Hey Todd I have the FE F 16 Plus like yours. I did my COG and had to add significant weight to get it to 140mm with full UAT and down gear. About 350 grams in the nose. How much extra weight did you need to add???
Cheers,

About the same mate, but youll find the there is no effect on flying, remember the scale 16 is heavier than the standard so youll find with the standard weight is going to have to be added.

Todd,
When I trimmed my F16 there were no flaps but the undercarriage was down.
Your F16 when you trimmed for level flight it was with undercarriage down or up?
It seems that with undercarriage down it needs some uptrim to keep levelled flight.
And another question, did you have in yours the 3rd fuel tank of 500ml that is installed between the canopy and the engine hatch?
And the last question, what is your tanks configuration? Mine is that the third tank gets empty the last.
Regards
Vince

My F-16 fuel tanks had red stoppers and they didnt like fuel at all, I replaced them with dubro stoppers. The smaller tank is a bit*** to remove, other 2 were pretty easy to remove.
Bill Hatcher at troy built models is making a manual for the advanced. He'll post it on his website www.troybuiltmodels.com

" I think you are trying to changed the pung. It is not ncecssary to change it. It should be OK to use it. We have changed the material to be better than before".
So on that note will put them all back together in due course with original stoppers (brown in colour) fil the whole system up and leave for a few days.
FEJ wow quick service or what reference my different coloured tailplane (green shade) touch up paint being sent out with new canopy, door ram and centre fuel tank as this had three very slight stress factures around the stoppper.
Sad thing is im dying to make a start on this but due to other committments will be on hold for a few months, also toying with making this my first 2.4 model with all JR gear, turbine will be Wren supersport.
Great thread by the way, cheers guys for all the previous inputs

Vince,my 16 flew in both configurations and yes they needed trimming, I do not use a third fuel tank as I get 6 mins flying time with the main tanks and I have left about 500mil. I f you are going to fly flat out then you will suck fuel but I fly about 60% and do a couple of high speed passes.
If people do not have a third fuel tank and you have room up the front put in a bigger UAT tank.

Todd

Hello all,
I had the third flight of the F-16 on Wednesday. It was very good this time with no jumps and bouncing on the landing. On the landing it just slowed down on the runway touching the main wheels first and put down slowly the nose wheel.
In the flight I put up the wheels the first time. On putting the wheels up it was noticed a slight climb of the F16, this was corrected by some down trim and it flies very stable with the undercarriage in. Now I will start programming some mixers.
1. Mixer to put some uptrim when undercarriage is lowered.
2. Mixer to put some uptrim when flaps are deployed.
Basically I wish that there will be no trim difference when I deploy undercarriage or flaps.
The C.G at the moment is 150mm with the UAT full. For now I found that this C.G is the best, now I have more elevator response on the landing and can land much slower.
The runway I have is 180 meters with trees of 6 meters and a fence 3 meters high on the approach. It still took around 170 meter of runway to stop with breaks and about 8 knots wind. Fuel used was about 1.3liter in 5minutes flight powered by JetCat P-80.

how are you guys using flaps as the plane only has ailerons. Are you dropping the ailerons a little as flaps of are you using the elevators as tailerons. some throws of the flaps would be nice to know if you are just using them as both aileron and flap ?? bit confused

Rob,
The ailerons are used as Flaperons.
That is that they work as normal for aileron control but can also be dropped together for flap control, while still retaining aileron control.

Both of my 2 F16's are using the FEJ set-up with flapperons and seperate elevator control.
Aileron travel +/- 12mm (+ expo)
Flap tarvel 15mm
Elevator travel +/- 50mm (+ expo)
I'd like to see one performing with the tailerons, just to see how different it handles ?

Here are a few pics of my FE F 16 plus now ready for a maiden. Came in at 9.1 kg dry.
I recon I spent 50 hours on this thing. Jet central Falcon turbine if you are wondering!
2 weeks to Temora and maiden

My Feedback: (61)
I am flying my "Viper out "FE F-16 with ail and elevon mixed together so when the flaps are deployed the tailerons work with the flaperons. If you look at this recent thread you will see pics of my F-16 in action and the flap setting i am using. Turned up (170k) P-60 power mounted under the hatch using the supplied tailpipe.

You will almost always have a trim difference with flaps and/or gear down. You change the AOA on the plane by changing the surface/drag.

Do you know where I can buy the following for the F-16 1/8 standard?
1. Nose wheel olio
2. Nose wheel leg that holds the nose wheel shaft.
I had a hard landing and bent the nose wheel oleo and the leg.
Regards

Where is the elevators neutral position ?
Do you line up the trailing edges of the elevators with the speed brakes ?
thanks

Did anyone with an advanced F-16 1/8 have problems with the main landing gears not retracting fully ?
The right side main gear doesnt want to come up, I attached a picture showing the problem. The forward scissor strut joint is rubbing againsts the other strut while the gear is retracting and its causing a lot of friction which prevents the air cylinder from lifting the gear all the way up. The same thing is happening on the left side gear but there is less friction and the cylinder manages to push the gear all the way up however if the pressure in the system drops below 100 psi both main gears will not come all the way up.
I've tried to adjust every linkage to reduce the friction between both struts but that's just how the system is designed, the air cylinder is pushing on the aluminum block which in turn pushes down on the scissor strut, creating that friction between both struts...
I've tried to get that wheel to come up all day any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Sebastien
