Gus, just increase your acceleration and deceleration delays, you may also have to lean the start mixture.

is the turbine fuelline 4mm from the pump to the turbine inlet?

The pressurized 'out' line from the pump is 4mm, which goes into a 'Y' and then to the two fuel solenoids. The 'fuel' solenoid continues the 4mm to provide fuel to the turbine; downstream from the start solenoid there is a 4mm to 3mm connector and the 3mm fuel line goes to the start connector in the turbine. I have tried to attach a plumbing diagram, but not sure that it worked..

Gus

Ran my K-80F on test bench twice Saturday and was very pleased. I'm at 6600' MSL here in Colorado and I did not change any of the factory settings in the FADEC. Started fine and acceleration from idle to max RPM took six seconds.

Gus

Hi Gus, thanks for the good report, wondering if you could advance the acceleration delay a bit to try to get a better response. The idea is to avoid the growling noise from the engine upon spooling up, if you could hear it, you went too far, anything under that, you are safe to fly. Let me know if you aren't sure about where to go about dialing the acceleration delay.

Barry,
Thanks. Had to send my transmitter in for repair - the throttle trim is sticking at full up trim, which means I can't shut the turbine down - not good. When I get it back I'll check with you on tweaking the acceleration delay on the test stand.
Regards,
Gus

Got a strange issue with my K80F, about 6 months ago i put her on the bench learned how to work everything and had 4 or 5 successful starts. Finally today I was ready to start it in the aircraft for the first time and when she finally went to start I got a hot start.
Hit it with the extinguisher and aborted the start. waited about 20 min and tried again same thing. I go to try a 3rd time and notice its hanging at 3000 RPM and ignition on for over a minute, I figure something is not right and abort the start .
I try one more time and the same thing she hangs there for over a minuite at 3k RPM and ignition on on the HDT. I dont remember taking so long and im afraid to damage something, any ideas? Im using a 4000MAH 7 cell NIMH on a Tamjets F16

Ok finally got two good starts out of it, they still seemed a little wet, and still had some flames coming out, like the batmobile as it was earlier mentioned, but not to the point where Its hurting anything.
When it was on the bench it started totally clean no flame at all. Maybe it did have some flames on the bench but since it was outside during the day i couldnt see them, this time i was in my garage.
Also when I shut it down both times after the FADEC cooled it down it gave me the flame out message. I read the manual and that represented EGT to low. turn it off turn it back on its fine,
just dont remember if that message was normal after shut down?

Diesleman

Go in to the START on your data terminal and turn the FUEL RAMP Down. not sure what your setting is at but try 2 points to start with.

No

you need to find the parameter that says FUEL PUMP RAMP, and take it down 2 points.

what do you have the Engine min.Flow set at?

and FYI, the clicking is the FADEC regulating the fuel flow to the burner by opening/closing the solenoid valve not the igniter.

get on to Barry before you change any settings, the new ECUs with kero start have some different parameters to change for that, mines was doing the same thing, did some suggested adjustments from Barry and its Flame free now, 3 flights today and no more worries about burning the tail off.

you need to lean that out, take it down to 25% and try it, you might even have to go lower.

New to turbines, may have some stupid questions, but I can deal with being a n00b, been there enough times.

I'm installing a Kingtech 80 in my BVM Bobcat and I need to extend the MPX lead and the RPM & Temp lead, what is the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Luke

Luke, the best way is to move the FADEC and extend the radio and battery lead if necessary.

Great, thanks. It looks like it would be easy to lengthen the MPX lead, can I do this so that it is the same length as the RPM & Temp lead? It's just way to short as it is, the FADEC would be hidden in the fuselage behind the canopy if I leave it as is.

Thanks,

Luke
