Its not rudder size, its side area. I played with mine and with a P-100 on near full power it holds a KE quite well.
I have an idea already to improve it and will do some photos to show you in a day or so.
Elevator/tail area is spot on and does not need increasing

well gents got back from wangaratta jets yesterday where I got to fly my xcaliber some more. had a bucket of fun K100 power short take offs and vertical rolling climbs. for a cheap jet these
things are just too much fun to play with fully aerobatic and very straight with stable slow landings. will be my weekend fun jet for a long time to come. hope my distributer gets more for me to sell soon. if anyone in oz see's me have a fly just to prove it. you will need to be on mode one though

If you look at the beginning of the thread the prototype and first built were with a P-60, so less than the Mk3 Wren probably. I also test flew one last friday again with a P-60, In Scotland I have a club with all P-60's powering...
Your Wren is ample.

Well guys, mines finished. Balanced with an additional 330 grams of lead in the Nose.
Had 3 Life batteries in the front nose, and bubble trap as physically far forward as humanly possible. Was hoping for less weight to be honest but it is what it is.
Some pics below. Final balance point was 167mm and I had full sized servos in the rudder.
Time to make her look cool with some artwork!

Another day at PMFC...with four Xcalibur's Latest to fly Colin E's P-60 version from yesterdays set up performed perfectly over the three flights we did today. Colin pictured after his first proper go. No additional weight in the nose of this one with the P-60, three 2200 2s Li-Po's in the nose with pump etc there too. Midi rudder servos and a full size Elevator.
We were also blessed today with refreshments delivered to the site. A new business in our area is cafe2U where proper barista coffee served from a mobile unit. The girls deliver to my office twice a day and I managed to persuade them to visit the club on our UK public holiday and make coffee's and serve cake/sandwiches etc...brilliant for me as a coffee addict! Since we had four Xcalibur's lined up the guys persuaded them to pose with the models.

Congrats on the test flight. You'll be able to do it after 40-50 jet builds too ;-)
I'm likely to build another in late June, so will see if I can knock some time off :-))
Colin's first jet build too, the one I test flew today was inside 2 months...question asking ;-)

Ken. Positive and negative snaps and spins are a ball!
Another four flights today, must get a video of it sometime soon...its brilliant fun!
Let "little Stevie" have a flight at the end of the day...he's discovered the inverted flat spin now too :-))

Had a great maiden today, running K80G and Trim Air Electric Retracts with Hitec 5645mg Servos all around.
Predictable and smooth with only a few clicks of elevator trim.
Landing was just perfect but she decided to take off again with a rise in our runway, plus i should have cut the nose strut a fraction shorter. I was warned!. All good, added a little bit of thrust and touched down nicely a second time but didn't have much runway left as you can see in the pic. Perhaps 10 meters. I've done a few minor tweaks and we're ready to go again..
I don't know what you guys think but the flap seems a little more like an air brake to me
Looking forward to having many weekends of good flying with this bird.
Anyone thinking this might be a good weekend flyer at your club or just a good sports jet.... just do it

Good for you that rabbit is plenty of power and a great choice. As for the trim that has been the one negative that I have about this jet. The Factory needs to do a better job with making sure the trim sticks good. Flew mine three times yesterday at Mississippi Jet.

Nose leg on that gear does look long!
Your flap position in the photo is not enough for good breaking/drag.
The factory have had a stern talking to about the trim adhesion and Ripmax hope it will no longer be an issue.
One thing that has been found more than once is the U/C set screws are not always tight! I checked through my gear before installation, added flats to the nose steering tiller etc. Quite a few people presume (rightly or wrongly!) everything is drop in ready. I don't do that on any gear, so its worth checking. Ripmax are looking at a separate sheet to include to point out even more helpful checks.
I know they have been amazed how quickly this last batch has sold, next Europe batch is late June arrival, definitely going to run out way before then. :-(
