sorry i have been away. I must say 9.6 works ideal on 6cell Txs( 9volt) little overvoltage but works). I neveer tried 9.6 on 12V Txs, I think it would kind of be a little weak but who knows. Its DEFFINATELY safe since its rated lower voltage but i am not sure how much it will benefit.
edit:
I was talking about Rx, for the receiver it would most likely not work but for the transmitter its totally safe, dont know if it would work due to low voltage, but try, it wont hurt it

no because i am pretty sure a 9.6 will to out at around 10.7 volts, since thats what mt transmitter for my airplanes top out at with the 9.6. but the 9volts top out at 9 volts.

Ok so i am kind of thinking of building my very own 1/8 scale buggy, which will be similar to a truggy. Not for racing (but would be nice to have the speed/handling) but for bashing. To me monster trucks seem extremely tipsy and bulky, and not as attractive as buggies so I am thinking to get some .30 engine (doc I hope for your help on this one) truggy wheels, good longer suspension (truggy/mt like) and maybe customize the buggy to double suspension on each side. Hoping to have an aluminum bottom plate and carbon fiber upper late with rubber+plastic front bumper. Hopefully to get a tranny that will be able to reverse. On top of that I'll get a DX3, 1 free channel for mods.
Do you think this is a dumbass idea? What would you recommend? or maybe i should just buy a buggy and mod that, whould that be cheaper?

Of course, you can do what you want, but it sounds like you want to build a 1/8 buggy for bashing, not racing? Why not not just go with a monster truck? I wouldn't be overly concerned with it being tipsy. Here is a monster truck, with 40 series rims and tires, which is set up for racing. It is extremely stable and durable. Best of both worlds.

And here is my monster truck, set up for bashing, and you can see it still gets through the turns pretty well:

Of course, its your decision, but didn't know if you had all the info.....

sounds expensive and alot of work but absolutely possible. can i recommend traxxas drivetrain from a revo for instance. very durable and the tranny has reverse and limited slip.

what you may want to do is just go on ebay and pick up a 1/8 scale buggy chasis, and a engine for it. you mentioned a .30 engine, Just a tip from my experience the bigger engines usually have more hp but lower rpm, I have a few engines and my favorite all around engine is a ofna hyper .21 8 port engine it has around 2.9 hp and I think its rated for 35000rpm [link]http://www.ofna.com/eng-hyper21.html[/link] and I also have a xtm 24.7 pro engine with 2.75 hp and rated for I think around 32000 rpm. My ofna engine is a way nicer engine to use. I think going to a .30 you still probally wont get much more then 3.0 hp out of it. Also I dont know if it is just me but I find the bigblocks (.21+) are much easier to start and tune, I dont find any need to have a roto start on them they always seem to start first pull, where my smt .18 I will never go back to the pull start on that.

If you are looking for a bashing vehicle I would more towards a truggy, or a 1/8 stadium truck like a hellfire [link]http://www.hobbytron.com/HPIHellfireRTRRCNitroMonsterTruckPackageDeal.html[/link] I find that 1/8 buggy are so fast that if you hit anything at near top speed you are going to be replacing parts where the stadium trucks seem to be more forgiving, and will handle almost as well as a buggy.

Hey Trailblazer, I think we just got that storm you were talking about, man we were dumped on, got over a foot of snow here. wish I had some paddle tires to through on there. looks like we have a bit to much snow to get the buggy out today.

damnit you guys, you are like my family, you always know what you say
thanks for your replies. I must say I am looking for some fun building a car and i feel like nothing beats buggies durability and speed (not considering onroad). Yesss wienersport, i see what you mean, great idea, i will steal the drivetrain off a revo (i need reversable). shawndecoste, yea, i think ill go for 4 horsepower .30 engine, ill just make sure my gearing is right so i get max speed out of it. So for now i'll start saving money for this sweet project. I think ill buy a used 1/8 scale buggy, replace the engine/drivetrain with .30 with a reversible revo tranny, and some suspension, perhaps even double on all sides.

from what i know most .30 engines are close to 4hp, for example:

or:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-Infinity-Mon...QQcmdZViewItem
edit: the price is incredible low, i dont even care if its a little lower than 4hp

the Infinity engine is 2.9 hp but is 42000 rpm (highest I have seen) if it comes with that pipe it would be a great deal. I cannot find the specs on the sts engine, but that also looks like a good deal.

finally got the buggy back together with cvd drive shafts and brand new wheels. also got some al parts from speedy tiger 2 installed. Repaired my rear diff and found that the rear driving gear show no signs of wear. It made a real big difference to get rid of that AL clutch! Also checked the smartech plastic clutch and its fine, thanks to low idle rpm. The first clutch i had melted in 2 days, thanks to high idle rpm
