Hello Bosssman,
I have just purchased a CMP Hellcat. I have a problem as the instruction booklet was destroyed. I cannot get the business that I purchased it from to respond to my requests for a repalcement set. Is it possible I could get you to fax or e-mail me a copy?
Thanks,
Richard

Hello,
Is there anyone out there that would be willing to send me a e-mail copy, or a Xerox copy of the instruction booklet that comes with the CMP Hellcat model kit? The one that came with my model has been destroyed, and I cannot get the vendor that sold me the model to send me another copy. I would appreciate anyone's help.
Thank you,
Richard

The rain has started here in Washington (the middle of Oct., who'da thunk) and I've finally gotten started on my Hellcat. I picked up a cockpit kit (along with most of the other goodies) and have started it. I was wondering if anyone has gotten complete instructions for the cockpit kit. I've gotten what's on Dion's site and it says more to come but that was a long time ago. I'd like a little more info on how to fit it into the plane among other things... It seems interest has died. I would have liked to seen Dion's finished product.
Anyway, here is what I have so far.

I found some more time to work on the cockpit. I must say the plastic is easy to work with, a light scoreing and a quick folding and you are ready for the sanding touchup... Great stuff Dion.

I've gotten most of the Cockpit pieces cut out but have run into a snag. Dion must have changed the kit from the time he did the partial instructions as the picture doesn't show the placement of some of the pieces. Maybe someone has a picture of the real thing or maybe of their cockpit construction and could help me out...
Thanks
Bob

hi Bob,
I wander by this thread often and saw your request. Perhaps the attached photos of a real Hellcat might help? Spent a number of hours in this 'office'!.
Best regards,
hookem

You are so close! That is the gun sight. Assemble the parts as shown and use the template for the gun sight glass to cut it to the proper shape. Some kits do not have the small rounded pad, I was in such a hurry to make the kits I forgot this part. I thought most people lost interest in this thing, didn't see one thing getting built. Now that I see you trying and someone brought this to my attention, it got my interest going again. You are doing an excellent job, I'll help whenever I can.
The last part before painting is the armor plate that goes behind the rear window, add some balsa to this. That's it, you're ready for painting.
I'll post my painting instructions here later tonight. For those that are wondering, I'm limiting my presence here for just this kind of thing, I feel obligated to my customers. Otherwise, not to much about RCU thrills me, so for now anyway I will only respond to questions about my stuff.

Thanks everyone,
Blacksheep-1 - I plan on doing a lot of the mods but I'm not up to the cutting the wings or tail. I will however build the scale tail wheel retract just for the fun of it. Beautiful! Did you see my post about turning your tutorial for the retract into a article for the clubs newsletter? I think it would be interesting for our members. I won't do it without your ok. Thanks so much for the extra info about the cockpit kit. I was going to ask about the U shaped piece but I see it in the picture. Right now I'm getting an airbrush together and will have to practice a little before I start painting. Did you ever finish your Hellcat? I'd love to see a finished picture...
Hookemut - those cockpit pics are great thanks!

Hi John! I'll talk to ya soon.
Yes, you can use my pictures, just give me credit. I've moved into an almost full time designing and manufacturing mode, I don't really have time to work on my own stuff or fly. I almost finished my Hellcat, still have not painted the wing though! I'm fine with my current situation, because I enjoy building and the type of problem solving that comes with making a new part for something. I will be moving to Texas in the spring, so I'm really looking forward to getting in touch with some old flying buddies. I'm sure I'll start doing more flying then.
Here is a few pictures, it's as far as I got with my plane. As you can see I have the panels on it and the panel line tape, so it's pretty close to being done.
I'll finish the instructions, I already have all of the pictures, I just never posted them.

Do you have any time frame as to when you are going to rerelease the detail parts for the Hellcat? I don't want to start building mine until the parts are available.
Thanks

Thanks Pappy,
So of the many handles, I'd use Luke Zollner... Looking forward to the rest of the instructions, would that include installation into the fuse?
Keep up the great work! I'll be posting more pics as I go along.

I started this as a limited production type thing, but I'm up for another run I guess. I do have about 5 Hellcat cockpits in stock and about 3 drop tanks. I am in the middle of filling a large order this week, let me get that out of the way and I'll get the Hellcat stuff out to who wants it.

I want to get everyone up to the painting on this project, looks like I have one guy! lol Again, good work Bob!
You will need to drill two small holes in the small trim wheel box on the left panel as shown in the first picture. Using the supplied wire you will make your elevator and rudder trim rods. Glue them in, they extend to the back panel.
Get your elevator trim wheel ready for painting by sticking a pin through the center and attaching it to some scrap balsa.
Now we are ready to paint.
After making a few of these I’ve found that it is much easier if you leave the instrument panel mounting former unpainted for now. We will get the instrument panel ready to mount with the instruments, glue it to the panel and then with a brush paint the remaining panel. You can either paint the entire panel black, or very carefully with a brush paint it Green Zinc Chromate, it’s up to you.

I would like to get the cockpit, gear covers, drop tank, and the canopy. If you would like to send what parts you have now that would be fine.
Thanks

Thanks Pappy, I think I'm ready for paint now after a minor slip up in cutting the gun sight[:@].
In one of your posts you showed a cowl former and said you were sending everything to Hal, would you still have the templet? I contacted Hal and he said he couldn't get to his basement so it wasn't available.
The Hellcat looks great btw, can't wait to hear how it flys.

I finally got an air hose for the air brush and a little practice so I've gotten the zinc chromate and black painted, now the details... What the heck are all those push pins and other pins for?
