im in the military. I have CQ (charge of quarters). basically i sit at a desk all night and make sure people dont come in and out of the barracks that arent suppose to be here. keeps theft to a minimum and prevents unwanted assults.

46u - just a quick question (not actually related to the MT2)...

Just bought a Savage X SS Kit and am currently in the process of assembling it all. Have finished up the front rear bulkheads.....however the UPPER ARM BRACE (part #86048) has a small amount of movement on the shaft.

See photo..
Everything is done according to the manual - I don't see the movement as causing any trouble, but it does kind of rattle a little when the bulkhead is moved around. I know you've got a 4.6SS 46u and was just wondering if it is like this on yours?

Thanks.
--Matthew

Mine is a cross bread has all sorts of parts on it. I have the X bulkheads so when I go to different tracks makes changing fluid easier if need be. Yes my brace all so has some play in it. I all so will tell you that the upper arm pins on the X are known to come out around the poor stops on the bumpers. You can either use a zip tie to hold the bumper mounts together or do what I did. I do not like the way the zip ties look so I took a couple lower pins and cut them to length and use the old bumper mounts.

OK you will be about 160 or so miles from where I live. They have a really nice track in Savannah, which will not be to far from you. Savannah is a very neat old town.

Hi, I'm a new member here, from the UK. I've been researching the MT2 for a while now because I'm thinking of buying one. I scoured the pages of this epic topic but there seems to be a lot of mixed opinions on the car (what with the diff gears slipping on some people's cars, etc).

I'd like some fresh opinions as to whether you fine folk reckon it's a good idea to buy the MT2?

I'm a beginner at all this, although I do have a good technical knowledge of cars, etc.

dang.. there's a page and half of posts since I checked this thread at 7Am... lol it's 230pm now, haha...

46u...

I did the front suspension with my idea and just put a crap load of spacers in the rear.... or should I swap them instead?

what I did was I took some older traxxas springs (seeing how they are stiffer as is) and cut them equally in half, and ground them down even. After that I took the extra spring stay from the top of the old shocks I have and just put the two in there.... my digi cam is down so I can't get pics up... but if i get it working i'll deff post some pics...

Well sounds like your suspension will be STIFF. Sorry I like mine on the soft side as I do not like a lot of roll and bouncing. But heck you have nothing to loose and see if it works for you. Yes post pictures and let us know how it works.

first off, welcome and happy 1st post...

I recently got my MT2 and I love it, I haven't had any issues with it what-so-ever. I really like the 4wd, it helps a lot with the cornering and stability compared to other cars of it's size with only 2wd. Many people on here are going to mention that the stock motor is underpowered, the gears are plastic and it's better to upgrade to the metal ones, and that (in my opinion at least) the stock electronics ARE a little laggy compared to others...

but most of the time, people really like them, HPI has built several different cars off their standard 4wd shaft-driven base (ie, MT racer, original MT, RS4 18ss, RS4 3 evo, racer, and so on...). What i've found is that a lot of the parts from the drivetrain from my RS4 3 are compatible with the MT2, and vise-versa. A lot of people upgrade the engine, radio systems, gears, etc, but that's whats good about it, there are many parts availible... where I live (California) they sell it at my local hobby shop for around $300, a high cost for someone like me who is 17, has a part time job, and works, but it's AMAZING, other trucks that are similar to the MT2 go for about the same price, maybe more, and less...

if you want more info check out

A great site for Parts

and it never hurts to do a google or yahoo search either...

happy posting and have fun, we're here to help!

yea I know.... I want to get the blue springs and go 30-40wt shock oil... but i don't have chance right now to get to my LHS... I like it on the soft side, but mine is VERY soft, even doing a drop from about 2ft bottoms out the suspension...

mtrchamp - Thanks a lot for the reply. I'll check out those links. Very helpful.

I'm 90% sure I'll be purchasing the MT2 late next week (as it's pay-day!) but it's worth coming onto a forum to gain valuable opinions from the people who use these things a lot.

I'll be buying the car from this website - [link=http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=25409&ref=w ww.kelkoo.co.uk]Model Sport[/link] which has quite a few accessories available for us UK'ers. I'm still reading lots of stuff about additional extras and replacements to buy for the car, but it's a lot of information to take in and I find myself getting a headache some days!

Have you checked to see if the oil in your shocks is low?

Its a great car. I've had mine for about 8 months now and haven't had a single problem with it....obviously you still need to do some basic maintenance as you would with any nitro car, but its worth the while...

If you're just getting into Nitro, I would recommend getting the RTR version. The .15 (T-15) engine that it comes with is pretty quick if you have never had a nitro car before!

maybe you are priming too much fuel into it before you try starting it. Pull your glowplug and give it a few pulls, then put it back in and try to start it without priming.

Not sure what others are using to lucubrate there diff cups and so on but here is what I have found works best as it penetrates well and dose not attract dirt like grease as it dry after applying. All so seems to last longer then grease.
