Hey Chris,
No, It was not my Euro but was my buddies and I was spotting for him. Pretty nasty mid-air, nothing left of the mirage and the euro was in pretty bad shape. Really would like to see the video to see exactly what happened.....

FentressJets.
I landed my friend viper jet without the right horizontal stabilizer. The whole thing broke off in flight with the servo
I should have received the holy crap award too.

FYI, the F-16 on afterburners was caused by a bearing and wheel failure. The high temp caused the tail pipe to collapse. Luckily all the fire was in the pipe and not in the fuse. Once I killed the engine, I headed to the grass for a wheels up landing. The engine is in the careful hands of RTI. The F-16 will fly again.

That's quite an achievement to get it safely back on the ground with one stabilize missing. Can you please try to describe how it happened? Hi speed, low speed, high G, mid air etc.? And how did the plane behave without the right stab? Reason for asking is that I have a viper my self.

Actually..... I saw the stab that came off the viper, a ball link was installed on the fiber control horn. This is a big no-no! Because this puts a side load on the horn instead of pulling evenly from both sides, the horn snapped under load and the elevator fluttered off the plane. Basimpsn did an amazing job of getting the Viper back in one piece on one stab!

I agree with you that ball links is not a good option on FG control horns unless you install two FG horns side by side with the ball between them. I use 3mm. Kavan metal snap-links on mine, so it should be OK.
Did it happened at very high speed??

Thanks guy. I was about to do a low high speed pass when I saw something fall off the plane to the ground. I thought it was the canopy.
I bank to the right to make an emergency landing. That's when i knew something was wrong. My right turn did not turn the plane the way it should. The jet started to go away from us. So i started to use the rudder and it started to come back in sight i drop the first position flaps and the jet started to go inverted and into a dive. I put back the flaps to 0, to level the wing and pull out of the dive. I got back control of the plane and i say "thats it i am not trying for the runway - anywhere is good". The jet landed close to the runway with only a bent strut. Glen and i went to take the viper back to the tent and was shocked to see what happened. The whole right side horizontal stabilizer tore off with control surface and servo. So to answer your question that's a good flying jet. If i knew what happened i would have given up a long time ago. (lov2flyrc we spoke to TAM and it seems the builder was at fault. Hey mike you did a good job with your F16 when your canopy fell off too.

Here's a few shots of Joe Grice's Pretty Penny with the new Snake-eye bombs that we tested out! Flew awesome and the bombs worked great! Nothing like getting in some practice for Top Gun.

I love the looks of the DV8R! I agree with John, I don't think a wheels up landing will be bad for the plane, but the servos will be another matter. Has anyone aggressively spun one yet, including trying to get flat (not too flat)?
