I am enjoying reading this forum as I have the CMP F6F from Nitroplanes for one of my winter projects. I am interested in the discussions of the Air retracts that seem to center around CJ and Sierra. I'm sure that everyone has an oppinion about which is best. I'd love to see som pictures of either installed in the AC and what pitfalls you ran into during the process. I am also considering talking to Kelvin at http://www.keleo-creations.com/ about a custom exhaust. Has anyone tride a G-26 for a powerplant?
Thanks for any input.

It is quite likely that whatever causes flutter is visiting your model now, and that flutter itself could take place. Keep your airspeed down, check for slack in the model's elevator servo, pushrods, horns, etc. Did you 'Y' your elevator pushrods? If so, you may be getting flexing at the 'Y'. The model gods have given you a warning-find the problem(s) with your elevator system!! Good Luck!!

I'm using the Sierra retracts and this is what I have so far. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to close the small doors yet (they're not on yet). I'm using a 3 1/2" wheel and had to make the opening bigger which meant cutting the ribs on either side of the wheel well and making new short ribs to strengthen the area. You also have to cut down the spar a little to get the retract in (see page 51). The gear doors are from Luke.

Bigbird, Thanks for the information. I came into a complete set of Robart's from a guy in our club that is selling a bunch of stuff. I've read on here at least one person that used the 615s so since I got Robart: #188 Air Control Kit, #615 100 Degree Rotating Mains, #164 G PSI Pump w/ Gauge, #650 Shock Landing Gear Strut, for the package price of $100.00 (all NIB). I figure if it turns out I can't use it here it will fit some future project. From the looks of your pictures you stripped the wings and are going to do a recover. What do you plan to use? What other mods are you doing? What engine? I've seen the Flap aileron Mod and that looks cool.
Merry Christmas

Thanks Johnny.
Ben,
I'm going to fiberglass and paint. I've got a custom cockpit, drop tank and dummy radial also. I bought a YS 110 for power and plan on a Spectrum DX7 radio. I've built 4 kits and put together a couple of ARF's but this is my first foray into bashing... we'll see.

Oldscaleguy,
Luke Zollner made a bunch of mods for this plane but he has no contact info. You can check out http://www.zollnermodels.com/ , I believe he sells on eBay occasionally or try posting here that you are interested, other than that I can't help.

Merry Christmas to all,
Does anyone have a close up of Luke's cockpit in a finished stage? I'm trying to wrap mine up, but I'm having a problem with the gunsight. Not quite sure how it goes together. If someone has a picture I would sure appreciate them posting it.
Thanks
Gary

Bob,
Did you find a gasser that would work. I would like to go Gas on this bird and have a scale functioning exhaust made by Kelvin at Kelocast.
Let me know what you've found out.

I have to agree , its not thing about mechanicals retracts , its that you will be pushing the maximum weight of what they can take with this plane . One bad landing and you will probably tear them out .
I dont know if the Horizon brand that is used in the H9 Hellcat could take the weight of this plane .
