Sound pretty good and is Teflon base like the Dupont stuff. Wonder how much it cost? The Dupont lube I can get just about any hardware store and only cost about $5 for 8oz. I have all so been told a lot of bicycle shops carry so very similar Teflon base stuff used on chains. But anything has to be better then dirt attracting grease.

Hello, does anyone know what other bodies can fit on the MT2 other than the ones on Hpi's site. And could someone also measure from center to center on the wheel cut-outs please.

not too much has been happening. been busy with the army so i havent had alot of free time. im down to just 4 rc from my origional 11. been trying to weed out the ones i dont use so i dont have to pay extra for shipping when i come home to the states. got my custom cybermaxx, my fwo5t, my inferno 7.2, and a nexxus .30 heli. when i get back to the states im gonna start my new MT2. gonna go custom from chassis up. trying to stay away from actual cheap hpi parts. since i was last here, i have had 3 savage .21, one 4.6, and a savage x. I just sold the x because it was alot bigger than all the rest and i couldnt find a good way to put it in a box where i didnt have to worry about it getting broke when the army ships it home for me. upside to me selling everything is i have gotten about 5 more people into rc that never considered even looking at one till i made them drive one of mine
**and yes the women here are very beautiful. I really dont want to leave them, but i have one coming to the states early in 07 so we can get married. so far she is very supportive of my rc habit so long as i dont try to spend all my money on them.

Welcome back...one of the original members back makes it all the better. Soon we'll have all the old gang around. Korea hey, very beautiful women over there and R/C scene is ok too I think. I only spent a few weeks over there and it was cool.
Whats been happening in your RC world recently?
Good to see you back.

Mine is a cross bread has all sorts of parts on it. I have the X bulkheads so when I go to different tracks makes changing fluid easier if need be. Yes my brace all so has some play in it. I all so will tell you that the upper arm pins on the X are known to come out around the poor stops on the bumpers. You can either use a zip tie to hold the bumper mounts together or do what I did. I do not like the way the zip ties look so I took a couple lower pins and cut them to length and use the old bumper mounts.

Also, great idea about the upper arm shafts. I'll buy some bottom shafts and do that!
Man, the XSS looks awesome. Can't wait to have it up and running - the MT2's big brother! Just need a 1/5 Baja 5B to complete the family!

mtrchamp - Thanks a lot for the reply. I'll check out those links. Very helpful.
I'm 90% sure I'll be purchasing the MT2 late next week (as it's pay-day!) but it's worth coming onto a forum to gain valuable opinions from the people who use these things a lot.
I'll be buying the car from this website - [link=http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=25409&ref=w ww.kelkoo.co.uk]Model Sport[/link] which has quite a few accessories available for us UK'ers. I'm still reading lots of stuff about additional extras and replacements to buy for the car, but it's a lot of information to take in and I find myself getting a headache some days!

The teflon based stuff is great. I first learned about it racing mountain bikes and use it for everything.

Yeh that 2 speed is what I run in my truck. YOU WILL NOT WANT TO USE THE CLUTCH BELL THEY GIVE YOU.
I think those stock purple pinion gears are 18/22 which is pretty high up there. Also the stock spurs are 47/43 I believe.

I run this CB
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM729&P=7
and I run either 52/49 or 49/46 gearing with the .18 CV-R.
If you do want to use that clutch bell that comes with the 2 speed you will probably have to get the gold pinions which I think are 17/21 and probably have to run 52/49 spurs. I'm not sure the slots in the chassis are big enough to let you adjust the gear mesh though. I'm also not sure how much acceleration you will have. Top end will be crazy though if the motor has enough umph to get it up there.
Also a warning, the 2 speed has no slipper. When your clutch shoes are expanded and connected to the clutch bell EVERYTHING is connected. Just take that into consideration if you go off road or jump it.

The gearing it comes with will probably be to much gearing for that motor. It won't have much acceleration and won't be able to get to its max rpm. It comes with a 18/22 cb. Most everyone is using a 13/16 cb. That is a HUGE difference in gearing.

About an hour ago I got a notification of a PM that came over 12 hours ago much less all the replies to this thread. Would not by any means surprise me if it were bellsouth.net as I have had problems with them for years.
Thanks
Thanks

Not a problem. I feel your pain. I have time warner here and would get disconnected every couple hours. Have to wait for the modem to reset and wait for it to get a signal. sometimes taking hours. Eveytime I got through to them to check it they didn't find a problem. After enough complaining they replaced my modem which I requested. What do ya know...... no problems now.
questions for ya 46u,
can I put mt2 a-arms, knuckles and hub carries, turnbuckle set and hpi cvds on my mt1 without changing anything else? can i use mt2 shocks with the mt1 shock towers?

