I wouldn't waste my money on that box. This is known to be a very good box, can't beat the price nor the size of the unit.

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
I had an awesome day at the track today. Before the first qualifier i gave it a little more camber all round but my steering servo just wasnt up to it, costing me time through the tighter spots. I bought an ACE-DS1015 of the parts guy and boy did that make a difference. What a weapon of a servo, its super fast and has mountains of torque for my ST-1. My problem then was over-turning lol but i soon settled it in . I missed the second qualifier cause i was still doing the screws up from the servo swap but in the third i was starting to get right on it. The track was very dry and dusty and the stock tyres were no match for the LRP crime fighters that most were running but i managed to make the B main out of around 30 truggies. Then my starter box burnt out in the pits right at the start of the B final My dad in all his wisdom decided to put a 15v battery in there and it gradually burnt the motors out. Well i guess a new starter box is first up before new wheels then lol
PS: if you want a kickass steering servo for cheap, buy an ACE DS1015. FREAKIN AWESOME

I tried 20 & 30% Odonnels and found both too sticky.
I switched to 30% Trinity and now Im back to 20% trinity. I know you shouldnt change the % that often but I had problems with engine temps being too high so after talking with several people I gave the 30 a try with no luck.

Fuel is made up of 3 major components, generally in the folllowing order of volume:
1. Methanol
2. Nitromethane (nitro)
4. Lubricating oil(s)
The "sticky residue" you feel is a coalesence of the spent oil(s), and generally the stickier it is, the higher the content of castor oil in the blend (castor oil is an excellent lubricant). The stickieness is messy, but esily cleaned off by spraying with Simple Green, let it soak a couple of minutes, and then rinse or sponge off. The good thing about the pain-in-the-neck sticky residue is that you know your engine is receiving good and adequate lubrication. Personally, I'll deal with the residue for the peace of mind that my engine is receiving the lubrication it needs, and that also means longevity. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that a sticky residue after running is a good thing, not a bad thing.
In all cases, regardless of the fuel used, make sure at the end of the day of running that you apply after-run oil to your engine, turning it over a few times by hand to work it into the bearings and/or bushings, cylinder, and crank.

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
Anyone done the steering mod? I am debating to order the red BB ackerman plate but heard the stock one on the RTR works fine if you have a good steering servo. Anyone got any insight?

Hey Jombo how come you didnt grind the ends off the ackerman plate so there was only one hole left? Just wonderin, Im just gonna use the stock ackerman plate, I dont see the BBs makin a huge difference, rather save the $20 bucks and put it towards a dremel which I need!

RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
yeah get a dremel first then do the mod.
I am seriously considering getting the rtr alum. plates for my pro.(cause they are gray) and then they would match the engine head for the engine i want to get.

Im afraid to even put a roto start on this engine. Its still so hard to start that the roto start would either break the OWB or the roto plate. I guess Im going to have to just get the starter box. I liked being able to just take the glow igniter and go without having to carry a rotostart or a starter box around.

I know I've posted this a few times before, but I have the TTR roto start on my ST-1 and I works grate. You can even you a cordless drill if you want more power to turn the engine over.

Yeah, i'm gonna run those stockies till the foam shows. Has anyone used the rotostart? I have one, but i haven't installed it. i was told not to use it til after break-in. Now I have heard some people say not to use it at all. Comments?

The roto start kicks butt! I've been using it since I took the car out of the box. No problems.
