go.
Just Engines made up a header for me that fits inside the narrow cowl of a TWM SPot On Pattern Plane. I have 1.5mm clearance between inner wall of the cowl and the bolt holding the header in place. It then bends backward and up to meet the centre line of teh fuselage and the tunnel.
If you send them a picture of the engine installation and perhaps apply some dimensions to the picture they should be able to make up a header and a can that will fit. Then its just a matter of routing the scale outlets forward to meet the outlets on the cowl.
All possible with a bitof patience, a decent dialogue and creativity. DOn't give up!!

DLE 20 or DLE 30?
I have a NIB Showtime 90 that I'm finally going to start to put together. Flying weight should be about 9LBS.
My field is at 2900 feet, in the high desert and I want good response but also want to keep it as light as possible.
Which motor should I use the DLE 20 or 30? All comments welcome!
Thanks
Chuck

Hey Guys,
I don't want to start a controversy.... I'm just a a real newbie to gas motors and so have been reading, learning and lurking.
I have my DLE-20 waiting to go into a VQ Hurricane. It's a tight installation and looks like it will require a custom JTec muffler. Then I found the threads outlining the steps to run on Gas/Glow with no ignition.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_80...tm.htm#8009384
Do you know if the DLE-20 has run this way? Any insights you guys could give to this specifically to the DLE-20 would be great.
I'm really looking forward to the change over from electric to gas. The miserly way they sip fuel and the ease of use really call out to me.
When I found the Gas/Glow info I was instantly impressed with the lack of need for the ignition in both it's simplicity and extra room it would afford.
As a total newbie do you think it would be worth it for me? Would the DLE-20 be a good candidate for Gas/Glow?
Joe
