the knuckle screw falls out of all cars if you don't locktite or use a nut. i chose to use a nut cause its easier to remove if i have to, i won't strip a screw in a rush. the proline mt foams fit the stock wheels/tires perfect, i'm not sure about tires though as hobao uses different wheels, they fit on like buggy wheels. the switch on the 8.5 box is in front on the side right below where the tray screws on, it comes with a cover in the box, once you install the switch you can see where it goes easy. the push comes from the set up, with small adjustments it can go from oversteer to understeer, i just don't want to over do it.

I thought and was told the push was the spider diff but once I went to Losi LPR rims with holeshots my push went completley away!! I did nothing else.

Wish I could race[
] All the races around here are on saturdays at all the nearby tracks. I work on saturdays and it sucks. I raced one time at a night race and did very well but afterwards found out it would be the last night race. My LHS I go to right now has a track at his house and will be racing on sundays only very soon
and I go there everyweekend to run on the track and cannot wait to start racing.
I am actually starting to build a track on my property right not for me to mess around with!!

Ok so what rims work for the ST I found some Proline bowties the LRP (low pro file) tires and they include foams I need to know if these will fit the ST wheel I like the look of the ST wheel and would like to stick with them.
are there wider hubs too availible????
I think I will do the battery box mod that Wrat did looks super clean like the extra cf piece to fill in the gap between the servo tray and box.
Man one more day and my buggy sells and 2 days before the auction closes on the ST man I freaking out I think I will just hit buy now and take the $20 extra hit so I will have it by next weekend to start my build can't wait have a club race on the 26th and I need some truggy driving practice never raced one before
I told my LHS owner about my wanting to get a ST he just laughed and said wait until you need parts man typical LHS guy man there is a ton of stuff on ebay and its cheaper to boot. I just smiled and said oh well but he knows I'm a ebay freak think he might even get mad at me because I don't buy everything from him LOL but man I needed a bearing for a motor today (could not find one anywhere on the net) and he hit me for $20.00 for a engine bearing OUCH! anyways I can't wait to get my ST it will be my first truggy kit build hope I do it right
Hey whats this about drilling the pistons does noy Hoboa offer different size pistons for the ST and if I have to drill them what size drill bit do I use???
And thanks for all the guidence guys this is why I love this sight so much good people who love the same things I do and love to just have fun

The diameter of the ST wheels is the same as the LPR's but I tried to the LPR's on my ST pro wheels and they will not fit. The lip of the rim is different than the lip of the tire and will not fit in. I am sure you can probably cut the tire to fit but I did not want to do that so I bought the Losi LPR rims. Also the st rims are a 1/2" wider than the LPR rims and tires and the tire looked it it would stretch a bit due to the extra width.

Got the Go Tech 5 Port Turbo yesterday. I have ran about 1/4 gallon through it so far. It looked pretty good at practice last night. I am running the 13t cb and the 007ht pipe. I need all the torque I can get on our track. I will be racing it today and will post update later.
p.s.
I talked with a Mugen guy and he suggested I put 20k in my center diff. I only had 30k, so I am going to try it out. I have 7k/30k/3k (spider diff). Hope I did not make a big mistake.

no mistake, i think the thicker the better in the center. i stripped one of the big gears inside the cneter diff, switched it but only brought 7k to the track and the truck handled like jello, the front end was ballooning big time and it was slugish to take off, also the back end was looseer. i'd do the 30k with a drop of 10k to slim it a tad, or 30k may be perefect. next i'll try 20+k in the center 10-15k up front and 3k rear, our track is tight and technical with tight jumps.

I am currently running:
10k in the center 7k up front and 2k rear, any advise on this setup, I have quite some ballooning on the front wheels as well.
Is a diff oil lighter then 1K recommended? or is 2K the thinnest one should go?
I currently have:
Mugen Seiki 2K, 5K, 7K, 10K and 30K that should be enough choice right?

The Go Tech .21 ran like a champ today. It has more than enough power for a truggy. I'm running it with the 13t cb and 007 pipe. Our track layout requires a lot of torque. The engine has a smooth power band and has excellent mid range power. Also, I changed my diff back to 10k in center before the race. 30k would have been a little much. I ran 7k/10k/3k today. This set up was fine but I will be changing it to 10k/15k/7k. I think this will be the ultimate setup.

