I just found out ZAP hinge glue is no longer available, other than epoxy has anyone tried anything else to glue in nylon hinges?
I was thinking of using RC56 canopy glue because it claims to be flexible and glue nylon to wood.
any other suggestions. Thanks Greg

I just use epoxy. I have never had one fail. I put it in the slot and then warm it up a bit with my heat gun which allows it to flow better, add some more epoxy to the slot, wipe of the excess and slide the hinge in. I always make sure the hinge is clear of the epoxy and then I let it dry. Good Luck, Dave

I use gorilla glue. A hole punch in the middle, a flattened syringe, a little spritz of water and the job is good till morning when I pull the little blobs off. On my racing planes the wood pulls out before the hinge.

I also give each pinned hinge a few swipes with 36 grit to pull up some nylon stringers. Increases the grab...
I will always use dubro pinned hinges and hinge points done like this. I am done with ca hinges. If yer ca hinges aren't wearing out then yer not flying enough! I wore out many over 3 years. I hate ca hinges.

I"ll second the ca hinge hate! what junk. My wife got me a corsair with the ca hinges and when i landed from the first flight 2 aleron & 3 elevator hinges were torn in half. I am just getting back into this and went back to the old method of pinning my hinges. I used to use tooth picks cut flush with the stab/wing but now just use regular straight pins and have had no problems.

You will be impressed with the hold, no pins or tooth picks needed...

I have used epoxy and gorilla glue. I still have some Pacer on hand but when I have a hinge hole that has wobbled out and has any slop in it from all my test fitting I use the Gorilla glue. I use a bit of oil on the metal part of my hinge to help keep any of the glue from getting in there and binding. Gorilla glue expands and fills in the slop and really grabs the pins or flat hinge. I do go out to the shop every few hours and wipe off any of the glue that expands out of the hole or slot. It works but I still pick up Pacer when I see any on the shelf.
