If I'm not mistaken the reason is, the voltages of 4AA alkaline batteries is 6volts and 4AA rechargeable is 4.8volts the Venom fails low voltage cut off is set at 4.2 volts, so your really close to the safety cut off voltage, by using a 5 cells rechargeable hump pack you go back up to 6 volts. I've bean using a 5cells hump pack for a while now a never had a problem.

IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DESIGNS OF THE BATTERY THE FAIL SAFE IS SET TO A CERTAIN TWEEK TO BE ABLE TO SENSE THE LOW VOLTAGE OF A BATTERY BUT NIMH FOR SOME REASON IS DIFFERENT IT MAY WORK IT MAY NOT I HAD FOUND A READ UP ON IT SHOULD HAVE SAVED IT .BUT THAT IS MY OPPINION THE SPRING TO THROTTLE THING WAS A TEST IT ALSO MAY NOT WORK AT ALL TIMES IT WORKED FOR ME A COUPLE TIME BUT IT DEPENS WHEN THE SIGNAL IS LOST IF ITS TO FAR FORWARD THE SERVOE ARM IS TO TIGHT TO PULL BACK BUT I FOUND THAT THE STEERING KINDS OF GOES FUNNY WHEN SIGNAL IS WEEK.

NIMH ARE THE BEST ,THERE THE STRONGEST AND THEY LAST THE LONGEST ,the only thing is you cant charge them in the transmitter or reciever battery pack, you need an automatic charger that can charge either nicd and nimh both. OH AND O FORGOT TO MENTION ONE DRAW BACK ,THE FAIL SAFE ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR USE WITH NIMH,THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT.SPRING TO THE THROTTLE ARM FIXES THAT FOR ME.

ok im a newbie to the rc car world and i was wondering if it is ok to use rechargeable batteries in the reciever and transmitter ( e.g NI-MH).
As it says in the instructions for the radio to use alkaline batteries.
Thanks.

you should be good with ni-cads or whatever...
hmm ok, thanks very much for the info. Where can i get a 'spring to throttle arm' then?
Seems a bit strange why it wouldnt work with NI-Mh batteries though.

ok thanks,so the conclusion is......
failsafe dont work with NI-MHs?
or they do work but only sometimes?
its best to get a failsafe and a throttle return spring?
just get a throttle return spring?
use a hump pack and a failsafe?

The fail safe is definitely going to work with Ni-MH or Ni-cad if you have a 5 cell rechargeable pack (6v Ni-MH or Ni-cad) but you could have problem with a 4cell rechargeable set up (4.8v Ni-MH or Ni-cad)since the cut off voltage is close to the 4.8v pack.

You probably can get one at your LHS and get something like that. The SMC pack would be my first choice I've made some packs with those IB cell and the are top of the line for power and and running time.(my opinon)

If your looking for a decent charger get this one for the price you can beat it, I have two of those.

id say the best investment you could get is a 5 battery hump pack, as an-des said it is a high enough voltage to use a failsafe and you get good power out of them.
All i need now is to find a good enough charger to use. Or wait a while until i can buy the tower one.

is it ok to use rechargeable NI-MH 'AA' cells in the reciever and the transmitter?
for me it works out much cheaper to purchase 12 rechargeable AA cells and an AA cell charger. Each cell is 1300mAh.
Would this work?
Thanks

just got back from my sons first bash session with his new MT2, I did not get video of me finishing the brake in on my MT1 with .18ss. But I do have pictures of the drive cup I busted from the torque of the .18CV-RX.

Here is sons video.

Bah Putfile keeps erroring out on the upload.

Well here is pics of the busted drive cup while I figure putfile out. first 2 is the busted side, third is the other side that did no break. The last is the truck with shell. Look at the sexy head on the .18CV-RX

A little off subject. Is the 18ss kit that much better than the mt2 rtr? I am looking at buying one of the 2, not to race, btu to bash. I like that it has 4wd, and a stadium truck. I have MT's and was looking for something a little different. What about the Hellfire? is that worth almost doubel the price?

Thanks
Happy Harvick

Definately get the .18SS kit. The RTR has a weak motor and weak diffs.
