drill the screw out one size smaller than the threds and chase it with the correct size tap.it alluminum.it shoulnt be a problem.worst case drill the diameter of the busted screw 0ut and fill the hole with jb weld and retap to the correct size.if you have accses to a lathe you can make it perfect.i did one on the end of a crank and it gave me no problems. i did that by hand with a drill. use a little macyverism, you will get it.

jurry rigging is not the method I'd prefer to use. While functional, I'd rather by some new and better quality pieces that will not crack or require mild machine work to be installed....

OK guys, couple of questions about the old mt(1):

One, I need new motor mounts. I broke a screw off in the old ones(don't ask, I was not paying attention that days....). Where can i obtain some new ones that will work?

Two, is there a difference in the CVD's for the MT and MT2? I'd like to replace the forward and rear drive links but am not sure

Upgrade parts- now has an MT2 center diff kit, will soon have a cs70 servo on the steering and a hs311 on throttle/brake. stock essentially everywhere else. I need a new front shock tower, and probably new rear shocks, so I'm thinking it might be time to bring it up to snuff with MT2 specs. I did just put titanium turnbuckles on it however....are those the same or different between the two platforms? I see lot's of people now running metal center diff cases...worth it?

Also curious about an aluminum top plate/radio tray. it seems like, though a bit heavier, it would simplify the radio installation and be simpler in general to work with....

thanks for the help.
Motor mounts are easy - go to ebay or your local shop. The driveshafts on the MT2 fit smaller output cups. The newer truck had all of that beefed up. I assume when you mean centre differential that you mean slipper clutch. Most aluminum is pointless to put on since it just adds weight and makes the truck weaker in a lot of ways.

I got mine almost up to MT2 specs only thing left is the center gear(got 2-3 months to get around to it till I can run it anyways). The differences in a mt1 to MT2 (coming from someone thats replaced pretty much everything). Arms are a little bit longer (about 2-3 mm's) the MT1 dogbones will fit but will need fuel tubing. The shocks are longer and attach to the wheel hub instead of the arm. Shock towers are a fair bit different. Body mounting posts are different also, radio tray is better, fuel tanks a different shape, theres a difference of 4 holes in the chassis plate (you can drill new holes), the chassis plates a bit thicker also. all the turnbuckles are a different size they are a tad bit longer. I'd look on ebay you can usually find all the parts for around $80-100 total from new MT2's people parted out.
As for the center gear case in metal its more for looks than anything else, I personally wouldn't bother unless you get it dirt cheap.

I recently bought an os .18 tz_tx.I want to break it in on my mt 2,and posably keep it on depending on the results. It sure sounds like it has pleanty of power from what I have read. My question is what header should i use that will fit the mt 2.I have plenty of pipes to try.I just want a decent header with out breaking the bank.Any help would be great.
Thanks,Darren.

p.s. I think the sportwerks .26 i was going to put in it would have been overkill with a lot of gear repairs.

Looks nice and fresh. Changing the motor out before leaving the shop is a pretty hard core thing to do. Enjoy it!

know how that feels.
Built a BL buggy from scratch a few weeks back and have yet to test it due to the weather (well I did try testing it but couldn't get it to drive straight due to there being no traction on wet/icy pavement). What royally sucked was the one day it was nice out, and the ground dried up I had to work, than it snowed again the next day...

i just dont buy too many new cars. this is my 3rd mt. my first one was brand new but i made a stupid trade for a beat up novarossi motor cause i didnt know any better. my second one was used and abused so i didnt even play with it. and now this one brand new. i got this one cause i missed my first one so i will be sure not to get rid of it. aside from this car i think i only bought 2 or 3 other ones brand new.

Yea I usually will buy used unless I find a deal
things I bought used
MY 2 MT1's made one into a MT2, and the other into an electric (currently redesigning it from scratch).
My Savage X

Bought new
Tamiya DF-02 (hell a used one cost almost the same price )
Jammin X1x couldn't beat $320 shipped with a motor and all, where used rollers were going for $200+
Losi MHR it was cheap

Other:
My 1/10th buggy with hand made chassis, and a pile of new and used parts so no idea how to classify it

Think I might build a RS4 on-road car out of my spare MT1 parts for fun after I get done with my next 2 projects seeing I'll only need 2 diffs, shock towers, and maybe shocks. I already have arms from an original belt driven RS4, and a couple other parts.
next project after my MT1 electric redesign I'm buying an electric airplane kit I figured out a decent starter rig for around $160 and kind of want to dabble with the sky RC's

don't worry about it.
I got an old RS4 I'm gutting for the arms and shocks. I also have a shock tower set laying here somewhere from another mod I did to an RC (I hate it when you need one tiny piece off a damn parts tree). The on-road MT1 conversion plans only in the infancy of being thought up actually, and probably will not be bothered with due to not actually having anywhere to drive it. I busted an MT1 front arm on my street its so bad with potholes so driving in the streets out of the question . Honestly my savage even sometimes has issues with my street, I've seen dirt roads in the boonies that were smoother and better made than my street
Or thinking I might convert my jammin X1 RTR buggy to truggy. (I've yet to even drive it and already thinking make a truggy)

its called a MT2 at that point seeing the only big difference was the arms, shocks, towers, bumper, and dogbones :P

one question you are adding a wing right?
Cause without one it is never going to hit past 1/3rd throttle by my guess without trying to imitate an airplane and launching off the ground.

you also might have to custom rig a wing to the front kinda like a F1 racer or something to make enough down force to keep the front end down.

Just Joined The Bandwagon..My MT2 will be here Monday! Any driving suggestions or tips for breaking my motor? I curently have a XXXNT but this is going to be my first time being the 1st owner of a nitro vehicle and I have never driven a 4x4 vehicle excepts a Traxxas 4Tec. I'm So Amped..
I'm going to give my XXX-NT to my lil brother so he can join me for some bashing...How do you think my MT2 will perform against my XXXNT? It has a OS .12 CVR-X in it now.

congrats on joining the MT2 club
Personally I usually use HPIs break-in instructions on small block engines it seems to work fine. Only slight mod I would do is make sure to mark your flywheel when your engines at Bottom dead center so you can line the mark up to make sure the pistons at the bottom of the shaft when ever you stop the engine.
