I wanna get me a new body for both my evaders. Any good lookin bodies that'll fit besides the stock bodies??? Also, where can I get like an outline or somethin to do some mock drawings???
losi xxt body is a direct fit.
Waiting on some e-fire front body mounts and I am gonna try one of these bodies.

Another question, would I be ok runnin 7-cell batteries?? Will they even fit?? (there cheaper on TH than 6-cels, why is that??
Yes you can run a seven cell battery. I had to dremel the space where the battery bar locks in the back end of the truck.

Does anyone know what I need to modify to make a 550 size motor fit in my vader st? Short of ordering a new 540 motor If I can't make it fit I'm stuck. LHS is dropping parts support for everything but Losi, AE and Traxxas. If it won't fit even with modifications then I have one with the stock motor and extras for sale..lol

Oh what a difference an inch makes.

Thanks Lug for the tip on the proline badlands. Between raising the suspension up as high as it will go, badlands in back and slightly larger associated rims (with dirt hawg 3s) in front, I've got some very respectable ground clearance now. Getting the buggy up out of the grass combined with the larger tires gives it significantly more speed on the lawn. My only problem now is that with the raised CoG, it tends to roll over at even moderate speeds. After I raised the suspension, the wheels had a noticeable negative camber. I moved the ball stud for the rear camber link rod to the outer hole, but that gave it a severe positive camber, which I think is contributing to my rolling problem. What sort of tweaking would you guys recommend to keep this thing shiny side up?

haha very nice, candre

oh yeah sorry i forgot to mention the rolling part, well if you can dropping the suspention, or removing some preload on the shocks in the rear will help, but yes high COG and narrow width isn't a good combo but sure is fun, also i forgot to mention it but dropping your gearing a tooth or 2, is always a good idea with these tires

I swapped out the 81t spur for an 88t version, so hopefully that will compensate for the larger tires. I'm not sure I'm willing to drop the suspension lower - after all, improved ground clearance was the whole point of the big tires. I may just see if going back to negative camber will help. It should in theory, but practice will prove it out.

your gearing should be good then... well it was jsut a thought the tires may be overkill with your suspention so a little handling might not hurt

nice to see a vet around. i remember the brace kit, nice to see
people still thinking about the vaders. i actually read this whole thread
when i started out.3 months worth. havnt heard much from the others
besides cheech.

seeing people thinking of making custom parts is cool. i should really do up
a video/tutorial on how to covert the ext/exb to traxxas slider driveshafts, and how
to make custom rings for the st, problem is time and being bothered. im making a
motorized pushbike because i lost my license.gotta love tinkering
might be working on the evaders more since i will be at home more often.lol.

*on another note, there's no reason a 550 motor wont fit the vader. i ran a 12t
titan motor on 3s and for one run, it was one of the baddest things ive ever seen. ive ran
drill motors too.

The titian 12t fits, Iput one in when my photon crapped out. The shaft sticks out to far for the gear cover though.

Slipper bushing. How much wear are you guys seeing ?

Mine is trashed after about 30runs, not a big deal but just wondering how long everyones is lasting.

Lug had mentioned using a thrust bearing tn place of the smaller bushing but I wonder how it would do exposed and not able to keep any grease

pad is brittle also, im guessing from the heat. I run it a little loose but I like traction more than wheelies

Yeah, I think so many people come and go all the time because the hobby itself is so transitional. But once a T.E.C. guy, always a T.E.C. guy. That reminds me...do you remember Raz from early on? I think he's a HPI Baja owner now (that or someone has taken his online ID in another forum).

Regarding bodies...you can really use a lot of different bodies on these Evaders. It just takes longer posts sometimes but I've run Camaro, Mustang, Porsche and other bodies on mine. All of the "odd" bodies I used were HPI.

Futzed around with it some more today. Neutral camber is as far as I can go. If the back tires lean in at all, they start to rub om the springs. As it is I had to cut away some of the body because it was catching the tires in reverse. Still, going from positive to neutral improved things a bit. I think the moral of the story is exactly what you guys have been telling me the whole time - buggies aren't cut out for grass.

I've got an offer in on a used Stampede VXL. If that comes through I'll just use that on the lawn and bring the EXB suspension back down to something reasonable for dirt/pavement.

You should petition the owner of the mail box to have arm floaties built around the post. its a community hazard and they should make it safe for them reckless vader boys
