Hi all, I´d like to build a WACO YMF. Is there any good plan for it?

Contact the AMA Plans department. They offer the 1/5 th scale plan set with our templates. There are plans for the quarter scale version from Jim Pepino, but they are notoriously bad, but it can be built. I'm working on a 27% set that should be on the money.

How are those plans coming along? When can we expect to be able to get a copy?

We will be patiently waiting for your 27% knowing they will be spot on scale. Will you have to make your cowl and pants as well?
I took your advice and got some minwax water based polycrylic and brushed a coat over the solartex to seal it. Work out great thanks.

You are very welcome Dan. As to the wheel pants and cowl, I'll probably build a mold from the original plug and then lay up my own. I don't know if Fibertech or Fiberglas Specialists would want to offer yet another size set for this plane. I guess time will tell.

Barth 1/3 YMF build moving slowly. Thanks to Chuck L for sending Barth YMF build PDF. According to manual they are now on version 3. I must have version 1. Somewhere they mentioned improved landing gear. Does anybody know if the old ones were weak or should be beefed up?
Thanks and Merry Christmas

Looking Good Mike,
Peter Barth is a member here so maybe he will stop in and answer any questions you have.
I just cracked open the box containing my new fuselage kit and getting ready to start laminating parts to build the fuse. I am really dreading building this thing again. This will be my 3rd Waco fuselage and just can't get excited about it. Maybe once I get the framing out of the way and start the finishing process it will get me motivated.
Later!!

Happy New Year wishes to everyone.
When I first started my 1/5 scale project back in the spring, I downloaded a copy of the plans in .pdf format. At that time, they opened perfectly. Now, all I get is a blank .pdf page. Anyone have any clues as to what might be going on? I have a late version of Adobe Reader.
TIA,.
Joe

Joe,
No Clue. I have Adobe Reader X (10.1.4) and do not have any problems with the PDFs of the Pica Plans.
You may hve to try other PDFs and see if they open correctly. If they do you need a new copy of the plans PDFs. If not you need a new copy of Adobe.

RE: WACO YMF
Barth 1/3 YMF still moving ahead. Gotta love the Germans with their attention to detail. Every part numbered, even spars and wing sheeting. It is fitting together pretty well. But since everything is cut to size, I had a hard time clamping sheeting for LE center section once opposite side was in place. So I cut a wider sheet that was easier to clamp in place. Probably should have used sandbags instead. Will probably do that for long wing sections. Better ideas?
Thanks,

Mike,
Please use 3M tape, it would help to pay my pension. With tape, you will find that is doesn't stick to balsa reliably, just wrap around so the ends overlap.

RE: WACO YMF
Guys, thanks for the tip. This monster is larger than anything I've attempted to date. I need to soak the sheeting to keep it from cracking, so I'll wrap it around as needed. Chuck L..... We drive by 3M HQ in MSP going to visit relatives in MN. I think they're doing just fine.
