Ok let's have a quizz on the saito fa115..i've heard a nasty nasty rumour which was'nt started by me dammit! that it may have a cdi ignition which would make it so reliable and efficient that you go to sleep while it's running and just like watching a v8 gas guzzling fuel gauge go backwards so your hair turns grey at the same rate while your clothes fade to beige and somebody pushes an expensive cane rocking chair up behind you so your precious you know what does'nt get hurt
...let's keep livin on the edge of cranky maybe high nitro glow ignitions with a decent amount of 'whats going to happen next' built into them,a tuning challenge in a new plane and living more on the ragged edge sound wise too.Bit like rolling home drunk as and late where you know the handbrake is just waitin for you behind the front door...tell me that don't make you feel alive

The resulting roar is kinda scary actually.

Why oh WHY did you plant that image???????
If an FA 100 is overpower for a SIG 1/5th Cub, the 115 will rip the firewall off. With the 100 and a 14x8 MAS, it will go vertical like an F-15.

SR, Will you be getting your conversion parts from Adrian? I've also got a 115FA that I'd like to equip with CDI. Very interested in your testing results.

Already have it. Check your prop drive hub & collet. Some FA-115s came with aluminum collets & won't hold ignition timing. The replacements are brass if you need to go that route.

Nah he'll probably wear a cheesecutter hat and the old 2+4 english golfing outfit while flying.Plaid stripes on the pants maybe
which reminds me thanks for the laugh till i cried and started laughing again popey.Say..you don't look like 'animal' out of the old muppet show do ya? he was the one on drums??
Sr the cub is draggy and looks scale with a 15 or 16x6 on it.The midget runs a mas 15x8 because it looks nice in the air at scale speed,it will rip the prop tips in a slight dive.
It does trev.Did you post the photo's a while back of a kit??
ps sr towards the end of the article you quote they say that as the war went on the quality of the rifles dropped off dramatically,i did'nt know they had chrome barrels.

They probably used chrome to help prevent corrosion since they were largely operating in tropical climates.

Anybody have a clue?
HINT: Although it is a wildcat cartridge, it fires in an unaltered factory chamber. Only the bolt has been altered. The rifles were made from about 1971 to 1973 by Remington only. They were available in either clip or tubular magazine versions.
The 2nd picture is a small Altoids tin, not the normal size so that might give a clue as to the size of the cartridges. Also note the size of the bullet holes compared to the dime in the target pictures.

OK I'll bite, .17 Hornady Mach 2. they appear to be .22 LR cases by the size of the tin, and .17 size bullet. They look too small to be the Winchester Magnum Rimfires, and the bullet looks very much like the .17 Remington Fireball, which shares the same cartridge as the .222 Remington Fireball. The Farm & Fleet in Wisconsin has the .17 Fireballs in stock, and they look to be much longer than what you picture, so thats my guess.
Am I close?
