Well, finally converted my last glow engine. I bought an old CMPro 50cc Zero and it had the FA-450R3 in it. First I wanted to sell it but the Zero and the engine fit quite well together so I thought I would go for it and convert it to petrol.
Really happy with how its running. The straight pipes give it that nice four stroke popping and I really like the smoke due to the high oil percentage

Carb and manifold from CH Ignitions
Timing ring and pickup from Morris Moni Motors
RCExl ignition from KPO Flugmodellbau
Running Aspen alkylate petrol with 20:1 high performance synthetic two stroke oil
Falcon 24x10 carbon prop tachs at 5.800rpm with a rich setting
Idle at 850rpm

Hey reverend, I have the same CMpro Zero partially assembled. Really not sure how I want to power it so please post a vid of yours once you get it in the air.

BTW, 20:1 Is not really a heavy oil mix for 4 stroke gasser with plain bearing rod ends. I run my gas conversions with 15:1. No noticeable loss of power doing that and it provides extra insurance against long term wear.

Yessir, a given, almost 'goes without saying'.

Heck, the "That's why it has a throttle" logic would lean towards a 170R3 over the anemic 120R3. Bigger also sounds better!
Maybe get by with aluminum sheeted tail rather than sheet steel

According to many reports the FA170R3 has serious fuel distribution issues. Purportedly the worst of any of the Saito radials. I should buy one, just to find the fix.

They are pretty little things.

Yep, the fix may be to let the darned thing break in on all cylinders. I suspect that many don't wait long enough for that to happen, get all PO'd and sell it prematurely.

Old School Model Works has this website where you download larger colored images of the pictures in the instructions. I am printing some of them. https://www.oldschoolmodels.com/mpics/rh80/

I am taking advantage of this feature.

Jim, the artificial intelligences in control of the PM feature will not permit a reply to your question. Send me your email or phone number. I found a genuine Jacobs made arbor.

Here is one from Cushman,

Like I said send me your email address. That is only one source and they have many.
There are other sources as well but the PM feature is not working so we need an email.

lcould buy it and forward it to you if you like.

I get it, you don't want made in China and don't trust ebay.
Not my first rodeo. I have made many tool purchases using ebay .

Ebay is not the seller, the seller is independent.
I have been using ebay for over twenty years. Over 4000 transactions and have 100% feedback. If it were that bad, I would have quit long ago.

At least with ebay I get return rights and buyer protection. Something you often do not, cannot get when buying direct.

Good luck but be well aware, you may order a brand new, genuine Jacobs arbor from wherever you pick. A good chance that Jacobs is now having their arbors made in China.
The new old stock Cushman arbor was for certain US made.
You asked for help, I did try.

Lonnie, these appear the way they do because the upper spars come all the way out to them.

The original Robin Hood 25 used very similar construction. I bought mine Friday afternoon and was flying it the next morning.

The first and only time I ever did that.

Morse Taper - Jacobs Taper Arbor_jacobs
yes, that is what I said in my first PM to you, "Jacob arbors are made in China" and that is why I won't buy them.
I will search Cushman arbors. but as for now, I won't feel guilt for overlooking Ebay.

thanks for the help!

I have this Saito 100 chucked up in the PSP and ready to run. The timing is set at 32 btdc, hopefully that is just right.

Assuming you're running methanol 32° BTDC is a nice conservative place to start.

Finally

Spinner is too big, I think, it's the only one with slots large enough.

Jim
There are still plenty of new,old stock, USA made Jacobs arbors sitting on shelves at industrial supply stores. Ebay is still one of the best and easiest places to find them.
As well as other American made tooling of all types.
