patrick: I would keep pipes, you never know which pipe will work with other engines, just keep it, you won't get much for it on ebay or somewhere else anyway.

Jonboy: any standard 1/8 offroad starter box should work, my uncle runs a RB "The Seven" turbo engine on his ST PRO and he's using an OFNA starter box. yes, the hubs are 17mm.

I've seen this pipe go for €40 here though, which I'd be glad to lop off the price of the kit...

What foams are you guys putting in your stock tires besides the soft ones that come with the kit. Just got my stock wheels back off of my rims and need a good stiff set of foams.

I used a set of Proline moulded that came with my Badlands(put green Panthers in them..) Not perfect, but much better than the stockers..

I think they are pretty stiff. I forgot two of my friends have those foams and did not even see how they were! I will see them tomorrow and find out. They have been running theres pretty good and no complaints of them being soft.

Well I scored a brand spanking new Ninja .28 off ebay for $249.99 not bad saved about $75.00 or more. still waiting for my auction on my Losi 8 to close this weekend so I can get paid and order my ST pro

I'm also looking at getting another battery box which one is the right one to get ??? I don't like that funky open set up on the ST is it the hyper 7 or hyper 8.5 ???

And if I'm going to be building this baby and the spider diff is not as good ast a standard style out of a hyper 7 should I get that too and install it at the time I do my original build???

Also hey J-blaze how do you do that carbon fiber look on the body I would love to do the whole body that way.

And I did see the video of the modded Rossi 28 and WOW! man yes thats the way I like to drive well on a good day LOL but it looks like the ST is the most solid truggy on the market. I hope to see some big wins with it I'm sick of loosing races because something breaks but it in no way looks like th ST will be prone to that.

I will run my .28 ninja and a hard anodized JP-3 pipe

Is there a vented clutch like the ones in the kit in a 13 or 12 tooth ??? I heard or read the test on the ST in car action and they said it was kinda high strung I have a local track thats kinda tight and of course I have thunder alley and Revelations here in So Cal too within a hour of me so I would like some gearing options.

Any help would be much apreciated

And man I'm freaking out I can't wait to get my ST wooo hooo I can smell the nitro burning right now.

the kit comes with a vented 14T clutch bell but you are going to run a .28 Ninja so I don't think you will have torque problems lol.

i started to do the 8.5 battery box conversion but the screws on the extra box were stripping, so i went for the box off my original buggy, fs racing gh-4. super cheep knock off of hyper 7 or duratrax raze, which i upgraded to a hyper 7 pbs, with parts little by little, then the hyper 7 to an 8.5, again little by little. the box is a perfect fit for the two front screws and the four bottom ones, plenty of room too, just a little old. i didn't want to have to mod the cf plate to get the 8.5 box to fit. i have the truck almost perfect now on the track, i drilled 2 of the four holes on the shock pistons and am running 70k rear 80k front oils. the tires have the proline mt moulded foams, 12 tooth bell and sts d21b. i have the rear brakes with just a hair of drag so when i go into the turns i can coast the last few feet then cut it hard to the side and the back end just follows. i was turning inside an 8.5 on the track and the guy was (pized) thinking it was something wrong with his car. it still pushes a bit coming out of the turns, just have to be a little smoother with the throttle, maybe thicker center oil too. i stripped my spur gear, very old, and to take out the center diff took 4 screws! the four on top, just pop off the brake cams all together and the whole diff slides right out, awesome design, took me 5 minutes with new oil too. its the same design on the 8.5. i'll have both the st and 8.5 at the track this weekend for some club races, very nice!

i did a small steering mod to the front arm today, seemed to help plenty. just dremmeled a bit where the nut goes into the knuckle. at full turn the nut was rubbing a spot on the arm so i grinded the hole thing off. there isn't supposed to be a nut there but the screws kept falling out on me.

Drove the Hyper today with the new LRP's with holeshots on them and it is like a different truck compared to the stock wheels. The bad push I had coming out of the turns is completely gone and it turns on a dime and is on rails when driving. Holds a line in the turns like crazy[X(] NOW IT TURNS LIKE A BUGGY!!! I do not understand it[sm=confused.gif] How can just putting on these tires eliminate my on power push??? Steering response increased tremendously and feel for the truck while driving did too.

Bent one of my axles today about 45 degrees! Never even seen the truck hit anything. came off of a jump landed fine the car just started doing donuts. Had to beat the hell out of it to get it straight. Cannot figure it out. It was bent so much it would hit the shock, sway bar and arm and would not turn for anything.

Still (slowly) continuing with my build... just dropped the centre diff in and have a question

When I turn the centre diff with my thumb the front drive shaft occasionally catches and wont spin (while the back one continues to turn without problem). Have I made a mistake or is this normal? It may well not be a problem when the engine is proporly running.

Do I need to take the front diff apart to investigate?

Cheers

Yeah I would pull the front diff down, I had mine do the same thing with the rear diff. Your gear mesh might be too tight, I put 1 shim in the diff on the opposite side of the crown gear and it spins freely without feeling notchy. Test if it moves freely before you put the diff back on the chassis, then you dont have to pull everything down again.

i didn't want to locktite it in and then strip the screw trying to get it out, these screws are stripping easy on me, may be old tools. its kickin' with the nut though, loving the truck.

mate .ive just had a close look at what your doin here and well it aint going to do much..

when you lock your wheels this far, the steering nuckle hits the lower arm but if you look at the inside of your wheel rim its hitting the steering rod..so no matter how far you turn the wheel it still hits the stock tires..thus no advantage in steering

sorry,..but are you useing the stock wheels tires???if not then disregard what ive said

you're right, but where its at now the grp tires don't hit the arm, i'll have to check the stock tires though. if they do it could ruin the wheel or the arm[]. turns great though, i use the 15mm extensions on the grp's, they have no offset.

Ok I have not got my ST waiting to order it this week end but I'm getting worried what is all this trouble with the front hub screw falling out???? and when i do my build i would like to use the stock ST wheels but want better tires and foam what are the suggestions as in brand wise next the battery box i want to do the conversion and it looks straight forward but in the mod I see the on off switch is removed is that true??? I like a on off switch to keep any stress off my servos whe the car is not in use on the bench during races. next I here people talking about front end push is it the spider diff???? if it is should i just do a swap from a hyper buggy when I do my original build?? and is there a smaller vented Hoboa clutch bell I would like a 13 I bought a new Ninja .28 for my up and coming ST and I run Jr9000t servos for steering and Ko PROPO servos for throttle. and I plan on using my hard anodized JP-3 pipe

Just want to make sure when I do my first anitial build that I adress all this stuff

Sorry for being such a pest with all my questions but just want to make sure I do it right the first time.

Any other little issues I should adress too ??????
