Does anyone know if the carbon fiber vantage pipes have a big difference over the aluminum tuned pipes?

carbon pipes arent good, they dissipate heat which is needed for an exhaust system to work properly

hey guys, i was wondering what engines you guys are running in your mt2 these days

i have got an os 18 cvrx, what are you guys using
just ordered a cv-rx should arrive within 2 weeks, can't wait. How's yours treating you?

Edit: btw what is needed to do in order to get the engine up and running? Do I have to purchase any shims or anything in order to make the engine work with the 18ss?

Ello guys, nitro noob here, my 8 yr old son just got given an MT2, by a very generous uncle.....too much money....lol. Uncle bought it second hand, but never bothered to run it. I charged everything up, then tried to start it......problems!!!!!. I can start it eventually, and it runs on high revs, but motor cuts out during idle. set needle valve to factory settings, but idle screw.....no clue, as it seems to defy logic. Am not familiar with the workings of the internal combustion engine, but am learning fast....lol. I have noticed that the clutch bell isnt screwed in tight.....but the screw that it is holding it in, is as tight as it can get, but is 1/4inch short of dead tight. Surely this is wrong, as the bell seems to ring as i am trying to start up. Maybe the screw is too long for the hole.
Another thing that i have noticed, is that when i have the car on blocks, with the engine running, only three wheels turn....until very high revs. Is this a prob with the diff????
I would love to get this stuff sorted, as my son(ahem), is bustin to get out there........lmao

what engine is it. with the engine off hold 3 wheels and TRY (dont force it) to turn the one thats seems to be a bit off if it clicks and pops the diffs bad and swap out with the Heavy Duty gears. U can also loosen it a bit I had that problem once but i had overtightened the wheel nut to much

Well DJHeptic I tried your ideas and the bloody thing is still the same!!! I popped a new glow plug in it to start and tried that. No difference so then I put on the new 100cc fuel tank and tried again. The bloody thing will just not stay running for longer than a few minutes. The guy in the model shop checked the compression yesterday and said that it was fine so now I am back to square one and after some more ideas as to what it could be. Its got to be an air leak somewhere hasn't it?? Where are the most common places for theses stupid engine to get an air leak from?? And what exactly on the engine should be sealed with high temp sealant because there does not seem to be sealant on anything from what I can see.

Crockski if you look at the fuel line in and there are air bubbles in it you have a presure leak in the system and it will be hard to start and keep running. [] Another place to look seeing as how its been setting is the glow plug. Replace it even if you don't think its bad just for peace of mind As for the problem with the bellcrank moving I'm afraid you have some bad bearings or its been disassembled and not been put back together properly. It should spin freely but not be able to move in any direction. Use lock tight on everything that is screwed in because if you could buy a vibrator as good as these RC cars you would be a happy man [:@] Don't use sealant on anything period. If it takes a gasket and it leaks, replace the gasket Good luck m8 [:-]

Thats very strange adam, All i can suggest now is sealing the heatsink with gasket sealant. But evan better get a new engine, the t-15 is aload of junk!. Have you set everything to factory settings? Are you using a temp gun to tune?

Cheers lads, its a stock MT2, T-15 with rotostart. The fuel tank has a priming button, which i understand is susceptable to air leaks. I've tried checking for air in fuel pipe, but its difficult to see due to colour of pipes, can't see any bubbles though. I've tried two new glow plugs, to no avail.
I think its time for a little dismantling......lol. Just hope i can put it back together again, without any bits left over......
What parts would you recommend i upgrade, may as well hop up while its in pieces.

Straight after the engine stalls check the fuel line, see if you can spot small air bubbles in the fuel line, if there is that means it is the primer on your tank leaking. Allow air in to the fuel line will cause the engine to lean out which, in theory will cause it to over-heat and stall. I would not dismantle the engine unless you are 100% sure you know what your doing. I would start with the basics first like fitting a primerless 100cc tank first, this could sort your problems out. If this fails then i would seal the engine head gasket with gasket sealent. If your looking to upgrade parts on your car firstly i would suggest you get a FAILSAFE i would also get the gpm/edit steering knuckles as the plastic ones are very weak and cause you to loose screws. Another good investment would be a fuel filter & a high performance air filter.

EDIT:- Also check your MANIFOLD screws, The smallest ammount of play can cause problems.
