I only had to file the seam back a little. Then it fit right in after some wiggle.
I got the orange covers. I thought that they would look good with my body.
I will take some pics tommorow and post them up.

kingtuts, jamxx, thanks for the reply. How long should you go with the fuel line? I have tried using a 12 inch fuel line on mine , and it doesn't die as often now even upside down. the only problem is, once it starts to run, that is the time the negine dies. first it bogs down when you pick it up , then after a couple seconds, the engine dies. any solutions to this?

10 to 12 inches is a good length. it sounds like ur lowspeed needle is to rich. will it idle with out any throttle? cuz what happens is if the low speed is to rich the fuel will build up in the engine if it idles for a while. u can blip the throttle when its upside down to keep the fuel from building up. and try to lean ur low speed needle a lil bit see if that helps.

Actually the swap to the two speed is extremely easy! Probably the hardest part is getting the stock clutchbell off which is quite simple. However it is kind of a pain to adjust the shift point while running because you have to line up the hole in the spur gear cover with the correct hole in the transmission which can sometimes be agrivating. But very important! make sure to use threadlock on the set screw that holds the shaft in place, not the adjusting screw of course, because it WILL come out and it will not shift which caused me to hunt endlessly for other problems because it is hard to see that the screw is missing. And don't doubt HPI's advise to use it for street only, I didn't have problems with durability as they say you will, but the performance in tall grass or the most minor of non-track off-roading is truly depressing considering it is a 4wd truck. Which I guess could lead to durability problems but when I had it on there, there were no such problems for me.

I really don't think that the 2 speed is necessary for this truck. Seriously, guys, if anyone wants a new pipe, try that Traxxas one out. Such an improvement over the composite one they include, though your truck gets a lot louder. I like it, though, it resonates more and sounds deeper and more realistic. I noticed earlier that the picture they show on Tower doesn't have the mounting bar that I actually used, so I would get [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDDU1&P=RF]this[/link] if you want to get the pipe just in case. Also, I used a different screw to mount mine. Here's a brighter picture of my setup (all I did was increase the brightness and contrast on the old one) that I used to mount. As you can probably see now, I have a longer screw put in (unfortunately it wasn't countersunk, but it only sticks out a little bit and is close enough to that spur gear protector that I don't think it'll hit the ground even when going over rough terrain) and another nut (that didn't actually fit the bolt) closest to the chassis, then I had the mounting bar, and then I secured it with the correct locknut that it came with. It works really well and holds the pipe really well, although the pipe sits just a tad bit crooked. It isn't enough to matter, though.
I promise I'll get that video up sometime soon. As promised by the weatherman, today is supposed to be partly cloudy down here in B'ham, so it's still bright. My video camera is charging right now!

That's the T-Maxx Performance Pipe. Here's a link: [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSP47&P=RF]click here[/link].
I got the video! I'll post it in a few minutes. [8D]

Anyone know of the easiest way to swap out the clutch bell? After looking at it, looks like I may have to pull the whole diff out?
Thanks

Well, it seems that I cannot get into Putfile right now... So I suppose we'll just have to wait a while for it.
Don't expect much, now, I didn't have anyone to hold the camera...

Anty,
It's easier to pull the engine - but you'll have to pull something to replace it.
Jamxx:
I agree about the 2 speed. I don't think they are really needed for the MT2, but allot of people want to put one on. I would try, as you suggested, getting the most out of the engine before trying more gears. I have a THS Exaust on mine and it is well worth the money. On the header I took time with a dremell to match the header to the port to reduce resistance. The stock composite one is not all that good.

Yeah, I realized the stock header isn't all that great, but I didn't feel like taking the time to replace that as well. This was meant to be a temporary switch, but now I'm not so sure
. Anyways, when I get my O.S. .18 CV-RX engine back for my T-Maxx, I'll have to either pick up a new pipe or order one (which is the most likely thing I'll do in the long run) or use the one that came on the MT2. And I really don't want to do that since I now know what a difference it makes. My dad, who really enjoys watching my MT2, wants me to get a 2-speed I think, because he keeps saying, "That thing would be really cool with a 2-speed!". Don't think so, in all honesty. And that's just another thing to adjust and worry about. I think I may convert my T-Maxx into a one-speed if I even have a hint of trouble with it. Haven't so far.
That could change though.
Also, with that pipe, it almost exactly matches the size of the old one, including length (this one's a bit shorter), width, and the size of the opening that goes near the header, so I didn't really bother changing anything. Still runs great, though, and I'm very pleased with it. I don't have a road big enough around me to really open it up (I don't have it going full speed in the video either) except for one street that is rather laden with traffic, so I don't want to try it there. I'll head over to a nearby church parking lot sometime and get one of my friends to tag along to man the camera and we'll see what it can really do. In the video, it's running a bit rich too.
I'll keep trying Putfile throughout the day. It keeps saying that it's timing out when trying to get into the site. Don't really know what that means. Oh well...

Okay! Well, I found another site that let me put a video up on it. It's called ZippyVideos.com. Unfortunately, I had to make a lower resolution video so that it could slide in under 5 megabytes, but it is still there. If you would like, I'll check back on Putfile every so often and when it is back up, I'll repost the better one. Here's the link: [link=http://www.zippyvideos.com/89010563662035.html]click here.[/link]
Hope you like it!

Yeah. In the video you really can't see the speed, and I couldn't open it up all the way there. It was around 3/4 throttle on the fastest pass on there.
I actually did get the chance to see what it could do today, because I went a few blocks down to a street that I thought may be long and flat enough to see what it could do. Just barely! But I did get it to a point where the engine just plain topped out, and boy did it! Even with a lean setting with the stock pipe, it won't get to the RPM's that it does with this one.

The tires on it? They're the stock ones!
Thanks.
One question though. I was running my MT2 just a few minutes ago and noticed that my right-front wheel was askew. Upon closer inspection inside, I noticed that the CVD had popped out and the wheel hub was missing the bottom allen screw. Luckily, I had some Traxxas allen screws that were identical except for length, so I sawed off part of the Traxxas screw with my trusty Dremel Tool
. Well, I put everything back on and everything was in order, but how tight are these screws supposed to get? All four of them (two per front wheel hub) aren't tight at all. They're snug, but I could very easily tighten them more. Is this normal? I can't get them any tighter and I don't want to try because I'm afraid they'll strip.
Thanks.

well i want them stock tires. i thought they were dirthogs. the screws arent gettin tight becouse ur screwin into plastic and there already stripped. i just put a fatter screw in mine cuz they would just vibrate out. the best thing to do is get aluminum knuckels.
