Too be honest it is coming up to 2yrs since I built this Jet, so trying to remember!
Ok re-read what you wrote... the carbon deflector is under the lip of the bell mouth if you look at last pic you can make out the M2 cap head bolts I used to hold the two parts together also pic#5.
I think the only bits I trimmed off the deflector was on the top of each side where they come close to the two ali right angle brackets.

Finally managed to get the red paint matched on the Hawk
Two reasons I am repainting, one the carf stuff is not fuel proof you only have to buff with dry cloth and red comes off and secondly the main reason the paint scheme not been done right in the first place! plus I get rid of the mold line... ok 3 reasons.
The red has prooved to be not easy as anyone who paints will tell you. The CARF Display is a VERY bright red and typically bright reds are very translucent which means the base coat does matter. Well I usually use a Ti Green 2k primer which is very good but even in the pic this was tinted by 10% white 2k! you can tell the difference especially when you take it out of the sunlight. The right hand side has white primer which makes a huge difference. The guys at paints4u.com have spent some time on this finally having to manually mix taking out lots of orange and using a lot of very bright red tint! The small peice on the right is original red (cut out when fitting air scoops)
Second pic is top of nose which has just been redone, but it had light green Ti primer and you can tell the difference so this bit being rubbed down and done with white 2k primer before the red, then it will be exact match!
Also first time I have had 2k through my SATA mini jet 4 that I recently brought ... well impressed how it lays the paint on, pleased I brought it!

Hey Rich,
I tried scanning it and then printing it. It printed a tad smaller. I will email you the file anyway as it gives you the correct shape and you can enlarge it or let me know a better way.

Have been busy getting the rest of the fuz ready for painting, the front half is done now, so starting the back. Got rid of most of the blue and even though you can still see the design I have removed quite a lot of paint before I give it a light coat of 2K white primer.
Hopefully the back comes out as good as the front. One thing I did when building the CARF Hawk was to bolt on both jet intakes as I knew at some point I would repaint it, this makes it very easy to spray the intakes.

I'm assuming the plane is balanced with gear down but better to ask? Thanks. Also has anyone who has put the air scoops on, not cut holes in the fuse and have problems? I have some things mounted to the fuse right under where they would mount and I didn't really expect I was going to get the scoops as my kit was older and didn't include them but Andy Kane put the order through for them and they showed up about six weeks later. Thanks.

Yes, gear down-but my manual figures are "safe" so you can go back a little. Also ensure the Ailerons are level at the tip (ignor the flaps)
I fitted mine 3 years after it was built and in the "childish" rush to fit them did not make holes. They have been fine so far. Can you not even drill a 1/8" hole towards the back? Anything to reduce the pressure a little.

Thanks Dave.
I remember your tip in the thread about the ailerons being offset with the flaps when all are neutral but thanks for the reminder. I was thinking the same thing about getting any kind if hole under the scoop. I might be able to. I might just do it the right way and pull the tank to get in there and do a bit of relocating. Thanks again.

After some medical problems I am finally on the road to finishing up my hawk.
All that is left is to Set up the controls, Balance and put the finishing decals on.
I was going to put smoke in but did not think ahead and brought the wing cable out the top of the wing instead of through the front. Has anyone put their smoke tank in another area other then on top of the wing where the wires come out?
I really do not want to move the wires if I do not have to.
Here are some pictures of my install.