Who is your ISP? I have raised enough came with bellsouth.net in the last couple of years I go over $400 worth of credits in free service. I have even had a lawyer give me money back. Long stories!
I am sorry I cannot answer your questions as when I did my conversion to my MT1 I went with the MT2 shock towers, as I like the idea of the bumper on the front that the MT1 does not have but the MT2 does.

No you cannot change or need to change the upper deck or radio box unless you do a bunch of drill to run the MT 2 shock towers and so on. Matter of fact just about the only thing that is still MT 1 is the upper deck, radio tray as well as the slipper clutch housing but I am running the MT2 slipper clutch set up and the chassis. Here is some information that came off HPI web site back when they had a forum on it. Now I do recommend to run some of the SS parts over what they recommend in this article like the CVD.
While the Nitro MT 2 on the surface looks the same as the older Nitro MT, there are in fact a wide variety of changes and the difference between the two trucks is very significant from a "conversion" point of view, however a conversion can be done if you don't want to buy the Nitro MT 2 truck.
Upgrading your old Nitro MT to the brand new Nitro MT 2 can be done easily by purchasing just a few items. You can upgrade various parts of the truck one by one according to your budget, or you can upgrade everything at once!
Suspension
One of the biggest advantages the Nitro MT 2 has over the original Nitro MT is in the suspension. Longer front arms plus longer front and rear shocks provide a plush, smooth ride that allow the Nitro MT 2 to roll over just about anything. Upgrading the front end is easy you just need a few parts:
Front Suspension
85074 Suspension Arm Set (2 required)
85076 Front Upright Set
A280 Flange Shaft Set (use A284 3x30mm flange shafts)
Z242 E-Clips 2mm
Each #85074 Suspension Arm Set includes one front and one rear suspension arm, so you can upgrade your rear suspension arms at the same time. While the measurements of the rear arms are the same, they are much tougher and more durable.
To really upgrade the front suspension, you will need the longer front shocks of the Nitro MT 2. You can just move your Nitro MTs rear shocks to the front, since the front Nitro MT 2 shocks are the same length as the rear Nitro MT shocks. This of course would require you to get a new pair of rear shocks:
Rear Shocks
86168 Flange Shaft 3x33mm
Z224 Washer M3x8x0.5
A716 Sport Shock Set (77-117mm)
The new Nitro MT 2 shocks have an improved design, with a bottom cap that threads on and will not pop off when landing huge jumps. You can also get the front Nitro MT 2 shocks with the threaded bottom cap:
Front Shocks
A715 Sport Shock Set (70-103mm)
Front Bumper
While youre upgrading the front end and its all taken apart, you can go ahead and upgrade the front bumper to the new brush guard style bumper. This is one of the most prominent outward features of the Nitro MT 2 and does help protect the front end in crashes and tumbles. Here are the parts necessary to update the front bumper:
Front Bumper
85071 Shock Tower Set
85072 Lower Mount Set
85073 Front Bumper Set
Z571 TP. Binder Head Screw M3x20mm
Z567 TP. Binder Head Screw M3x10mm
Slipper Clutch
The Nitro MT 2 slipper clutch is a new design using Savage monster truck parts and is made to slip less than the older optional slipper clutch. The Nitro MT 2 slipper clutch includes a new spur gear, however you must use the drive cups from your Nitro MT.
New Slipper Clutch
87138 Slipper Clutch Set
Engine
An easy upgrade from the Nitro Star 15FE engine is the Nitro Star T-15 Engine with pullstart. This engine is much stronger than the 15FE and although many Nitro MT owners have put in .15, .18 or even .21 engines in their trucks, we will list the information for the T-15 here:
T-15 Engine
15101 Nitro Star T-15 Engine with Pullstart
Drivetrain
The Nitro MT 2 features thicker dogbones, which in turn requires larger drive cups, diff shafts and axles. All of these components have been strengthened on the new truck to make sure they can handle the power of the new Nitro Star T-15 engine. While it is possible to upgrade the drivetrain of your Nitro MT to the specs of the Nitro MT 2, if you plan to upgrade all the suspension and drivetrain components, it would be cheaper (and much easier) to purchase a complete Nitro MT 2 truck, which would give you all-new parts plus all the updates in one preassembled truck.
However, for the Nitro MT owner who wants to upgrade a little at a time, we will list the parts necessary to update the drivetrain of the Nitro MT 2:
Drive Train
86225 Cup Joint 7x19mm (D Cut)
86226 Gear Shaft 5x38x7mm (2 required)
86227 Diff Shaft 5x26x7mm (2 required)
86228 Axle 5x36x7mm
86229 Axle 5x41x7mm
86230 Dogbone 7x86mm (2 required)
86232 Dogbone 7x83mm
86233 Dogbone 7x57mm
86234 Cup Joint 7x19mm
