I agree with the previous comments. Using a heat gun definitely helps at the beginning with the pull start. The biggest annoyance with the pull-start is trying to get the cover in place after the car is started.

I recently switched to the roto-start which makes things very nice. In hind-sight I probably should have put the $28 towards a starter box, but the roto-start is very nice, easy, and compact. I'm keeping my finger's crossed that I don't blow out my one-way bearing.

BTW, does anyone know which one-way bearings are compatible with the ST-1 RTR engine?

Hey guys,

My ST-1 one is acting funny.... After about 5 minutes of running it, it start to stick on full or half throttle. My Servo seems to be working fine. I think it may be my clutch or is there a possibility that it could be the linkage what do you guys think, has this happen to any of you? oh yeah, everything is still stock.

Your probably on the right track pull your clutch and take a look at it it. Also make sure your linkage is not binding.

well the linkage is fine, i actually adjusted it so that it didn't bind. I'll take a look at the clutch later today and I'll also try what madmax suggested. could be the switch but the only thing that tells me it's not it, is the fact that I still able to steer. I'll be posting my finding later. thanks for your advice guys

ok, I took the clutchbell off and noticed that my clutch looked somewhat worn. the clutchbell has evidence of over heating too. I'll post pics tomorrow.
How many of you have upgraded clutches and what are you using?

here are my clutch shoes pics... they look worn and burnt compare to all my other shoes. I have sanded them now and smoothed them out.

Try something else probably. I like my st-1 but for racing there are more competitive trucks out there.

Be sure the screws in the rack are snug, and that you have a fully charged 6v 5-cell NIMH pack.

Not enough servo power. Friend had the same problem. See the receivers have a BEC which downs the voltage received through the Battery line in to 4.8v from the better 6v which makes the servo perform amazing. So the alternative route is to purchase a Y harness adapter and plug it into either Ch1 (steering) or CH2 (throttle), and plug both the servo and battery power on the same line.

good way to see if doing this will make any performance difference simply jump power to the Channel for throttle and try steering and see if its any faster.
