no problem, if you get the chance, post a pic of your car with the shell on, as I'm courious as to where your filter is in relation to your shell

With your engine off, when you spin the wheels does your engine turn over as well? If so your clutch is locked up and that would explain your problem.
If not I'm going to guess that your shoes are dragging a bit and that your idle is set a little too low. Try trimming between 1/16" and 1/8" off the end of each clutch shoe. That will lighten them up a bit and cause them to engage at a higher rpm. Either that or you could try to find a stiffer clutch spring to do the same thing.
Once your clutch is free you can finish setting your idle.
Enjoymentboy

RE: Official Smartech Thread
Honestly I doubt that this engine is really any better than what you have now.
Are you looking for higher speed, better acceleration, longevity, ease of tuning, parts availability...?
Any .12 sized engine will fit as long as it has the same cranckshaft type (threaded or sg). If you want a great all around engine that will last, will be easy to tune, make you go faster and accelerate faster and be easy to get parts for AND is cheap you really can't go wrong with an OS 18cvr. You REALLY should go up on the gearing if you go that route though. That will give you VERY high speeds.

The tires are glued onto the rims (and new ones should be too, otherwise the tires will slip and/or fall off the rims while driving). If you wish to ATTEMPT to get the old tires off the rims the best method is to place the tires/rims in a pot of boiling water (yes your gonna cook them) for sometimes as long as 30 mins depending on the glue used. This helps to disolve the glue and dry out the tires, making it possible to remove them. even with this, don't expect them to come off easily, and if the rims are chromed/painted, expect the coating to be removed in some places.

As for shocks, not sure, as I have stuck with the stock ones thus far and have just used different weight shock oils in the absorbers. As for tuned pipes, I have a traax single chamber pipe with HPI front facing header.
murphisno...
Haven't done this (so someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I see the best way as buying a pre-assembled 2-speed gear box & clutch bell. Not sure if you'll need anything else. Might just want to see if you can find a 2 speed shell for sale on ebay, as it might be cheaper.

RE: Official Smartech Thread
I just got a new winner sport 3. I spent 2 hours trying to start it, and then started to go crazy changing the settings of all 3 carb screws, high, low, and idle. I finally got it started for about 5 seconds and the engine was wound out like crazy and the tires were spinning like mad. Can someone give me some suggestions as to how many turns out (from all the way in) I should set the screws to get it started and stay running for a minute, so I can get to tuning it? THANKS!!!!!!!!

1) on the controller, make sure the throttle trim adjustment is in the middle position
2) idle screw: with car on and brake applied, opening of throttle plate should be no more than 1-1.5mm, just enought to keep the car running.
3) high needle: 3 turns from the fully closed position.
This will get you started.
