im running

original 52t spur
and 15t on the motor
cen diffs witch is pinion 9t and ring 26t
then i use 7" goliath tires
and this high gearing is possible because im running brushless. but stock tires 12t cb and nitro motor with good torque shouldn't have any problem driving the cen diffs

believe it or not with all this power and high gearing im still running the original dogbones original drive shafts and center diff but i went through pile of rings and pinions until i got the cen diffs even the lightning stadium diffs could only last for few minutes or less

mr snuggles- how are you making out with the threaded front hinge pins? i am doing this mod however i found some 4 x 92mm titanium turnbuckles which are perfect length and threaded already.

as they are soft stainless i have had to replace them now and then after a crash but no problem as i have lot of extra stainless material but the good thing is that the rear arm brace does no longer strip out the screws when i crash

please throw in a link for those turnbuckles as id like to get a pair of them

also it is enough to only use them on the front as im still using original at the back without problems

can anyone tell me how the hellfire tranny works. do both front and rear tires have to be on the ground for the truck to move? can the truggy wheely?

The center diff makes it difficult to get the truck to wheelie. you need to put thick diff fluid, 30,000 and up, or lock the diff altogether in order to get it to stand up. Otherwise once the front wheels start to lift the diff will unload the extra power to the wheels with less traction.
Hope that helps.

what was the reason behind this design? Better handling and control? an easy way to deal with regular tranny problems from torque?

The center diff makes the truck turn better. Instead of the standard 2 diffs, most truggies have 3 diffs. Its more about handling and for racing. If you are just bashing you can do without the center diff. I put 20,000 diff oil in mine and its handling a little better the way I like it. I might try 30,00 and see what happens.

Iam about to put in 100k in the centre for bashing. Should increase straight line speed but will get harder to control. I will let you no if i notice alot of difference. I have previosly used 5/10/3, 5/10,7,3/7/2 and currently have in 7/20/7.

If you are just bashing I dont think its going to affect control that much. It should definitely increase the speed though. Definitely post up if you notice a big difference.

mr snuggles this is what i bought, the only thing is you need 1 left hand threaded nut and one righty. also you have to put it in a drill and run against grinder to grind off center hump

the grub screw in the side of the barrel I assume. Think the manual shows that being screwed in after assembly of the internal gears. Its to get the small locking shaft through the side of the outdrive cups which the small gear is then placed on

I like them. They seem to hook up pretty well on everything but snow.

i'm getting ready for some speed test

and yes it really needs the wheelie bar as it can do a wheelie at any speed until motor maxes out the rpm's

WOW! that wing in the front looks really weird, but cool. Never seen that before

How does it handle with it on?

im not sure how it handles yet as i still haven't sent my speed controllers to be repaired as they went up in smoke.

but i know that it will handle better than before as the front tires were slipping too much before. plus it would wheelie too much at high speed

those speed runs were done before i put on the rear wing. so the problem is mainly TOO MUCH POWER lol

sorry not a speed video but you can clearly see how the front end will lift at any speed

you can also see i need a hair cut