I also read alot of you use 600 or heavier shock oils with the pistons drilled, I currently run Mugen Seiki #400 with the pistons undrilled.
I find the suspension quite harsh it could be a bit more plush.
What oil should I run when I drill the pistons to 1,4 > Mugen #500, #600 or #700 ?

Sorry for asking, but what does drilling the pistons mean?
I'm a bit worried about my shocks.. Filled them all up with 60wt, and yet the truck kind of sags as if it had lower wt oil... Are the springs just too soft?? Are there stiffer springs available?

I got my Kit about a week ago still didn't have time to setup new years parties ect; but, it came with a spider diff and I live in California most are tracks are dusty loose dirt clay ect. I heard that the spider diffs are more for grass and racing in Europe and what not ... soo my question is what is the main difference between the Stock and Spider Differentials??? And what would be a good starting point on oil or would 10 be ok because I know it has more gears in it...
Thanks
Erik

i had the st at the races today, wow, what a competitor. i'm not the best driver, kinda aggressive/drifty/little brakes, it handled great with the cubic tires. i used some panther small pin tires and it was hard to control on a not-so-perfect surface. kinda dusty, damp blue groove with bumps and ruts. i went to the grip tires and it was pretty good too. 1st qualifier i lost the ackeman bar screw to the left wheel with 30 seconds left, was in second place at the time, no big. second qualifier came in 5th then 4th. lost the throttle servo at the 9 minute mark on the main (my last tower pro), finished 5th, not bad for first day. i had 10k in the front with a drop of 50k (about 15k) and 50/10k (between 20k and 30k) in the center, 3k rear. handled great, point and throttle. i'm gonna start using some brakes now, i've driven with just a hair of rear drag brake at neutral to then 1/2 brake front full brake rear at full brake (for those nose high moments) never really brake much, just coast into the corners and let the rear slide a bit then control the rotation with throttle. the d21b is a keeper, plenty of torque and top end with the hobao pipe, about 9 minutes per tank, crazy. 0 complaints from me on this truck, little better driving on my part and we'll see how it goes.

Hi all,
I just purchased a HST Pro today. Will be getting it shortly. What are most of you using for diff oil thickness? 10,30,7 (F,C,R)? I have heard the starting point the manual states is to thin.
Thxs for your help.

I have yet to really hear a consensus as to what the best all around diff oil set-up is.. I hear all kinds of crazy combos, and everybody seems to say it's great.., whatever it may be..

So the manual reference isn't any good thou right. To thin. I think we can say that everybody agrees with that. I race on a small but technical track on a clayish surface. Coming from my Revo I use 50, 500, 30 in that.

Can't believe I just found this thread..
Anyway, I have a ST Pro with a go .28 6 port. My only gripe is the brakes. I've made uber new linkages (the idea of having £500 of truggy and engine resting on a threaded control rod screwed into plastic doesn't excite me). I've also fitted cradock brake disks. The problem is though the brakes are great once just set up, they soon fade to almost nothing (the disks show no real sign of use after half a gallon). I think the problem lies with the crappy plastic centre diff mount and radio tray. Both flex way too much, and they really let the kit down in my opinion. Has anyone got a solution? I think an alloy centre diff mount would solve the problem, I could live with the flex in the radio tray. Does anyone know if the hong nor alloy mount will fit with a bit of modification? Anyone got ay ideas? I'm thinking of quad disks and having plain metal brake pads to remove the fade if I can't get a more substantial solution.
Any ideas?

i've been running the losi fiber disks, they work pretty good but i don't brake much. just had to mod the cneter hole a bit. i'm gonna try the stock disks and brakes once i get my new ace servos, 1313's brake 1015 steering.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure if any of those will fit, more than I want to spend on a gamble!
I'm going to buy a X1 CRT plastic mount and see if I can get it to fit.. If it does I'll chuck the alloy one in. I think the diff sits higher off the chassis on the X1 but I'll let you all know, will certainly be a worthwhile mod if it works!
